Deadly Coachella, CA. Crash I-10 Accident Caught On Camera
July 11, 2025

A terrifying, deadly accident was caught on camera in California. A white tractor trailer could be seen traveling in the slow, right hand lane. All of a sudden, it veered left. It crossed several lanes of traffic while rolling onto its side. The truck plowed through a guardrail in the median strip, and right into the opposite lane. Some cars in that eastbound lane were unable to stop in time, and hit the overturned truck.

New rules to remove safety devices from semi-trucks could let them zoom down the nation’s highways at top-speed

June 30, 2025

The U.S. Department of Transportation has scrapped a rule mandating speed-limiting devices on heavy-duty trucks, allowing them to race along the nation’s highways at top speed.

The devices in question, also known as governors, place a limit on the maximum speed at which large trucks can travel by preventing their engines from running any faster than a preset number of revolutions per minute. This typically means they cannot go faster than 55 to 70mph in the interest of safety and improving fuel efficiency.

But their requirement is now being dropped as part of a new DOT package intended to ease conditions for long-haul truckers. It also includes a $275m investment in expanding truck parking spaces and simplifying the wording of federal regulations...

More than 130 union truck drivers and mechanics in Tolleson are expected to lose their jobs by the end of August after grocery giant Kroger terminated its contract with a third-party transportation provider.

For decades, the Tolleson distribution center has kept shelves stocked for every Fry’s food store in Arizona. The drivers and mechanics—represented by Teamsters Local 104—work for Ruan Transportation, a company contracted to handle deliveries and vehicle maintenance for Kroger-owned Fry’s and Smith’s stores...

130 truck drivers and mechanics will lose their jobs by the end of the summer after failed Teamsters negotiations with Kroger led to a cancelled contract.

Vice President of of Teamsters Local 104, Josh Graves, says that the Teamsters had a contract with Ruan Transport Corporation, which contracted with Kroger to hire truck drivers and diesel mechanics at the Kroger warehouse in Tolleson, Arizona. A three year contract between Ruan and Kroger was signed in 2023, which included a clause allowing Kroger to exit the contract with a 90 day notice, reported AZ Central.

In July, the Teamsters union was notified that Kroger had chosen to cancel the contract with Ruan and will soon be working with Swift instead. The last day of employment for truck drivers and mechanics contracted through Ruan will be August 27th. The Teamsters and Ruan have since offered concessions to Kroger in an attempt to keep the contract, but their offers were not accepted.

The WARN notice filed by Ruan lists a total of 144 that will soon lose their jobs. Arizona Senator, Ruben Gallago, sent a letter on July 22nd, urging Kroger executives to reconsider the decision he says was sparked by failed Teamsters negotiations…

FMCSA removes two ELDs from list of approved devices, truck drivers should revert to paper logs

CDLLife
July 31, 2025

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) removed two Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) from the agency’s list of approved devices.

On July 31, 2025, FMCSA announced that the following two ELDs have been revoked for failure to meet minimum standards:

WALKER ELD

Model Number: WAL-R
ELD Identifier: WLK790
ELD Provider: Walker ELD System INC

SR ELD

Model Number: SR-E
ELD Identifier: SRE288
ELD Provider: SR ELD LLC

FMCSA advises carriers using these ELDs to take the following steps:

Discontinue using the revoked ELDs and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data.

Replace the revoked ELDs with compliant ELDs from the Registered Devices list before September 29, 2025.

Carriers using these devices have 60 days to replace them with FMCSA-compliant ELDs. During that time, law enforcement and safety personnel are encouraged not to cite truck drivers for 95.8(a)(1) – “No record of duty status” or 395.22(a) – “Failing to use a registered ELD.” Instead, law enforcement should request the driver’s paper logs, logging software, or use the ELD display as a back-up method to review the driver’s hours-of-service information.

Starting September 29, 2025, motor carriers who continue to use the revoked devices listed above will be considered as operating without an ELD, and safety personnel should cite the driver 395.8(a)(1), and place the driver out-of-service.

“If the ELD provider corrects all identified deficiencies for its device, FMCSA will place the ELD back on the list of registered devices and inform the industry of the update. However, FMCSA strongly encourages motor carriers to take the actions listed above now to avoid compliance issues in the event that the deficiencies are not addressed by the ELD provider,” the agency said.
