Tyson Fury Vs. Deontay Wilder III: Trilogy Fight Reportedly Set For July

The trilogy reportedly is on the horizon. Former heavyweight titleholder Deontay Wilder exercised his right to an immediate third fight with Tyson Fury, according to ESPN’s Dan Rafael. The news comes shortly after Fury defeated Wilder in the second meeting of the two fighters Feb. 22. The fight is set to take place July 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Top Rank chairman Bob Arum, Fury’s co-promoter, told ESPN on Sunday.

Wilder and Fury previously fought to a controversial draw in their first meeting back in December 2018. When the two decided on the first rematch, it was constructed as a two-fight deal with the loser having the right to have an immediate third fight if they wanted. Wilder said he would pick up the option for a third fight after he lost.

Wilder’s recent loss to Fury was the first defeat of his career, now holding a 42-1-1 record with 41 knockouts. Fury will enter the trilogy fight 30-0-1 with 21 knockouts.

He loses. Fury knows he will jab, come forward and try to cut off the ring. He can’t do any of those. Fury is taller so just jab at his gloves when he shells up, then stick one through the gloves, slide. Spear jab, slide and double jab. If fury does so much as remembers to throw body shots, it’s over AGAIN. Fury should jab off his toes, then drop for a spear jab and circle out if there’s no uppercut.

So he is looking at 5 months to develop a left Jab and a defense. I hope he keeps Mark Breland in his corner because a corner full of yesmen will not help you in a fight.

Breland is obviously garbage as a trainer. Look how he has Deontay fighting.

He also has to come up with a defense to getting" licked".... both ways.... fight wise and blood wise

This is simple. If a dude kept whooping yo ass in yo grandmama's backyard, but you got $100K every time he did...regardless of outcome. Wouldn't you keep fighting him?

Same situation here, but it's millions instead. Wilder isn't the fool. the idiots are the viewers who are paying to see this shit!

Floyd offering to train Wilder... says if he does he guarantees victory for him
If Floyd pulls this off he could go on and become one of the next great boxing trainers ever,
young phenom boxers would flock to him for his boxing knowledge ;)

Are we talking Floyd Sr. or Money May? I can't see young Floyd being a trainer. Not enough money for the amount of time he will spend working.

Agreed! i can't see Money May settling down to train a fellow boxer...i don't think Floyd's even 40 yet

It's delicate because you don't want to fight too soon and you don't want to wait too long. I think September would have been better. Unless they're fighting outside and Wilder's camp thinks the temperature will help them.
Anyway, as damn near every fight fan and pundit has noted, if Wilder doesn't become more than a one-trick pony he'll be going to sleep.

Wilder has a chance based on

1. His power (simple punchers chance)
2. If Fury is unmotivated
3.....

Well that's about it. Mostly #2

Lennox Lewis rematched Hasim Rahman 7 months after he got knocked out COLD.
Mike Tyson fought 4 months after losing badly to Buster Douglas.
