I believe that when DRIZ refers to "baldheadedness" he is referring to the elder black women who have spent a lifetime on the comb/relaxer/perm. Not to sistas in their 20's or 30's (or teens)
Your shit might be shoulder length now (doesn't make a difference to me) using all those chemicals (and hot metal), but by the time you're 55-60-65 it might be mostly gone. I've seen black womens' hair like that. And I've seen enough elder sistas wearing wigs almost out of necessity now for it to be more than a coincidence
Perhaps you should let DRIZ speak for himself or reread his post. He said the root of the weave problem yadda yadda yadda. Were we not referring to women that are in the potential dating pool and their weaves or lack thereof? So you date 55-60-65 year old women?
Oh and trust, as some women age, no matter how well they treated their hair, how anti chemical and hot metal (as you say) they may experience hair loss. Just like a man's hair sometimes receeds or balds with age. What are you gonna blame that on? Hot clippers? Oh and lets not bring up old white women with their tales from the crypt thin ass hair. Hell, what about Donald Trump and his comb over? Did a hot comb cause that too? Basically what I'm trying to say is you're standing whole heartedly behind a stereotype.
And for the record I'm not shoulder length, I'm about 7 inches past that. Oh and my mother, she's 59 and she's just a few inches behind me because she prefers to keep an even blunt cut. The difference between us and all the "baldheaded" women you all are frowning upon is that we took time to learn to care for our hair, whether it's in its natural state or relaxed.
the hot comb. May not be used as much these days, but it still exists in plenty of black homes
Moderate use of a hot comb won't make you lose hair, however improper use of it could burn it out. But guess what, it grows back because the hot comb isn't touching the hair shaft (or root) where the hair grows.
The root of the weave problem is the damage done by chemical altering relaxers, conditioners, and perms that damage both scalp and hair. That is why black females hair is fucked up. Stop perming your black baby girls heads

. That is why you are bald-headed. Give your daughter the gift of a full head of hair stop perming. Tell the truth DAMMIT.
However, once I have children, I will not relax my daughter's hair, I will wait until she is old enough to care for it her self and let her make that decision. Not because I'm afraid of damage, or I want to give her the gift of a full head of hair as you put it, but because having relaxed hair is a big commitment and requires lots of work. I want her to understand that and be able to make the choice to take on such a big responsiblity herself.
