Yall BGOL brothers always on that divisive shit

All you niggas saying queens not from NYC.. you getting caught up with the most famous niggas

We talkin rap quality.. Bronx hands down then Brooklyn is next

Queens niggas like disco rap

Comb your beard nigga. Queens is legend territory :hmm:

I think Strong Island and NE New Jerz should have slots as well.

You have heavy weights like Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Naughty by Nature, Redman, EPMD, Busta Rhymes, etc.

Brooklyn.. Isn't Pac from Harlem?
BK got that 5 no other borough can mess with lyrically. Kane, Jay, Big, Mos and Busta. I wanted to say Guru too, but I'm not sure he was born in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn may not have had the best rappers, but the Brooklyn style of rap is what modern rap got its flavor from.. So its the most influential..

I hear that. I wanted to put down those areas but I strictly wanted to focus on the five boroughs.

I wanted to put his name down in the beginning but he represented the west coast during his career. I'll add him with an asterix next to his name.

QU definitely....

BK has/had the biggest stars in Jay and BIG...but overall quality I have to give it to them

Please don't turn this into a "Fuck NY" thread. And leave the rats/Timberlands jokes in the playground.

I'm not going to list every single rapper or otherwise this thread would be Colin'd.

If you feel any rappers are missing then let me know and I'll edit them in. I know there'll be some discrepancy over where a rapper was born and where they represent.

Busta from the days of Leaders of the New School was always down on Troy ave by Pathmark down by Farragut side. One of his crew still lives next door to my boy on i think E59 and Clarendon by that McDonald's and Footsteps. His origin and family is still in Brooklyn as far as I know.

Also add to that list Audio Two and MC Lyte yet who later moved to queens

No problem and I respect the premise of this thread:cool:. With that said I have to go with Queens followed closely by Brooklyn, Bronx, then Harlem, then Staten.

However Strong Island and North East Jerz really can't be ignored from the NYC metro area hip hop history as a whole. Because Staten is basically just WU and the omitted areas that are bolded produced acts known the world over. I mean look at De La Soul for instance and their impact on the culture?

Damn I can't think but there's a few heavy hitters missing from the Bronx. Great thread by the way too O.P. Good discussion.

When I spent my summers in QB thats what it was all about but, to me the whole NYC produced the best. When summer was over people couldn't wait till i got home to see what music i was bring back. It was more about the music and not the boroughs. Miss those summers so bad.
