Because women have the illusion of "control" in the sugar daddy relationship.

In my mind, I see them as:

#2. Middle Age Player/Cougar relationships.
They tend to be more frowned upon because society views them as predatory or as "cradle robbing" for the older person and "gold digging" for the younger. (Retired athletes/models, older celebrities, online influencers)
#3. Lastly, there are the May/December relationships.
They are real, however, they simply make people feel uncomfortable because the age gap is just too great and people can't see pass it or fail to see what the parties involved have in common. (The rest of society...)

I think power dynamics more so come into play today.
If it's an older man, it's viewed as you taking advantage of a naive woman. Normally, the opposite is never viewed this way because men are viewed as dominant over women.
