5 Things to Know About Christy Sheats, the Texas Mother Killed by Police After Fatally Shooting Her Two Daughters
On Friday, police in Texas responded to a home in the small town of Katy, where they found the bodies of two young women lying in the street.
According to investigators, the two victims – Taylor Sheats, 22, and Madison Sheats, 17 – were killed by their own mother, 42-year-old Christy Sheats, who was fatally shot by a responding officer. Authorities allege Sheats started shooting her daughters inside the home, and continued firing bullets at them as they fled. Sheats was killed by police after refusing to drop her weapon during a brief standoff. Investigators have not released a motive, but they say the violence was preceded by a verbal argument between the three. Here are five things to know about Friday’s fatal shooting in Katy, Texas: 1.
Christy Sheats Had a History of Mental Illness
Police tell PEOPLE they had been called to the Sheats home prior to Friday’s violence, and that the killer mother allegedly had a history of mental illness.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office had been to Sheats’s home “for previous altercations” involving her “mental crisis,” a sheriff’s spokeswoman tells PEOPLE, declining to elaborate on those incidents.

2. Sheats’s Husband Begged Her Not To Shoot Their Children
Police say the shooting happened on the birthday of Sheats’s husband, Jason, and that he was home at the time of the shooting. He ran for help when the bullets rang out, police say. Eyewitnesses told police that Sheats’s husband tried pleading with his wife, begging her not to hurt their two daughters. “Don’t do this,” he’s alleged to have said to her. “They’re our kids,’” police say.

3. Sheats and Her Daughters Shared Warm Feelings on Social Media
In September, Christy made a posting on Facebook, recognizing “Daughter’s Day.”“Happy Daughter’s Day to my two amazing, sweet, kind, beautiful, intelligent girls,” she wrote. “I love and treasure you both more than you could ever possibly know.” On Mother’s Day three years ago, Taylor Sheats shared an old photo of her mother, calling her one of the biggest influences in her life. “Mom, you are so selfless, as you always put our whole family before yourself and never ask for anything in return,” the post read. “You’re so kind and loving, as you always remind us of just how much you care and how proud you are of everything we do. You’re so intelligent and fun to be around because I feel like I can talk to you for forever now about anything.” The post concluded: “You’re one of the strongest people I know, if not the strongest, and you have had to overcome so much in your life but you still manage to love us and put your everything into being a mom. You’re so encouraging, as you always push us to do our absolute best, even when we can’t muster up the strength to do it ourselves. You’re such a blessing to have as a mother and friend and I truly appreciate you and all that you do. Happy Mother’s Day to my amazing mommy and I love you.”
4. Sheats Posted Pro-Gun Opinions
On Facebook, Sheats describes herself as a Baptist and a conservative who cherished her second amendment rights to gun ownership. She made several social media posts proclaiming her love for guns and her desire to own them so she could protect her family. In one post, she wrote that “it would be horribly tragic if my ability to protect myself or my family were to be taken away, but that’s exactly what Democrats are determined to do by banning semi-automatic handguns.” 5. Sheats Had Recently Reconciled With Her Husband
Neighbors told police the couple had recently reconciled following a brief separation. Police tell PEOPLE it isn’t clear how long the couple had split up for. Those same neighbors told local media Sheats’s husband was a doting father who cared dearly for his daughters.
Judging from some of her posts that have been exposed that was probably her gun
Getting a gun and a license out here in Texas takes all of a day or weekend shit
Taylor Sheats who was gunned down along with her sister, Madison, by her own mother on Friday was to have been married today.
Daily Mail Online has learned that Taylor, 22, had planned to marry her fiancé, her boyfriend of four years, Juan Sebastian Lugo in a small ceremony today.
bump since I found out this through twitter\bgol and not national news.
That almost sounds like an incest situation.
Crazy pussy is the best pussy.

