Why are new rappers bugging their eyes?

this is how white people have portrayed black people for over 400 years.

the fact that some of you don't know this history is sickening. i had to check some clowns when obama first got elected and show them the history of shit like this and the evolution of the drawings etc.

black people need to be educated on how we have been fucked over from day one so we don't accept this bullshit anymore.

bruh lets not stop there, lets make the connection... who was responsible for that negative imagery back then...hollywood right..

and who ran hollywood,

who is responsible for pushing this image now... the recording industry riiiiight??

who ultimately runs that...

its not even fuckin hip hop, its psychological warfare used to program the youth...back in the day, every city

had their own style, their own swag...rappin about different shit..

its not fuckin happenstance everybody sound the fuckin same talkin about the same shit...

cacs in their waning positions of power

realized how powerful rap is globally, and they made sure it will never be used to overthrow them...

and most folks are too dumbed down to peep the conspiracy facts...

now hip hop is used to keep the prison industry complex pumping..

this muthafucka literally said on a recording he loves selling white...

he just picked up the target, pasted it on his back,

and sent a picture to the kkk opps aka the local police...

So your cool with these depictions that are clearly minstrel caricatures, that were explicitly meant to demean us from their ORIGINS? Those chicken and watermelon caricatures were also meant to demean us, not teach good health standards. Ain't no Black folks, I know ever ate either in the manner depicted in plantation propogranda.

Let me guess you call your kids little n..s, because its a term of endearment that we have commandeered and flipped positive. Of course not right?

This ain't white folks hurting us, we are doing it to ourselves, because we don't teach each other past last week.

I never suggested I was cool with any of that.

I use to care, now my energy level for caring is not even close to what it used to be. My reasoning for that is of my own discretion.

Personally, I’m honest about my imperfections as a black man and a human. So I have called a many of children lil’ niggas. Just like I have called many white children lil’ cracka ass crackas. And still do...

I do not have the same expectations as you regarding how black folks carry themselves or behave. That shit is exhausting to me now of days because it really doesn’t matter to white folks. Nothing we do matters to them if we ain’t making them money.

Also, I do not subscribe to the thinking of what some black folks do hurting the image of us all. I use to, but I don’t anymore. If a rapper wants to be a bugged-eye gangster, then that’s his business.

If a black child wants to learn math and science and asks me to mentor them, then that’s my business.

Who gets to define what a negative stereotype is? For example, there are some black folks that see tap dancing as a negative stereotype, but we also know it’s an art form mastered by legends like Sammy Davis Jr, the Nicholas Brothers, and Gregory Hines.

White folk displayed us as loving chicken an watermelon. But if a black child is doing a happy dance simply because he or she loves fried chicken, then there will be those to point out why they shouldn’t be doing that, especially if it was in front of people.

Sometimes, I feel like we (black folk) see ourselves through a keyhole, the same way white folks do when they see “negative stereotypes” and generalize who we are.

I’m not excusing poor behavior or harmful imagery. However, I just want Black folks to be able to just be without the constant judgement and ‘microscoping’ every move. I want to be unapologetically black, but I don’t want nobody to define that but me.

Fam this was SPOT ON! Its a gift & a curse and the pendulum swings depending on who the narrator is....

It's hard to navigate at times. I get the idea of us having a unified code that we can go by and every one of us just gets it.

But, bruh, there are so many constantly moving factors. The fight against them and the fight within ourselves and our peers to be a particular type of Black man.

for rappers its portraying that their geeked up Wiggin out phsycos that will hurt you, for commercials idk its so much fuck shit in commercials always black soulful singing in Mcdonald KFC and popeye commercials some car commercials that black tends to ride the most impala Lexus Cadillac always some version of a hip-hop song with a jazz twist to make the song sound non-aggressive,

and don't forget when Gabby Douglas first won the gold the next commercial was a monkey doing gymnastics

and another one that rubs me wrong and has me questioning the world when the news of Kobe Bryant spread the BBC channel did a breaking news clip about his death but it showed mostly Lebron clips and at the end, it was Kobe on the court with a strange laugh and smirk it was creepy as fuck I don't know if it was a fuck you to Kobe type thing or some other 666 shit involved.

Yea.. I feel ya Weather man.. And ive adopted this stance for the most point long ago. We've been burdened with the expectations and prejudices of bigots.. And not because we want to , but because we have also been burdened with the penalties which come along with being grouped and judged by our worst. Its a complicated dynamic. Its ok to express disappointment in some of the abjectly deplorable shit some of our young people partake in but not if you're doing so out of a desire to disprove white sentiment and stereotype.

That being said... these niggas disgust me. This bug eyed shit and wide smile teeth showing is straight minstrel shit. I promise you i would kill these niggas if i were promised i would get away with it.

I'd hang out with Rembrandt Brown before I put any of these muthafuckas on my ipod bruh. :smh: :itsawrap:

I've even moved on from being disgusted to not even really know how to react anymore. But the bold part of your comment is my exact sentiments.

It's so complicated that I am certain there are times I going to get it wrong when I need to be right about it. I'll do my best to be a solid representation for Black men, but I will fail some and I am ok with that.

Some folks don't even have the consciousness to know otherwise. Probably to no fault of their own.

Yep Ive talked to my good friends about this and will share here. The older I get Im off the Bliggidy Black tip. There things that I like or do that some Blacks will not like. It doesnt mean Im not Black or official. The faux monolithic Black think tank is EXHAUSTING! Especially when you peek behind the curtain and you realize those same ones speaking in these terms are lining their pockets.

The same Black people that have supported me and my business, will come in and say I love your stuff, man, your staff needs a raise etc. Raised my price $1 and they was trying to cancel me for 'trying to get paid'

It was said earlier but I don't have the energy for that fight.

hey my good bruh,

hip hop hasnt really been pushed on us, as much as it has been hijacked by the satanic

recording industry and then used to keep us functioning on low energy shit....

shit started from the public enemy days, remember them..they put the fear

of the gods in this establishment..

and thats when the industry got involved there was time... mtv which was the music

industry in the eighties, wouldnt touch rap at all..

then as a joke, they started you mtv raps.. and it was a wrap...

hip hop went full commercial and became a marketing tool...

real hip hop is underground...

like my Mans Cambatta...

Agree with all of da above.
