VH1 on a mission to kill hip hop (again, for some people)?

VH1 & the rest of the media on a mission to kill hip hop... permanently.

So I guess this doesn't apply to those who think hip hop is dead, but for those of you who still have faith in the game, is it me, or does it seem like VH1 is on a mission to straight destroy hip hops name and bury it forever and bring rock to the top? "The White Rapper Show", "Miss Rap Supreme" "Flavor of Love..." What made them pick Flav? Because he acts straight coonish and he'll be sure to bring some embarrassment and shame to the game. But this dude on "Rock of Love" is portrayed as extra smooth and all suave and shit. Why did Three 6 Mafia win a Grammy? Because it was an opportunity for hip hop to fuck up. That's why. They were probably PRAYING for shots to be fired or a face to be caved in that night due to "violent rappers". Tell me this isn't all in my head?!

I've come to a realization that it's pretty obvious what they're doing. If shit like that shit continues, hip hop will become a joke to the main stream, and it will probably never be looked at the same again... Or even have a chance to be respected. Even though that would probably end a lot of bullshit and bring out the light in hip hop, it's fucked up to have your culture looked upon as a joke. VH1 is on that bullshit.

Again, I know a lot of you already feel like hip hop is a joke right now and I'm writing this in vane, but me personally, I feel like there's still some kind of level of respect for the game that can either be heightened or straight killed.

Yeah Hip hop heads really tune into VH1................

They are milking the hell out hip-hop. But the problem is we've allowed our art form to be commercialized and co-opted by corporate entities. Trust me the same thing pretty much happened to jazz that's why you see a bunch of old white guys who are aficionados of jazz music and not the people who created it.

As much as I want to ask you WHY ARE YOU WATCHING THAT SHIT?
The real question is why do people legitimize VH1 by letting them get away with that "Hip Hop Honors" bullshit. Where was VH1 during the ENTIRE come-uppance of hip-hop?

What role did Viacom (owner of VH1 MTV and now BET) play in the development or the destruction of hip-hop? Why are people supporting this bullshit? Negroes complain about "Hip-Hop is dead, I'm so sad" but steady buying tickets to the lynching.

So when people discuss it, I can say "Man, that shit is straight STUPID!" lol.. But really.. I've watched an episode of it myself to see what it's about. And you can't help but to watch it if you're in a social environment and majority wants to watch "Flavor of Love" and "Rock of Love". I'm not about to get up and leave because of some weak shit on TV, so I might as well check it out. Doesn't hurt to see what's going on.

Maybe that's why our shit is dead now. Nobody willing to stand up and walk away.

:dunno:
To me the shit is just making fun of bad rap and mocking the state its in now, not hip-hop...I can laugh @ the shit, it ain't that serious to me.

You missed the point.

No you missed the point. No true Hip Hop fan watches VH1, the people who do tune in to these shows are 106 and park and TRL fans. Are you trying to say you don't like how Hip hop is being portrayed to white people? and Hip Hop can never die theres lots of great music out there, you just have to look somewhere other then VH1 BET and MTV

I take hip hop seriously, but not to the point where I'm willing to defend it like somebody disrespected Jesus. I could care less if everybody wants to watch The White Rapper Show. But I will voice my opinion on it.