They knew this bitch was crazy. She walked around wearing a mask everyday, literally. She just drew it on with makeup. She drew on a new face! I can't tell you how often I see crazy or intellectually disabled women get excused for fucked up behavior that would've gotten a similar man sent to jail or beaten. Society is all about keeping every fully functioning vagina in the game for as long as possible, genetics and personality be damned (We can all name several female adult performers that ain't exactly 100%). That's why they won't prosecute women who murder their own children. The US is a Christianity based society and the bible says to put reproductive women first. Is your family drowning? Save the wife first! You can make more kids. We also have a culture that believes that women are giant children but gives them tons of authority until shit blows up then it's suddenly the nearest man's fault. Families always tries to marry off these chicks asap, so that they become some dude's problem. That's why they push these chicks to be sexually aggressive, but only for the guys that her family approves of. If a less desirable dude smashes he's gonna catch a charge. They wanna have you believe that these women can't consent to sex, but suddenly become fully developed once they get married and squeeze out some kids. They'll let them drive and even let them own guns. Y'all saw what happened once she got divorced.
Does this mean that you don't believe women should drive and own guns? Where in the bible does it say to put women first? I've never seen that. I always thought that culturally male children took precedent over women, their mother included, as they can keep the lineage going. Women and children first have traditionally been the order of saving people, but I believe that has more to do with a code of chivalry and the thought that women and children are weaker and won't make it on their own.
You would focus on that part wouldn't you? I didn't say anything about women not being able to drive. I said something about people with intellectual disabilities (IDs) not being able to drive. Gender came into it because we don't treat males with IDs the same way that we treat females with IDs even though we expect those females to hold the lives of children in their hands. We don't expect the males to do shit. Society just ignores the intellectual development of a females once they start bleeding if they're attractive. There's no thought of what kind of life they'll have much less what kinds of lives their children will have.
Nobody compares this woman to the UCSB shooter despite the similarities. He hid behind a pair of oversize sunglasses while she hid behind makeup. An indicator that something was off with him was his relationship with women, but due to men's thirst that couldn't have been a warning sign for her. It's a double standard that plays out because people generally have such low expectations for women.
Ok so your post is about crazy women specifically and not women in general? You mentioned her being crazy in the first part, but then went on about women being "big children" with authority, and how society generally views/treats women, which didn't come across as critiquing someone clinically diagnosed but a general opinion of women. So I wasn't attacking, I was asking for clarification. What about the bible part?
Mental illness in general goes un/under diagnosed. Her rants about guns match up with teaparty/trump supporters. Crazy is mainstream now.
My first post was about how nobody wants to say a chick is crazy when it's obviously so. They'll limit the life opportunities of dude's who are a little bit off but go out of their way to cover up for a woman. They use the "has a job/kids" rubric to judge women which is a very low standard in an age where women have equal rights.
They Reported the story on the local news here. They didn't show any pictures of the mother or the kids. All they showed were the neighbors talking about how nice the mother was and they seemed like the perfect family. I'm like really - the pictures are floating all around the Internet and they didn't even show a picture. Straight propaganda.

Straight evil. They finally said how she got the gun too. Something sounded funny about her having a history of mental illness AND having a gun. I thought it was the husband's, but it turns out her grandfather left it to her.She called a "family meeting" to discuss "punishing" the husband![]()
No wonder why gun control folks aren't talking about this case. They usually all over stories when white people involved.

pure evil....That bitch wasn't crazy, she was evil. Whenever they kill someone they have mental issues. When we kill someone we are criminals. Enough already. She was a mean evil bitch who couldn't handle things not going her way. Entitled bitch.
the daughters fiance mightve been
a little TOO ""ethnic"" for the "all american"
mother...

Knew this might have been the reason.."Christy wanted to ground her and prevent her from seeing her boyfriend, or fiancé, because she argued with her," Nehls said. "Mr. Sheats did not agree ... and told her it was inappropriate to ground their 22-year-old daughter and prevent her from seeing her fiancé."
