***Tripster's 2008 Investments (Ongoing thread)***

Keep recycling COIN/COINW/COINZ, its a great trading stock/warrants,,,easy money, buyon the dips & wait for the bounce...

yea i like it for that I was testing it but now that i got a better feel ill do a little more in it send more of them for us newbs to get used to

Whats's up Fam. Finally got my tax return and plan to put $1100 into the market to get my feet wet. While my goal is to be a long term investor, My immediate desire is to try a few different stocks with a Day trader mentality & learn the ropes. I have read every page of this thread (Got my return the day after that Visa IPO:angry:) and have a lot of knowledge swimming in my head. What do you guy's think of the XM/Sirius stock. They are both low (especially sirius) but if the FCC approves the merger I can see one of them moving up.

BTW, thanks to Tripster & all the others for sharing in this thread. Hopefully I can join in soon w/ useful commentary.

If you're long term you should still get some visa, about $500 worth , then day trade with the rest. Visa has just begun. You will lose money if you day trade and you will make some, but overall you will likely lose more than what you make.

Welcome on board, hope your journey goes well..Some keep talking about this XM/Siri deal, personally, I don't see the point of investing in companies that can only dream of profits, you say they are low, they are low for a reason, they churn money they don't have. in this market to me there are far better things for one to invest in, but that's just me. As a first time investor, I'd say find yourself companies with profitabilty & strong growning revenues as your start point. The first 20 pages of this tread are loaded with picks, POT/MOS/PAL/SWC/TGB/TNH/TITN/ so many others..can't even remeber them all..

Thanks, I'm reviewing the previous pages as we speak. What do you think is a good price for coinz to buy in at? it was at $6.50 last I checked. forgot to mention, i already have 35 shares of PCS i bought at $27. any suggestions? It's down to $17 now. Sit on it? Take the loss and move what i have into other stocks?

i said I have a lot of knowledge but i meant to say info. Knowledge is what I'm working on. I appreciate the reply. When you say long term, Are you talking 6 months, a year, 5 years?

Do any of you own any Stocks in AGRICULTURE?.

Anyinput on Argentina AGRICULTURE stocks?

Im also back on coin:D

AGs, man, this board is All AG all the TIME lol:yes:
You want AG, start w. POT/MOS/MON/AGU/CF/TNH/TRA/
You want lil AG risk play, get COIN/GENC (low volume, big mover)
You want some AG growth get TITN/IPI (once it IPOs),TITN has picked up great volume of late,..touch new 52 week high at 22 today but closed down under 20)

& If you want big money you buy the call options on any of these on ANY dips, guaranteed big buck returns, pull up any chart & you'll see the bounces off selloffs...a few days back POT was 136, now 158, TNH 103, now 120, they all run the same pattern. Great to buy after selloffs...

Oh COIN, they are paying a dividend soon, 1 share for each 20 held, so if you hold the stock a bit you get some free shares, but man the flip on it is tempting...the COINW&COINZ are great if you get em cheap,,,the stock is a mover & seems like it will run when Ags run,,,

NOw for an AG w/ Argentinian exposure, that i'll have to see to look into..

Wait for a sell off in AGs, when COIN falls say 10+%, then the COINw/COINz will drop about 15-20%, Its strange, to time it but, it runs up big like today & could run again tommorow or sell off..its a crazy stock...we play it as a pure play risk stock, nothing more nothing less. So as of today COINZ/COINW are expensive, IF COIN doesnt run tommorow,,if it loses some gains, then they may become a nice pickup

Damn, you got caught with a telecom stock..hmmm,,best i can say is hope for a buyout, but being that much in the red I'd say thats a wrap/Telecoms are a trash sector w/ nothing but consolidation to look 4ward to. I'd look for either $20 or $16 & get out & try to find gains elsewhere

My Man said " Finally got my tax return and plan to put $1100 into the market to get my feet wet...." MY NICCA!!! (Like Denzel in Training Day) Good Bizness, Cobra.....I love to hear about brothers making money, rather than buying rims and shit with their tax returns. First thing, read the business section of your newspaper everyday. This is your money, see what people are talking about. Surely XM and Sirius will rise one the merger is completed, but how much is the question, and which stock is buying whom. You dont want to be on the lower end of that purchase.

