Travel heads: Does anyone have Global Entry?

I have the Sapphire Preferred. I should've just gone with the Reserve, but I was worried I wouldn't use the card enough to justify the $450 annual fee.

I feel you, that was basically me the past two years. My plan was (still is) to travel more (eventually) so I make it work and hold on to it for now.

"What you asking this dumbass question for, you broke ass nigga? my $695 annual American Express card gives me this shit for free!"

I'm getting it very soon. It's worth it.

It's a must have. The customs line in ATL is 2 hrs without it!!! Strange thing tho....you can have a felony and get Tsa pre check and Clear...but that felony will stop you from getting Global Entry.

I had clear but cancelled. What benefit do you get from it above and beyond TSA pre?
CLEAR is extremely beneficial in big airports like ATL and LAX. They have a dedicated pre and standard lane. I hate waiting in airport lines, so with CLEAR, you go right past TSA, just show your boarding pass. If you ever had to travel through ATL, you'll no the benefit of having CLEAR. Again, AMEX platinum pays for all those perks, every month, and on a side note, SIRIUSXM as well.

If you plan on traveling in and out of the country more then 10 times over the next 5 years, you have to get it, especially if you are single. You save time with TSA Pre-Check, no waiting in line so you can get to duty store quicker and sample the alcohols before your plane takes off. Coming back into the country, the passport lines are crazy long cause other planes besides yours are coming in. With Global Entry, you have your own machines to check back in with and a short line with the Pilots to walk into the luggage area. Sometimes they don't even man the GE booth cause they need help with passport lines. The time you save means you can hit the can and change shirts or wash your face before the luggage unloads.

I like being the last one off the plane, so I am not around the nuts that be rushing and cutting to get off the plane so they can get to the passport line faster. All of them that were rushing still don't beat me, cause I am able to bypass the passport line.

Worst part is when traveling with other that don't have it.

It’s definitely worth it. I breeze through US customs, no fuss and no mess. Well worth it. I’m actually surprised at how cheap it is, cause I’d pay 5x that amount.

Don’t hesitate, pull that trigger on it. You’ll be happy you did.

I just renewed mine last month.
Very worth it if you travel internationally frequently.
It can save you a lot of time going through customs.
It saved me from me from missing a connecting flight once in Charlotte.
The issue most people find is getting the interview done which is basically just a review of your application and finger printing.
I think the best luck folks have is walk in at the airport if they have an office there.

Use mobile passport it's free and the same shit

But global entry comes with tsa pre included. Tsa pre for for domestic flights is amazing, use a different scanner, don't take off your shoes or belt, rapid line. you can't beat that shit

Tsa pre is $85
Global is $100

And most credit cards will give it to you for free

Get that shit

when i start to travel internationally more, i'll probably get it.
right now im fine with my TSA Pre-Check

Clocked a recent international arrival at JFK...

Only carry-on luggage...20 minutes from plane to curbside...

Another jumbo jet arrived around the same time too...

And if driving from Canada to states, GE allows you to use the Nexus lanes. But all passengers must have GE

I've never been to that airport, but I heard connecting in Charlotte is a nightmare because of how the terminals are structured..

Still waiting on these people to approve my shit smh
That process can take up to 18 months depending on the documents they’re looking at and feel the need to investigate. How longs it been so far?

7 months.

I don't understand. I rarely travel overseas, never been arrested or any questionable shit like that

How do some people get their approval overnight and some have to wait so long?

All this talk about international travel is making me depressed. Damn I being held hostage, no escape path out of the U.S.; just got the bad news today. I got played in a job interview by a racial opportunist, my desperation just overcame my bad feelings I was having about the situation.

Time for my migrant bus and sleeping in some homeless shelter. I suspected I was being detained, today just confirmed my suspicion.

Yea that sounds about right, particularly the rarely traveling overseas part. They hesitate and investigate fully with new international travelers.

The folks who get theirs asap are usually the ones who have either traveled plenty, and have a track record, clean arrest history, clean bank accounts etc..

One trick that I’ve seen work is that since you have an application pending, leave the country for a few days and come back. You’ll most likely get a response while you’re out, so they can interview you when you come back in. It kinda pushes your application along in that sense. I’ve seen that on 2-3 separate occasions. It’s not a guarantee but worth a shot.

I had it when I traveled for work. Definitely made life easier. Traveled with a coworker that didn't have one. Had a whole meal and a nap while I was waiting for him to get though a check point.

Didn't know about that trick, but I visited Jamaica twice while my application was pending and haven't heard anything

Ah damn.. might just be bad luck of the draw fam. May have to just wait it out.

When you do get back and have your conditional interview, make sure you don’t lie about anything. They check every single aspect of your life and they’ll ask you about it at customs cause it’s the “trusted travelers” program so they wanna make sure they can trust you. So no matter what they ask, no matter how insignificant or embarrassing it may be, answer with the absolute truth. You’ll be approved and get your paperwork in the mail shortly after.

You can call to have it escalated at (877) 227-5511 but they primarily consider people who've been waiting at least 9 months
