Toyota agree to build $1.6 billion dollar plan in KLAN BAMMA! why????

1. Most those workers will be black.

2. Alabama is cheap as fuck why would they build in an expensive state like California. Its simple economics. Its why Tesla is in the Nevada desert. No tax cheap land.

Most car plants are in southern states. Honda, Mercedes-Benz etc

They tried to get that plant here in Illinois, it would have brought a lot of jobs.

Shit I work for FCA (Fiat Chrysler) we union tho, those car companies go to the south so they don't have to deal with a union because those fools down there always voting against having a union.

That was the discussion on the news today about the cost of living for the workers plus the state pays for and trains car manufacture line workers. This will make the fourth plant here.

Mercedes, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota

They gave them huge tax breaks just like they did Mercedes and Hyundai in this state. There are all kinds of new plants in Alabama for that reason.

Exactly right broski. Plus we already build the motors in huntsville so logistically, its cheaper from all aspects.

Huntsville metro went from 180k - 400k in 20 years. There's a lot of jobs there. Only thing we lack is entertainment. But that's slowly changing. Black folks can live comfortably in HSV...a lil different in the other AL cities

trust me. it's a lot more racist places in the US than Alabama. lots more places
You would think that Alabama would be the most militant state in the united snakes. Our history is known all over the world. Every state around us has lottery but us. Just a few years ago right after cutting down the lottery for Alabama they built casinos supposedly for the Indians to be ran by the Indians. It is like blacks are just here tied to whites. These crooked rich powerful whites in Alabama still rule with a heavy hand. In some of these small cities judges and others are God and do people however they want to. The southern values is the only thing important in this state. And to think that the slaves fought on the side of the north and south. That is super mind control.
Actually their should be some real black foundations and bases here. Muhammad Ali had built a car called the champ. If I had the money I would fight for EV to take the place of these gas powered cars. Something the oil companies and the government will kill to keep from happening.
I have not worked a regular job in over 10 or 15 years. But still trying to overcome the system. I am still a reject of the system. It is good to see that come to Alabama but when we had Ft. Mcclellan in Anniston Alabama and it was money for a lot of people in Alabama they got rid of it to turn it into an incinerator for nuclear weapons and stuff. Of all the places for that they chose Alabama.
They had a Monsanto chemical plant not far from Ft. Mcclellan.
Since the 1990s, several investigations have been conducted to characterize the exposure of Anniston residents to PCBs from the Monsanto plant. In 2015, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) published an assessment of the potential health risks caused by airborne PCBs in Anniston and concluded that the concentrations found were "not expected to result in an increased cancer risk or other harmful health effects in people living in the neighborhoods outside the perimeter of the former PCB manufacturing facility."

Toyota moved its headquarters from California to Plano, Texas... These states
in the South are pulling all the stops to lure companies like this from the Industrial
states. The labour and tax laws are all corporate friendly, and companies basically
get to do what they want.

The sad thing is that the corporate anti-union policies are eroding the very rights
that were secured by the hard struggle and sacrifice of workers in the heavy
manufacturing industries in America... The workers in Alabama will expect an 8
hour work day, some sort of vacation, healthcare etc, etc.... They are getting these
things not because they are acquiescing to the whim of corporations, but because
workers before them in cities like Chicago, fought, suffered, and even died, for
many of these things to exist.

^^^This times 1000%!!!

It has absolutely nothing to do with race. It is all about cheap(er) labor. Unions can be a pain to deal with. Pay someone $35 an hour because it is union standard or pay someone $20.

Not only that, the land is cheaper to build the plant on.

why ya'll keep buying from companies who do this type of shit?

Workers assemble engines at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Huntsville, Alabama. North Carolina has lost out to Alabama on landing the much sought-after Toyota-Mazda joint auto manufacturing plant, which would have brought 4,000 jobs to the state. Courtesy of Toyota

There's already an engine plant in Huntsville, and local suppliers, not only because of the existing plant but because Nissan is 2 hours away in Tennessee and Mississippi, (along with another Toyota plant) and Hyundai and Kia are 3 hours away.

You do know unions were created to protect CAC jobs from freed slaves right?

It's always cheaper to move manufacturing to third world countries like Alabama

cheap as fuck
lots of land
no union
cheap labor
tax breaks
local support giveaways like transportation and business resources

Simple.

Alabama is a right to work state and non-friendly to unions; foreign companies especially the Japanese ones will NOT build
somewhere where employees will unionize.

They also like to build where unemployment is higher and folks are desperate for “good” jobs. $13-$15/hour is like manna from heaven for a lot of these places and the company will tell them “you know, if you unionize we’ll be foraced to close and move and you’ll never find a job that pays this well anywhere else”. So they know the employees will snitch on ANYONE who dares mention a joining a union.

money is green and that is the bottom line. probably got a cheaper deal in Alabama just like companies who move out of the US. money is the bottom line.

Exactly bruh! Shit I will be at almost $30 an hour by 2020, without our union I wouldn't be near that. They did a study where they found that the more these companies have been getting rid of unions the more peoples salaries have declined. They have us working Sundays all the time but they have to pay us double time, I work C shift so I work every Saturday, they have to pay us time and a quarter, without the union we would not be getting non of those things.

Yeah those taxes in the south are way cheaper than up north.

This has been the best job I ever had because I never worked in a union workplace before.

Toyota like any company will move to the state that allows the most fuckery. That is why my family moved to Dallas. They moved the corporate headquarters here cause Texas gave them incentives.

Not they are having issues cause the workforce here isn't as qualified and are having difficulty picking things up (dumb as rocks) but I guess they figure they are saving cash cause they pay lower wages.