Also Don't sleep on that Bear Stearns stock (BSC) either, shit doubled on Tuesday from 5something a share to 12something. Chase aint no punk when it comes to this shit. Hell JP Morgan (Chase) help start the Federal Reserve, so to have the Fed back the takeover, Chase knows what they are doing, even if isn't ethical. Look for Bear Stearns to be in the $40-50 range in the next six to eight months, three weeks ago it was in the $80 range, and I am willing to bet that Chase is willing to do what it takes to get it back in the range......

Just remember, before you put your money down, do research. See what people are saying, what's the 52 week high and 52 week low, what is it trending, up or down. WHY? Do they have a big product launching soon, are they about to have layoffs? This things push stock prices up.

Once you put your money down. Let it ride, you brought because you believed in them. So buy something that you know a something about. You want to know about XM or Sirius, which service do you own? Have you listened to it? How do you like it, and what about the people you know? what are they saying about either service? You can log into AOL, and listen to XM for free (right now).

That is why I like Apple stock. Apple is everywhere. I was in the airport headed home from LA with the fam, when my wife pointed out four brothers were sitting close to the power plug, but they were not together, in the terminal all with macbooks and iphones. (she was like go join your frat brothers....talking about Macheads) You cant watch the stock five times day, and then when it is down, you say funk it, and cut your losses. The story is to buy low, and sell high, most people buy high, and then have to sell low to cut their losses. Apple is looking real good right now. In June-July they will be in the $200 range......Look at Google, I never though that they would be in the $300-$400 range, when their IPO was in the $100 range, back in Nov. they were over $700 a share, you use google everyday, and you know that all your people, and their people are using google, so they are destine to go back up.

Dont be upset at the Visa IPO either, it is difficult to get in on the IPO price, they got that shit on lock for the big boys. But you can get in shortly after. But the big boys got the shit rigged in their favor when it comes to the IPO jump offs.

Once you get into the game, you will realize just how much money is to be made. Black, White, Brown, or Blue......It doesnt take a whole lot to grow your Green, homie. Good Luck

Good to see another investor join the fold! As far as XM/Sirius, I believe the market is waiting on what the FCC is going to say about the merger. But the approval from the DOJ is good news. However, it seems that many are skeptical when it comes to the viability of satellite radio. I owned SIRI for a while, but it was largely a non-performer. Do you own a satellite radio? If so, why....if not, why? Those are the questions that you need to ask yourself to determine your level of investment in that company.

As for me, I'm waiting on the dip to $2.50 before I purchase any more SIRI. But $3 is not a bad play, however in my opinion, this is a LONG term play (2-3 years).

Let's Get It!

By the way, I'm still sick from passing on BSC (Bear Stearns) at $3 last week. The sting wont go away. The bounce defied logic for me, but I should have know better because the same thing happend to Countrywide (CFC). The lesson is, you just CAN'T be caught sleeping...always have your head on a swivel.

I See you've learned a new word, you need to learn how to use such words in their proper context, dummy.

I am very interested in thoughts on that Sirius stock! At $2.83, you can't beat getting in on it now. What happens to the Sirius stock if they merge with XM? has anyone dealt with this before?

Also, what are the thoughts on Ebay ... I followed the trend for the past 5 years, and they seem to jump up around holiday time. (October-November)I think folks are more intuned with online shopping, and purchasing from EBAY. What do you think?

Ratt,,,I'm not going to say much on the SIRI/XM issue as I'm not to adept on the background. SIRI & XM are both troublesome companies & financially neither is sound. Is sattelite radio going to be around in 5 years, who knows.

As for eBay, they best years of eBay are behind it, if you want to play a x-mas holiday up play get Amazon instead. eBay has lost so many of thier seller due to the rate increases that Amazon wil benefit greatly. While eBay is iconic, its losing alot of its luster...

