Still rolling with my d7000 with a Nikon 24-120mm f/4. I use my iPhone for playing around but bring out my real camera for the kids and events. Probably will get something mirrorless when I finally upgrade.

That t6..ain't no punk..ain't no smartphone Fuckin with it.. periods..brah
Incorrect. A cell phone camera will NEVER be as good as a dedicated camera. Not even close. Not even in the same galaxy.
it all depends of what your needs are

i had a 35mm camera in my hand since before i could walk

but the pics i take on my note 9 are amazing

plus it shoots 4K and is flexible in a way my dslr is not

sure a t6i with a 18-400mm is a literal beast

but if i am say tryna get a creep shot at the bank that smartphone is the way to go

You're attempting to change your narrative from 'a cell phone is better' to 'it all depends, blah, blah, blah.'

I'll say it again, NO cell phone camera is better than a ILC. NONE. It's simple physics and if you had a 35mm in your hand for so long you should know that.

Sony A5100 (I picked it up for $40 dollars from the pawn shop because they thought it was broken.)
Sony 55-210mm F/3.5-5.6
Sigma 30mm F/1.4
Sony A7sii ( I picked it up from the pawn shop for $485 with no lens.)
Sony FE 50mm F/1.8

Canon T3i
50mm F/1.4
50mm F/1.8
17-55mm F/2.8
Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8

I gave my oldest son the Canon T3i for school (Mass Communication Major). I just bought the Sony A7sii in July. I need to get an 24-70mm F/2.8 & a 85mm F/1.8 for the Sony so I can start taking more photos. I bought it primarily to try out the low light video capability.

All this cell phone camera talk is ridiculous. People who think that know nothing about photography. Nothing. They are being fooled by computer-manipulated images. That's what cell phones do. Their sensors are simply too small to capture the information of an ILC. Not to mention their lens is maybe 2 elements at best, whereas an ILC lens has probably 6 or more. Most have around 9.

The cameras that take, historically and now, the deepest and beautiful pictures are medium format cameras. Their sensors are the largest. Then comes Full Frames or 35mm equivalent size sensor. And so on down the line until cell phones with the smallest sensors of all. The larger the sensor, the better the image. Full stop.

What's happened is that the public has been duped into thinking cell phone pictures are great images because people view them on cell phones. Look at them on a calibrated monitor and they look like shit.

There are plenty of other factors, like depth of field and bokeh that cell phones simulate with software but, once again, when viewed on a monitor they fall completely apart.

So if you want to take pictures that last and you can post process you must shoot in RAW format with a real camera, not some toy.

I just got a Tokina 85mm ATX-M f/1.8 lends for my Sony A7sii. I plan on taking some test pictures with it soon.
