UFC 195 - LAWLER v. CONDIT (Jan 2)

Illdog - Shame too as it takes away from the main event. Dana White felt as though Condit won too, and you could tell Lorenzo Fertitta did too. When you watch the decision read ... look for him in the back about 10 - 15 feet behind Condit. He isn't amped & stays pretty much in place and exchanges a look with Condit. Props to both fighters though. Class acts. No trashing the opponent pre- or post-fight. Shaking hands at the post-fight presser when Carlos arrived late & made his way past a seated Lawler en route to his spot. They earned their $50k bonuses and hopefully scored some additional discretionary bonuses by mail in the weeks ahead. Hopefully Lawler landed extra $$$ for that wild scrap with Rory MacDonald in July 2015 too. GDamn.

Have to agree 100%...much respect, no childish hype, 2 professional fighters doing their thing..Rematch...$$??

Man! that was a good fight... I had Lawler winning.. Carlos was doing a whole lot of nothing... Robbie was doing damage..

2 consumate professionals. Happy for Lawler in recent years. A guy most people in the MMA space had forgotten about prior to his UFC return. Look at his streak in recent years, compared to how hit and miss he was in Strikeforce & Elite XC prior. Now he's champion of one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC. The division that was long dominated by GSP who unfortunately played it safer in his approach, but took a fair amount of damage against Condit & Hendricks in his final few years. Compared with all the damage he put on the likes of Fitch, Alves, Koscheck & others back in the day.

Condit's long been one of my fave fighters. Just all-out action in the WEC & UFC. Only ever got majorly criticized when he stuck to a conservative game plan in winning the interim 170lb strap over Diaz, ensuring his own match-up with GSP upon his return.

I'd love to see a Condit-Lawler rematch.

That said ... the division is quite interesting at the moment.

- Matt Brown wants to eventually make his way to title contention
- Hendricks is facing Thompson soon
- Woodley is awaiting his own title shot & needs to hear word about what'll happen with Condit-Lawler & rematch potential there
- Condit has hinted at retirement
- How many years does Lawler have left?
- How much more damage can Lawler take? The sheer impact taken in the Hendricks fights x 2, MacDonald, and Condit fights is astounding. Fam' is a fighting machine!
- Who does Rory MacDonald match up with making his way back in the division? He's lost twice to Lawler in recent years. Sounds like he has Hector Lombard in the near future