Anyway that last run down advice on Ags was serious. Nice run on TITN maybe I can get in on a pull back. Peace

Let's just let the dude off the hook, he's bringing nothing to the table so let's not even seat 'em

TITN, yea it was a nice run BUT,,,the pullback you speaking of is happenig right now...they will release earnings in the next two weeks & it should be spectacular..ALSO, MOS will be releasing earnings on 4/4 upcoming friday, also an dept of Ag report is droppin on monday. Ags are shaping up to have some vital events in the near term, POT is the king, & the king is $2.oo off its 52 week high.....
Also,,,that risk pick COIN is actually looking like things will pick up soon,,if you are a holder on 3/31 you will recieve 1 additional share for every 20 held, it will be paid on 4/14...so its looking more & more like they will have another big run coming...

I'm hoping to see 23-25 on TITN soon, earnings & guidance will propel it....

Hey Popo what do you think of the upcoming Agricultural IPO:

Farmers dreaming of fertile fields can turn to CVR Partners. The company makes nitrogen fertilizers. From its fertilizer manufacturing facility in Kansas, CVR Partners produces ammonia and urea ammonia nitrate (UAN). The company sells ammonia to agricultural and industrial customers such as Interchem and National Cooperative Refinery Association and provides UAN products to retailers and distributors. To lower production costs, CVR Partners uses petroleum coke instead of the more common -- and expensive -- raw material, natural gas. The company buys the majority of its petroleum coke from CVR Energy, which founded CVR Partners in 2007.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I can still remember having it up on Ameritrade and was about to hit buy for just $200 worth. Not a lot but I would be swimming in a great profit right now if I had pulled the trigger. Don't worry Trip...you not the only one pissed.:angry::angry:

WOW...you have made my day & likey in the future will make me some G's. THis is a nice one, i love that share structure..5M will be a thin/low trader but will be a mover..I have to see where they stand in terms of revenues but,,,its a BUY in my book, AG is so strong right now, a few companies i see are either spinning off Ag sections of thier biz (as in this case CVI is spinning off) some are selling thier AG units (ConAgra), it makes sense there is a ripe market for Ag IPOs. I will look fo this to price & hit the market as well as IPI (Intrepid Potash)... my 2008 is all about AG & Metals, and fast trades of all other opportunities, but AG & Metals will be 2008s story as the dollar continues to slide...thanks for this drop..a recent IPo TITN will have in my opinion a good 2 week coming...

All picks suffered after heavy runups, the metals & commodities have become increasingly volatile, particularly gold & silver, All AG picks are money makers on timely trades, AGU/DE/MON/MOS/TNH/TRA/CF/POT/TITN/COIN, fluctuations will occur as most these stocks have a $5-$10 spread between daily lows & highs. I continue to be bullish on AG sector, this week MON & MOS report earnings, hopefully some posiive guidance will push the sector back up...

To all those w/ losing positions, whether it be PAL/SWC/TGB/etc., just know what you're in & if you can hold out do so, if not sell & find new opportunities where you may recoup...

We'll see what 2Q08 brings...........

pick up some TITN on the cheap, also HOGS & GEOI

with earnigns coming soon TITN should bounce off 17s nicely. HOGS is in a nice upward pattern on growing revs as is GEOI, they are all three thinly traded so , dont expect too much volume excitement....
Also PAL+,PAL.WT (warrant) are looking attractive at 2.00

Bought some more visa @$60 today and I picked up Delta Airlines @ $8.00 last week, its up to $9.30 today and my Fannie mae is rising. I am having a good day today. I pray it remains that way.

I just about broke even in TMA. I made some money and lost it when it appeared they were going bankrupt. I am going to watch the trend before I get back in it. It appears stagnant for now.

I got back in on the TMA to try and get back some of the loss i took a couple weeks ago, but it aint really doing shit now. im just waiting for a good enough jump to flip it real quick

I hear you. I initially made $800 from TMA and I am in the hole $145. I will get back in to recoup it. I am trying to see if it will go under$1 because it hasn't done shit since yesterday. People were expecting to retire on the expected spike from yesterday's news but not shit happened.

Guys, another stock that does a steady 20% swing almost every 2 weeks is PZE (Brazillian Petroluem) I have been following it and I always make about 10% biweekly. I recently got in at 10.30, it is at 11.35 today.
