WEC 50: Cruz vs. Benavidez 2 is an upcoming mixed martial arts event held by World Extreme Cagefighting scheduled to take place on August 18, 2010 at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada.[1]

Background

This event marks WECs first visit to Las Vegas since WEC 45 in December 2009 and will also be shown on the Versus channel.

Urijah Faber was expected to make his bantamweight debut against Japanese striker Takeya Mizugaki.[2] However, Faber was forced off the card with an injury. As a result Mizugaki was also pulled from the event.[3] The Faber/Mizugaki bout is expected to simply be pushed back, possibly as early as WEC 52.[4][5]

Stephan Bonnar will serve as color commentator for the event along with Todd Harris.[6]

From Pettis submitting Roller at the end, to Jorgenson and Pickett in a three round fight of the year war were epic. Hell,Anthony Njokuani versus Maciej Jewtuszko was a prelim fight with a surprise ending. It's almost as good as the last UFC a week ago. This is why I watch WEC on Versus.

LMAO@ that funny lookin' cracka tryin' to wrestle Pettis....maufucka ended up gettin' triangled. i was kinda disappointed in Swanson...thought he'd beat dude, but that's what happens when u get a great wrestler with no striking skills (Mendes)...they don't do shit but take u to the ground and hold...boring ass shit.

Same here, bro. BIG FAN of the lighter weight classes ... as the 135 - 155 dudes always deliver, and are EXCELLENT ATHLETES across the board. Gotta love the smaller fighters.
