TIPPING POINT REACHED: STREAMING NOW HIGHER THAN CABLE

What can this do? First time seeing this jawn

Not exactly… cable is all or nothing. Streaming is a la carte. I don’t have to get all the services, and I can cance/pause at will.

that being said, I’m going all in on Plex. I acquire what I want and it’s all in one place. I pay/have access to the major services but it’s always a hassle to find something. im getting some 20TB drives this holiday season and going ham. I used 4TB of data last month alone…. So many 4K rips

my isp is offering 10Gbps for $50. :itsawrap:

That’s will I’m still at 500 Mbps with Spectrum. I almost upgraded to their Gig package after reading your post and realized that I’m totally fine where I’m at. Spectrum sun getting no additional money from me.

I mean DirecTV was trying to hit me for $200+ per month. My streaming apps right now are less than half that. Internet cost isn't a factorr bc I would have it regardless of streaming or cable (FIOS 300/300 $40/mo).
That sounds more in line for what I am hearing about cable costs. Cable has gone up to cover streaming losses. If people really paying 80 dollars for cable and getting access to premium stuff then I gotta let some family members know.

Granted I expect streaming costs to keep going up because they are all taking losses. All these jokers have succeeded in doing is fucking Netflix over while not really making big money for themselves.

My HBO Max annual subscription just lapsed. I saw I bought it last year for $118, this was when you could get $27 cash back if you bought the annual subscription. Now they want $169.. LOL

I didn't even realize when I bought NFL Sunday Ticket with YouTube, that I would get four months of Max for free. So that should carry me to the holiday season when I get to choose the best deals because I know they're coming.

Streaming TV costs are now higher than cable packages, says a new analysis. It follows warnings that a “crash” was on the way – a day that has now arrived.

The report says that after price rises by Apple TV+, HBO Max, Disney, Hulu, and others, the total cost of a basket of popular streaming TV services has now hit $87 per month …

The streaming crash has now happened

As little as a year ago, a popular set of streaming services added up to a total cost of $73 per month – compared to $83 for an equivalent cable package. But the latest round of streaming price increases has pushed that cost to $87, says a Financial Times analysis, making it more expensive than cable.

Well unless u have a family plan... where some pay for other services n others pay for other ones as well... it works out for us...but I get it..

Why do you use both? I've been messing around with Real Debrid and every link I want is available and in high Def.

Shit is a game changer.

im greedy lol I want more links. nah but sometimes with some apps like cyberflix real debrid would mess up, with 2 services im always good. And its cheap as fuck

I called that shit years ago.
$15 for Netflix, $19 for Disney, $18 for Hulu, $25 for Platstation/Xbox subscription, etc.

Before you look up you're paying $100 or more on entertainment. Or you could remember where you're at and ....

ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery to form joint venture sports streaming service

Three of the biggest sports TV companies in the U.S. are creating a joint streaming venture with all of their linear sports TV content, the firms announced Tuesday.

Why it matters: The new service is intended to reach sports fans ditching pricey cable bundles.
  • It's expected to launch later this year and be available through a new app, built by a new team that will be separate from the management leaders at the three companies.
  • Each company will each own one-third of the new venture, and they'll need to select a management team, branding and pricing.
Details: The new, standalone subscription streaming service will house an unprecedented amount of live sports content from sports networks across all three companies.
  • It will primarily monetize through consumer subscription fees. Each network will continue to sell ads against its content on its own networks.
  • Each of the three companies involved will have equal board representation for the joint venture. They will each license their sports content to the joint venture on a non-exclusive basis.
It will include games from the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, the major college sports divisions and more.
  • It will also include live sports content from ESPN+, the companies said in a statement.
The service will include content from all of the linear TV networks housed by the three companies, which include ESPN, ABC, TNT and Fox, among others.

Between the lines: The joint venture has been agreed to on principal terms by all three firms, which have all independently evaluated the opportunity for any regulatory concerns.

  • The formation of the service is subject to negotiations among the parties and distributors, with whom the three companies are in early discussions about rights.
The big picture: Live sporting events are the only type of content left that's holding the cable bundle together.
  • Even so, millions of people are dropping their cable and satellite subscriptions at a record pace as more live sporting events move to streaming.
What to watch: ESPN is planning to launch its own, separate direct-to-consumer service in 2025, CEO Bob Iger confirmed late last year.
  • The network is still in talks with major sports leagues and streamers about a possible strategic partnership.
Editor's note: This story is developing and will be updated.

real debrid is the bomb
and i finally took the big plunge, and setup my own PLEX server.
about to cop an 18-20tb ext hard drive for backup, offline storage.
It's the popcorn hour up in here
No streaming for me

What did I say?
Didn't I call it?
Watch some of these streaming companies consolidate or go out of business.

8 services WITH ADS, might as well get back to cable....

The average ad break is 45 seconds and rising
The length and sheer amount of ads is getting way outta hand. I almost caved last year and paid money for youtube.

Instead I got audible, got back into audiobooks, and stopped using YouTube on my phone. No ads on YouTube on a computer.
