UFC 195 - LAWLER v. CONDIT (Jan 2)

Tyrone got next!!!!

In UFC its hard to dethrone a champ unless you do it decisively.

I.E. Shogun VS Machida 1

Like my daddy always said "You gotta BEAT the champ". I thought Condit won too but when you play that "pitty pat tap tap" type of fight it doesn't always work

Just got in from watching the fight....Tony Weeks (that Tony Weeks) needs to be ashamed of himself giving that to Lawler. Condit was solid tonight...Overall a great fight

I had Condit winning rds 1, 3, and 4. I had Lawler winning rds 2 and 5. I think the judges gave condit rounds 1 and 4. Round 5 was a toss up to me and I think round 3 was a tossup as well.

Good card.

The main event delivered, as expected. All hardcore fans knew going in that there was very little chance for Condit & Lawler to be boring. 2 action fighters who deliver ... and set 2016 off on the right note. I hope cats like Lawler & Condit have gotten plenty of nice discretionary bonuses over the years. Check out their damn records, their respective level of competition, and the fact that they perform. These cats are why we follow the damn sport, BGOL fam'. Seriously.

Stipe's legit @ heavyweight - should be interesting to see how he matches up with the winner of the Werdum/Velasquez rematch - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stipe_Miocic#Mixed_martial_arts_record

Enjoyed watching the striking with Larkin & Tumenov. Great kicks from Larkin & Tumenov's striking is fun 2 see when precise & accurate.

Good scrap with Ortega & Brandao. Wasn't sure what to expect with Brandao as he's been up & down in recent years - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Brandão#Mixed_martial_arts_record

Props to Trujillo on the submission. Had thought he would lock in the win via KO or TKO instead.

Great to see Michael McDonald back ... been a fan of his since the WEC days. If you ever want to see a wild scrap ... check out him vs. Brad Pickett from recent years in the UFC. That 1st round is chaos and sets the tone of the fight - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_McDonald_(MMA_fighter)#Mixed_martial_arts_record

Props to Morono coming in on short notice (less than 2 weeks) and winning over Noke (coming off that big win in mid-November). Impressive considering Noke has 10 years more experience and has been fighting better of late.

I need to go back and check out DUFFY & POIRIER from the main event of the Fight Pass prelims.

Party was good ... plenty of drinks, deluxe coffees, pizza, Thai food, chocolates, cigars, greenery, beer & wings.

Here's some visuals from the McDonald-Pickett fight (August 17th, 2013) I mentioned in the previous reply ^ - little cats scrapping ...

I like Robbie Lawler, but Carlos Condit fot robbed tonight. The strike stats aren't loaded with pitty pats and crammed in two busy rounds. Condit was landing ALL NIGHT LONG and hurting Lawler, even knocking him down multiple times. This is the type of decision that become far too common in UFC fight, that make it feel so WWE.

Just finishing watch it. It was a good card. Larkin could've had that fight. He had dude's leg gone, but couldn't box for shit. Condit won that fight. You'd be blind if you couldn't see he at least won on points. They bought had knock down hits. Even the 5th round where Lawler unloaded, Condit still held his own and Lawler still couldn't finish a basically stumbling Condit. I'm little bias cause Condit is one of my favorite fighters, but I genuinely think he won that fight.

Good main event!! I thought that Carlos Condit won, just like the majority of the world, sad to hear he may retire due to this loss :smh:

I picked Condit to win the fight and IMO I was right. Condit was robbed. Still a great fight but Condit clearly won 3 rounds to Robbie's 2.

Ming ... Lawler seemingly swelled up considerably post-event leading to the press conference. Didn't look as bad at the end of the fight, but it was definitely notable 30 - 45 minutes later. Watched the presser when I got home (they air them on The Fight Network in Canada, for our BGOL fam' north of the border). That 5th round of Condit-Lawler was the shit though. I'd love to see these 2 rematch. Hopefully Condit doesn't retire at this point. Props to Lawler too ... he's put on some exciting match-ups in recent years, and that level of competition ... damn ... Hendricks x 2 / MacDonald x 2 / Matt Brown / Carlos Condit, etc. GDamn. Ain't no bitches in that list.

Enjoyed that Duffy-Poirier scrap too. Had a chance to check it out. Recommend it for the fam' on here who missed it from the Fight Pass prelims before the televised prelims aired.

Illdog - Shame too as it takes away from the main event. Dana White felt as though Condit won too, and you could tell Lorenzo Fertitta did too. When you watch the decision read ... look for him in the back about 10 - 15 feet behind Condit. He isn't amped & stays pretty much in place and exchanges a look with Condit. Props to both fighters though. Class acts. No trashing the opponent pre- or post-fight. Shaking hands at the post-fight presser when Carlos arrived late & made his way past a seated Lawler en route to his spot. They earned their $50k bonuses and hopefully scored some additional discretionary bonuses by mail in the weeks ahead. Hopefully Lawler landed extra $$$ for that wild scrap with Rory MacDonald in July 2015 too. GDamn.
