Ultimate Horror Film Thread

See I like creepshow 2 better than 1 but I know part 1 is universally thought of as the best anthology

Both are great.

Hold on hold on I messed up.

Cat's Eye might be my all time favorite!

Its VERY difficult to do that format on the big screen and make it work. That overarching story with 3 in the middle that have some loose connections.

Shout to the best ever Rod Sterling.

I actually think Peele should try THAT next to save his current bad run. I know he fumbled Twilight Zone but there were a few good episodes in there.

I think a good anthology movie would work right now in the right hands.

Tales from the crypt, twilight zone, nightmare on elm street Friday the 13th or better yet Amazing Stories. All could be revived

Don’t need a movie theatre when you have all these streaming services that you can put them on… actually I had an idea yrs ago, you offer money to a bunch of fanmade filmmakers for content and put them altogether to make a film.. offer like 100,000 per 8-10 min content.. choose the best 10-12 segments and there goes your film.. if it is a hit , keep making more films using this format.. call it “fear” or the fear series… you open doors for new content creators as well as get content to keep making new movies.. only spending a mill or lil more and flipping it … had this idea forever.. this could be jordan peele lane especially for black content creators

Even if it did have a sexual aspect, how would that differ from The Nightmare on Elm Street? Freddy was a pedophile.

and you see how much new Line has tried to tamp down that aspect? Only real horror fans even know that sh*t. And trust me that particular mental defect is VERY prevalent in the genre, I understand your point. but there was ALWAYS traditionally a line of how FAR they would take that in horror.

From all reports this one crosses the line even further than Terrifer.

Some people shouldn't watch horror movies
:dunno:

I'm sorry I didn't know graphically murdering little kids was some type of mandatory given in horror? Since when?

You got that right. In fact, a lot of art isn't for everyone. Some things are supposed to be uncomfortable.

I am one of the most "accepting" of that art form MORE than most TRUST. But killing kids is my line. You can DO it. I do not have to watch it or support it. And doing it also doesn't make it "good" or some type of feat. ITs just my personal turnoff.

And its perfectly fine if it is not yours, but aint no way in hell being comfortable watching little kids killed makes you (generally speaking) MORE of a fan as opposed to someone else..

Everybody got their line.

That just happens to be mine. The minute I had kids that switch just turned on for me.

It's not mandatory but I don't see why it can't be explored
How powerful was the scene with the baseball boy in Doctor Sleep

In the movie alligator a kid was eaten in the infamous pool scene

In the blob a kid was killed

In it a killed was killed

I think the movie octopus or tentacles ( whatever it was called)

Technically Freddy was killing teenagers in a bunch of his movies (underage)

In nosferatu kids were killed

In the vampire movie let me in kids were killed

Tons of horror flicks kids are killed.. the horror genre is just that horror.. no one is safe

Hell avp 2 kids were getting killed..once the facehuggers got on the kids face you knew what was up

^^^ THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING.

It can be done. It has been done but not as graphic that is a rarity. And when it HAS been done it wasn't really gratuitous MOST times.

I aint watch it for myself. But horror fans I know were like Big Play? You not gonna be able to watch it.

And in addition, they didn't even think it was WELL DONE. So to me that would add serious insult to injury.

I trust you... was it WELL DONE?

In Doctor Sleep, definitely
You feel it

I was told it was one of the weakest in the movie. And that it really didn't hit overall or feel necessary. Like I said I aint see it and so far no one has convinced me otherwise except for seeing the gumball one.
I wouldn't say its unnecessary
Everything could be unnecessary
It felt more suited for a full length film than an anthology segment were it could've been more fleshed out.
It stuck out because it was darker then the other stories

very fair and vaild. But Jon Jon you know DAMN WELL what I meant when I wrote that.

was it good?
I liked the premise
Kids are disappearing in this town. Local electronics store has a program where you bring in your child and have them videotaped to have a record to help the police/community to aid in helping finding your child if something ever happens to them. They stand in front of a backdrop that shows their height and they answer simple questions. Turns out one of the employees is the one doing the disappearing and making his own tapes.
It felt like a program that would have existed in the 80s. I grew up in the Adam Walsh era. Been to that store were he was taken as a kid and grew up hearing my moms paranoia about not leaving her side.
