UFC HEADS: NASTY KO!!!!!

Dude has an akward style..but that hands down shit is a bad recipe to get knocked out...
If Reyes had some good wrestling old boy might have been in trouble, too
But overall he’s an interesting and exciting fighter. Jones would likely wrestle his ass down and choke him out..
Ole Reyes has been getting the short end of the stick since he supposedly “beat” Jon Jones..

This dude's style may be a problem for the 205 division. Dom stunned him but seemed gassed or broken nose again. Would like to see him vs Izzy.

That would be an entertaining match-up if and when Izzy moved up fully to 205.

Sounds like the UFC wants Jiri to fight the winner of Jan-Glover which takes place later this year.

Fighters lose momentum after fighting Jon Jones...it's like he takes a part of their soul. Only a handful of fighters get wins after... Vitor Belfort, Cormier.. Everyone else, the losses start to pile up over their next few fights. Reyes has joined the club.

Agreed. It's really interesting to see the late career resurgence for Glover Teixeira. He's 41 now ... fought and lost handedly to Jon Jones 7 years ago (as of last week), and had his ups and downs for a bit thereafter, but is now on a 5-fight winning streak and facing Jan B' next.

People had counted him out awhile ago.

Should be interesting to see how things play out for Anthony Smith too. He faced Jones 2 years ago, and is 3-3 in his past 6 (including the Jones loss).

‘Want to give props to Funk all the info and time he put into this post. Good stuff.

I don’t agree with this here. Of Jones last four opponents the only one I can’t see reclaiming top spot is Gustafson.

Smith lost by decision and is now rising in the ranks. Santos gave a tough fight on a bum leg and Reyes arguably beat Jones.

If Reyes had a good showing he would’ve been right there. Think this is now his second knockout in a row.

Although Chazka had a great knockout, I wasn’t overly impressed by anything but his chin. He also pushed the wrestling early.

Not sure I’ve seen Santos since the Jones fight but his leg was seriously messed up.

Cant remember when Jones last really good fight was and one of these guys, mainly Santos could catch him slipping.

Neither of them I think could beat a focused Jones if hecomes back down

my $0.02

Carry on.......

Thanks!

Good to see Smith turning things around now. He's old in fight years though (over 50 fights).

Santos did alot of leg damage in that Jones loss, and is 0-2 since returning. He's also 37yo.

Current champ Jan B' is in his late-30s and next opponent (for title fight) Teixeira is early-40s.

What Jiri has on his side is age & time. Only 28yo with great cardio and tons of KO and TKO wins amongst his fight record. Some of the podcast recap shows from yesterday were noting his cardio is very impressive (almost like a lighter weight fighter) with the pace he sets. Plus his erratic style as he dishes out damage (and takes it) will make him a problem for many.

After going undefeated at 3–0 in Light Heavyweight bouts, Santos challenged Jon Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in the main event at UFC 239 on July 6, 2019.[48] He lost the back-and-forth fight via split decision.[49] Despite the loss, Santos was the first fighter in MMA history to win a judge's scorecard against Jones.[50] During the fight he sustained a torn left ACL, PCL, MCL, meniscus, and cracked tibia along with a partially torn right meniscus.[51][52]

@Princenubian - when do you see the Ngannou title fight at heavyweight materializing for Jones? Does he stay up at heavyweight there, or retire soon thereafter (or fight his contract out & move on to another organization). Lots of contractual issues at the moment. He deservedly wants to get PAID properly to face Ngannou as it will be a big PPV seller (and he's seen other Ngannou opponents get seriously fucked up in recent years).

Smart of Usman to request that rematch with Masvidal and get another decent pay day (and KO him in the process). It pays better than facing any of the other potential contenders.

Good of Poirier to get the trilogy fight with McGregor. It will pay better than facing either Chandler or Oliveira who compete for the vacant 155 title in mid-May. Their 2nd fight (January PPV) sold well.

Does McGregor ever look for a Masvidal fight? Does Diaz ever get his trilogy fight with McGregor? Their 2 fights took place in 2016.

Diaz faces Leon Edwards this month.
