* Matt Brown won't weigh in again, and won't be fined, according to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.

"I am going to chalk it up to a miscommunication," California State Athletic Commission executive officer Andy Foster told MMAFighting.com. "He will not be fined because apparently he did not understand I gave him the two hours to run. Even though he told me he would take the fine, he will not be fined."

Brown said that he was told by a CSAC doctor that he will not be allowed to cut any more weight, so he began to rehydrate immediately after the weigh-ins. UFC president Dana White backed up Brown's claim and said Brown is still eligible to win a fight night bonus on Saturday.

UFC on FOX 12 Weigh-in Results: Matt Brown Misses Weight (Updated)

The UFC returns to “Big FOX” on Saturday with UFC on FOX 12: Lawler vs. Brown from San Jose, Calif.

The main event pits Robbie Lawler vs. Matt Brown with the winner earning a crack at UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.

Lawler is coming off of a narrow miss against Hendricks just two fights ago, but bounced back recently against Jake Ellenberger. He now needs a win over Brown, who has been rocketing up the division, to secure another shot at the title.

Brown has won seven consecutive bouts to put himself in this position. Lawler will definitely be his toughest test to date, particularly because the two fighters are practically mirror images of each other. A win over Lawler is Brown's final step towards a coveted shot at the UFC championship belt.

The co-main event features the return of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira from injury. He has no easy task, as he faces a red-hot Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, who recently made his own return to the Octagon.

UFC on FOX 12 Weigh-in Results: Matt Brown Misses Weight (Updated)
Brown missed weight by 1.5 pounds.

Typically, Brown would have been given two hours to see if he could make weight, but UFC president Dana White told reporter Ariel Helwani on the UFC on FOX Weigh-in Show on FOX Sports 1 that the California commission would not allow Brown to cut any additional weight.

White also said that the weight cutting issue would not affect whether or not the fight would be for the No. 1 contender's spot for Brown. He will not be fined by the commission or the UFC, and he will still be eligible for bonuses and the No. 1 contendership.

Enjoy the fights, fam'. Got the DVR set and will watch latenight. Going to a dinner party with some relatives who are in from out of town.

Lawler over Matt Brown and picking Rumble, that's one of my fav fighters, hope he smashes Lil Nog. I can't stand Clay Guida with his jerky movements.

Hell yeah hell yeah.

Robbie muthafuckin Lawler should win but Matt is tough. Rumble also should have his W in the bag. Also can't wait to see Cruickshank v Masvidal at the end of these prelims. Cruickshank's kickboxing has been pretty sick.

I cant wait for this ufc card
Brown vs Lawler and
Rumble Johnson vs Lil Nog should be good

I like the way is how Bobby Green is controlling
the middle of the octagon but he
needs to throw more strikes and kicks
too much damn talking

close fight
I gotta give Green props in this fight
Thomson has a good skill set
but he didnt look good in this fight

I was amazed on how Green was able to control
the center of the octagon
win or lose, he deserves to be in the top 10
of the lightweights
