Supernatural's Scooby-Doo crossover was one of the series' most hyped episodes in a long time, and everyone from fans to the show's cast and crew was excited to see how it would turn out. As one might imagine, this reflected in the ratings and Sam and Dean's romp with Mystery Inc. resulted in a pretty big night for the returning series. The Supernatural crossover's ratings ended up matching the show's best numbers for the season, which happened back in the show's Season 13 premiere.

Supernatural's crossover episode scored a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic and drew in about 2 million viewers with the help of Scooby and the gang. The episode pulled in 30% more of the show's key demo and 20% more total viewers than the show's previous episode, which aired two weeks prior. Basically, whatever Supernatural crew member thought up the idea for "Scoobynatural," deserves a Scooby Snack, because these ratings show it was a very good night for the Winchester brothers.

Supernatural's crossover success of the night did not translate to Arrow, which Deadline said followed after and held steady to its usual turnout. While The CW would've surely loved to see that large audience carryover into its next show, the data may have shown that fans are interested in the network's shows taking more risks. Of course, it's not like many Supernatural fans were upset about the Scooby-Doo crossover, but it definitely should make some executives wonder what other out-there pairings shows could do in an effort to bring in more viewers.

It's hard to imagine The CW worries too much about what gets tried on Supernatural now that it's 13 seasons in, but if there were any reigns, they've surely been loosened with the success of this crossover. Now that the show has proven it can do something as wild as a Scooby-Doo adventure, the bar has been set for how the show is going to top it come Season 14. With the Arrow-verse and John Constantine on The CW, it would be very easy to pull the Winchester brothers in for a superhero adventure. Or, Supernatural could just do a "Scoobynatural Part 2," and throw in Scrappy-Doo and the Harlem Globetrotters? Maybe that adventure is better off as a Blu-ray release for Scooby-Doo fans.

Supernatural airs on The CW Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. 2018 is in full swing in terms of television and it can be hard to keep track of all the new things coming to television with so many channels and streaming platforms to keep track of. Outstanding episode of Supernatural...

It continues to amaze me how this show is able to make you legit care about a character in two episodes. Like the red haired reaper only made a brief throw away cameo in an early episode .. and yet I was all in on the chick this episode.

Even made you feel bad for or sympathize with Rowena! The concept of heaven may be shutting down and what that looks like!

Like seriously I’ve got no idea how they are able to do this... but they continue to drop new concepts 13 years in the game. I mean 9 total angels and the ones in heaven can’t leave.... that’s huge.

Another thing that got me.. I watch the older episodes on Netflix like they new! But the episode they went to Chicago and there were the mafia monsters! The black guy’s girl was killed and he got in the game! His pops was dead but used electronics to communicate with him! Then the all female cast they had with Jodie, that other thick ass cop with the blonde hair, the black psychic girl and a hunter.. I wonder if or why those concepts didn’t spin off into like a supernatural universe?

The episode with the chics was actually the pilot episode for the spin off. I'm guessing CW didn't buy or they cant get the funding for more the series. The only reason Supernatural is still on is because they have a dedicated niche fan base. Crazy when you think about it but this show has been on tv since Small-vile and Gilmore girls was a thing

Even though I knew there was no way Sam was permanently dead...

That was still shocking... it’s crazy how they continue to constantly bring new shit to the table. Like Fucking Lucifer bringing him back. That’s crazy...

It’s still one of CW’s higher rated shows...

I’m actually thankful for their fan base.. it’s one of the few SciFi fantasy shows that seems to be getting better the older it gets.

Its the law and order of the genre

Without the iron clad format.

It has so much in common with twilight zone star trek outer limits night gallery.

There style is very much like a whedon writing room...

Big bad
Season long quest
Sprinkled in stand alone episodes
Mythology building
Very self referencial.
Very pop modern
Flipping common story tropes
Staying loyal to classic techniques
Honoring the fans.

Imagine the Supernatural crew showrunning Justice League Dark TV series?

This show is greatly under appreciated

It has only one real weakness

You CANNOT do that show without them Winchester Boys.
