The word "Negro" in and of itself isn't racist and Reid's comments were impolitic but they weren't racist. Nothing "tomish" about being honest and not falling for the trap set by people who either are racist or support people that are racist.

Why did you bump this? It's kind of worn at this point. But thank you for giving me the opportunity to comment on it.

Thank you for deciding for all black people what is and is not racist.

Has nothing to do with deciding for all Black people but you're welcome.

Context and intent are important and Reid's comments, in context and with his intent in mind, weren't racist. Someone else can feel differently but if just using the word makes him racist, I say they're wrong.

It already did

This just proves the un-sustainability of Keynesianism and Central Banking

The whole quote ya dig!

Keynesianism has bailed the US out from the no regulation, free market crash of the 1920s. It also has sustained the creation of the greatest increase of middle class citizens the world has ever known. What has libertarianism, Ayn Rand worship created? If the US wants fiscal responsibility, the military budget should be cut 60%. Let the southern leeches know what it truly feels like without the bad old government military bases.

The word "Negro" in and of itself isn't racist...

This is true. The term "Black" was not used as a respectful term universally until 1968. The Black Panthers made it an issue, James Brown made it popular. In fact if you can find actual Malcolm X videos, he described us and himself has Negro, Field Negro and House Negro. My light skinned Grandmother, during the 1960s refused to refer to herself as 'Black'. She was content with being called 'colored'. She was from the pre depression generation. Prior to the 1920s Black folk describe themselves as Africans even though at that time there were very few Black people in the US that did not have at least 150 years of family lineage in the United States. It’s much ado about nothing.

If I hadn't, perhaps, we would not have had the opportunity to read the insightful comment (yours and the others) that followed.
