Why are Black people still Christian?

Do you really believe religious people really believe that bullshit?
Some do, some don’t. It’s a mixed bag.

There are some folks who truly believe in the Bible, God, Jesus and all that noise but I wouldn’t go as far to say they’re the majority though.

Most religious people are looking for some kind of structure they couldn’t find within their own lives, so they turn to religion to tell them what to do and how to live.

If you dig deep enough into a religious persons past, you’ll usually find some dark and dirty shit. That’s when they’ve “turned over a new leaf.”

It’s usually bs but they’ll believe it enough to absolve themselves of living recklessly.

Religion and God is a crutch for the weak minded.

It’s simply easier living the lie.

gotta love the internet...its the only place where people that don't think like you do are weak-minded...

im not religious....at all

that said: i dont see the problem that some have with religion...at the base of all of them is simply a guide to living a good life...

the problem is the people that interpret them that causes all the drama...killing etc
This

Authoritarianism is always the issue with any religion or ideology.

Man will take a system that is good and use it to control or manipulate the people to do what they want them to the reasons could be beneficial or exploitive.

If all of the Black people in the world today, all of a sudden turned atheists or Agnostic and gave up Christianity, Islam, Traditional African Religions, New Age Religions, Eastern Religions and Astrology, would all of our issues go away? Would we improve?

I've always had the mentality that any message can be twisted or misinterpreted to fit the narrative that a person is trying to push. We see this daily here in the US.

Any talented writer on BGOL can take Shinto scripture and twist it to make a case that torturing Shaddy is an appropriate thing to do but if they were to do that, who's at fault, the writer or the Shinto religion?

while im doing that....

you go look and tell me if there is ANYTHING in the world that does work for everyone
None of it works. You ready for that argument?

You simply can’t negate the plague religion and God has been on this earth.

Ask an African, or a Haitian, or anyone of our brothers and sisters who traded their land in the name of that book

Good video and I like the argument he presents. He somewhat answers it in the beginning but I like how he finished it.

If the Black church has failed to adequately address our continued suffering across the globe in this modern age, no matter how Christian we are, or the proximity to whiteness we achieve Black continues to be oppressed globally. Picking up or dropping religion wont change that.

And while the current power of the western world is young in comparison to past ancient civilizations they've enjoyed power long enough and have achieved a lot in a short period that globally humanity SHOULD be better off.

Which brings me back to Authoritarianism. He mentioned how Jesus was against oppressive governments, against exploitive business, was for universal healthcare (healing the sick), and debt forgiveness and criminal justice reform. All issues we are facing today. If religion or belief in Christianity is the issue then why is man still doing these same things now that was being done back then when Jesus was around.

So Black people are still Christians because we are awaiting the change, the punishment and the redemption for how we’ve been treated, because if you follow bible scripture the choices made result in some form of consequence. If they choose to be Anti Black they will suffer their punishment for it.

Sadly most so called Black people have no idea of their true identity in the world. The Abrahamic faiths were founded by very dark brown melanin rich people. Even the Koran was started by an orthodox Catholic. To this day the oldest catholic churches are in Ethiopia. We know that because Ethiopia was never colonized by history perverting albino devils. There are no white people in Torahs or Bibles.

I've told this story before. Bishop Luther Blackwell of Cleveland's mega church on Scranton had the church do a fundraiser so he can send he and his wife to Africa for their 30th anniversary.

When not enough money was raised he said and I quote, "You want your man of God to fly COACH?" And those people donated more money so he and his wife could go first class, likely when they have never even flown first class. Fuck Church, and fuck the Mind controlling institution of church

I'm not religious. To be more precise, I rejected religion, and don't agree with a lot of religious teachings. I believe a lot of it is man made, but...God has shown me mercy and blessings. I don't need to be religious to see that.

Man that is as common as the sun coming up everyday...black folks will donate every Sunday so their "passta" can drive a new Cadillac every year...while they are stugging to pay their lightbill.

I remember back in the mid 2000's my old barber was bragging about his church buying their pastor a new bently..lol I asked him how in the hell could they even begin to do something like that, when a fair number of the congregation was living pay check to pay check & some worse. His rationale was that the pastor deserved that..lol I think they had brought his wife some luxury car the previous year.

When I lived on the other side of DC, there was a church a couple of blocks from my house & the pastor used to line up several of his cars in front of the church on Sundays.

Man I got to tell you about this church in NE DC. This was a few years ago when one of my boys graduated from theology school at Howard. He was a guest speaker at the church off east capital right around the corner from RFK.
This was the first time I had ever been to a church where they took up 5 collections. I can’t not make this shit up. There were 4 collections for just random shit and the 5th collection was to get a gift for the pastor’s anniversary. The deacon actually asked everyone to give $100 and if you didn’t have it we can set you up on a payment plan. I said WTF?

The DMV is also the only place I’ve been on the east coast where church’s have ATMs at the front entrance. Now for some people that may not seem like a lot, but it’s almost like they low key trying to say don’t come up in here broke.

There are some solid church’s though. I found a good church in Mo County that wasnt on that bs and did a lot for the youth - college fairs, boy Scott’s, girls scouts, young men of passage program, and had a nurse practitioner on site a few days a week for people to get healthcare.

Church’s can do more, but I think they are needed from the standpoint of things like building presentation skills when kids have to present on youth Sunday or learning how to sing from being on the choir, or learning how to play an instrument. These are invaluable skills IMO.

I will say between the church I was going to in Mo County and Union Temple in SE DC these were the first church’s I’ve ever gone to where the pastors spoke from Afrocentric point of view of the Bible.

I think I know what church you're talking about over near RFK. I used to go to Union Temple off & on for awhile and I'd go to First Baptist Church of Glenarden (mainly because my dad flew with Jenkins, so he'd go from time to time to have breakfast with him). FBCG is almost like going to the damn club tho, there are some fine assed women in there..lol

I knocked down a bunch that go to Ebenezer over in Camp Springs, that's another one that's stocked with chicks. I remember when their minister was against the men in the church attending the million man march..lol
