on the note about firing cops. i have heard that cops have to carry insurance for them to carry a weapon and be a police officer and that if you name the insurance carrier in a law sut it becomes too expensive for them to carry the insurance, therefore, the cops loses his job bc he cant carry the insurance required to carry a firearm....any truth to that?

I have never heard anybody talk about actual police having to have insurance. And with massive payouts that some cities have had to pay and the fact alot of those cops get to keep their jobs, I highly doubt cops are being forced to carry any type of insurance policy. Private security services maybe a different story.

The issue in my case was even though I had grounds to sue the city for the officer misconduct. My client cared more about the office getting fired. That’s where the problem was because he was on duty when this happened. The Police union blocked the hearing that I originally had scheduled. So my client just said Fuck it and decided to settle.
