One thing.. I don't want get too deep with business or business examples because thats artificial competition.. mcdonalds vs burger king and how thats enhanced fast food isn't exactly life and death in the balance. Competition based on profit motive isn't the same as competition for a truly limited or rare resource.

Competition for good pussy has been very beneficial for human evolution.

Collaboration has proven quite good for hiphop, given all the legendary emcees, DJs, and producers.

the way I see it collaboration taken to its extreme can only lead to life and better living... the extreme side of collaboration for example is agriculture... the extreme side of competition can lead to war.

collaboration - farming

competition - the nuclear bomb

Competition drives us to create, to strive, to endure and to find newer ways to live & survive.
However collaboration is far more important because it's essential in order for society to continue to exist. (Laws, resources, families etc...).
Without collaboration, the value of life is diminished because people would be constantly at war with one another, and tearing each other apart...:dunno:

mankind has benefitted off of options
I agree. And people have to be very, very, very selective with those options(who to work with or not to fuck with completely). There's a reason why it took humans so long to advance to the technology we have today. Who you choose to collaborate with can do you in faster than folks you consider enemies.

Competition is always here on earth. It's a constant. Choosing the right alliances helps everything from a personal level to empire building. Choose from options carefully.

A world where profit is the sole focus, which basically is capitalism, is built to fail. It will continue to do things outside of the needs of the people for the needs to fill the pockets of the rich

Trump wants to bring back insane asylums. What could go wrong?

The same thing that can go wrong with for-profit prisons. Quack Doctors will lock up or suggest the lockup of black and brown people for little to no reason because they're angry or scary or misunderstood or no reason at all

I could go on and on with more details, but it's late, and I'm tired. But insane asylums just like for-profit prisons is bad and it's only to fill the pockets of the rich because they will make sure that those insane asylum rooms are filled even if they have to lie cheat and misdiagnose hundreds if not thousands to do so

I think capitalism can work but it has to be heavily regulated.

If you and I are headphone producers and you make a pair that is cheaper with better sound quality you're going to take my market share. To get it back I need to make a pair better than yours. We duke it out in the customer benefits.

But that only works on an even playing field. The capitalist system we have now is the equivalent of a football game were blind officials take bribes, rules are changed at halftime, the field is slanted and an end zone is filled with land mines.

To succeed you would have to buy my company out, cheapen the quality, double the price, and make sure they can't be fixed when they inevitably break. It's far cheaper to dominate than innovate.

After all that's what the shareholders demand. Every nickel they invest must be worth $0.06 by the end of the next quarter.

But that's a whole other thread

People like to use the term competition.. but it is really options.. mankind/ consumer benefit off of options

What is the proverb: If you want to go far travel in packs. If you want to go fast go by yourself. I think competition has benefited us more, but we'd be farther along through collaboration.

I do find it odd that employers want collaboration, but as a society we do not practice that.

At the highest levels of capitalism, the major corporations hate competition, though. That's why we have monopolies and oligarchs running the United States.

That’s why options for mankind is better… certain monopolies are cooperation with powerful entities to keep everyone else from eating or creating better options
