This should happen to every motorcycle rider that does this...... waaaait foooor iiiiit

Bruh, I'm trying to figure out why the fuck you would open your door like that in the middle of the road.

Exactly, these dudes talking about its the bikes fault. At no point should anyone fully open their door on the highway. Ever. Worst when you live in a country where this is what bike riders do. In France or brazil for example, you better not stick your hand out the window, its gonna hit a bike rider.

It's the law in some counties (and in California) that they have to split lanes in traffic or they will be ticketed. Less idling reduces emissions. It's easy to criticize from the safety of your car. Some bikers are assholes and some drivers are too.

California Legal. California recommends only splitting lanes when traffic is slow and you keep your speed within 10 mph of surrounding traffic. You can still be pulled over for dangerous riding at a police officer’s discretion.

So...still gray area.. cause it at the officer discretion..

As a motorcycle rider, that's fucked up. I don't think dude was being malicious with it though, because he got out and checked on them.

I don't have a clue why anyone would want to see someone else get hurt, just because they're riding through traffic (splitting lanes... if it's legal in that state). And if it isn't legal, why should you care? How does it affect you?

I ride in California, and yes it is legal here.

Most of us with Harleys have loud pipes so drivers will know when we are near. Thunder Headers, Bassani and other manufactures make pipes so they can be heard. People drive with their radios up loud etc... so to me loud pipes are a must.

Several years ago, some cities tried to outlaw the Thunder Headers brand specifically (Orange County CA and other cities).

Some people are just mean and petty. Recognize them as who they are.

It's not legal in NJ & NY...... so fuck anyone that does it.... and fuck @BrownTurd .... he's mad cause he can't split lanes with his mule cart
sidebar: I've seen way too many of those fucktards do it on 2,3,4 lane city streets in NYC.... and dudes that do it drive waaaay faster than that.... let's say that you're in bumper-to-bumper traffic on 5th Ave, no cars around you moving, been driving around the block looking for a parking space, the store you wanna go to is right nearby, you tell your passenger to get out and go in....BAMM

Because bikes are going faster than the flow of traffic.

It causes all kinds of hazards!

People merging into another lane might not know to look for a bike, ESPECIALLY one that is going so much faster than traffic.

People walking through traffic are not expecting it either. They might get hit.

It's just nonsense. You are a powered vehicle. Just drive with the flow of damn traffic!

Why is that so hard?!

Only ones high-fiving this shit and trying to justify it are riders where it's legal... and obviously do it on the regular.... so they see nothing wrong with it..... they will never understand the concept of it being illegal.... and assholes losing their minds when they do it.... if you're in bumper-to-bumper traffic with no one moving.... you're not expecting an idiot on a motorcycle to split lanes

What's interesting about a lot of these videos is bikes hitting other bikes speeding while lane splitting. :smh:

You are just asking for trouble.

why? Most countries in the world this is a perfectly accepted thing, this video is clearly not America. Its why you got the bike/scooter. So why wish Riders harm and car damage? The driver is wrong here.

It’s legal in many states too and I don’t have a problem with it.

Edit: I was wrong, apparently it's not legal in "Many" states.

And I guess if you're not used to seeing it you will sound like "I hate those motorcycle riding whipersnappers"!

Most Harleys have "Air Cooled" engines. If they sit still in traffic, the engines can over heat. Motorcycles that you see in parades and things of that nature, where the bikes are sitting for long periods of time, have special fans on them called "Parade Fans." These can keep the bike from over heating. Airflow is important for motorcycles .

Also, I stated earlier, a lot of Harley owners have loud pipes, because we already know that people in cars etc... are not looking for us. When I pull up, I hit the throttle so you can hear me coming.

Just driving is a hazard. If people aren't responsible enough to look around when they hear the pipe, then they probably are distracted with other shit, like eating, putting on make-up, or even texting.

Just because a person doesn't ride doesn't mean that they should just be rolling down the freaking road care free. When you get your license, you know that there are trucks on the road with you, motorcycles on the road with you, and even bikes/scooters on the road with you. If it's legal in that state, then that means your ass should know that someone on a motorcycle may be on the road too.

It's nothing to hear a bike coming and you stay where you're at. People wont say it, but they develop a sense of rode rage when they see bikes going through traffic yet they are stuck in it.

When I'm in Arizona, I don't do it because it's illegal there.

But, when I'm in Cali, I'm expecting MoFos to know the law just like I do. We took the same freaking tests. If the law told you that motorcycles "can" split lanes, then I'm expecting your ass to know that. Do I trust that you know it? Hell no, thus the pipes. Some people are just idiots and only consider themselves when it comes to anything.

I'm the idiot because I know the law, and I'm also abiding by it. I'm also the idiot because you're not expecting me to do something that I have full right to do. Right?

I went to other states and saw bike's sitting in traffic and said to myself, "Why are those dumbasses sitting in traffic"?

It wasn't until a few minutes ago that I found out that it was illegal! :roflmao:

There's many more of these "Tardos" on the road but I'm guess you two don't share that same energy?

We're talking about motorcycle riders..... and never have I ever.....EVER..... seen one splitting lanes and not being a complete ass with it...... this is the NJ/NY tri state area..... anywhere it's legal, mofos grew up with it being legal and accept it..... it ain't legal here.... so it's accepted about as much as someone crossing a oneway street..... and getting hit by someone going the wrong way

I agree, that drivers should always be on the look out and drive defensively.

That is just not going to happen A LOT of the times.

With cell phones and screens in cars the size of a damn home TV, and all the other distractions that can happen while driving, people just are not going to notice bikers splitting lanes all the time.

I agree that you guys are taking a chance w/ people that are pissed that your are cutting through traffic.

I love bikes and give you all a wide berth when I see you on the road. Just think lane splitting is a bit much.

My point of view is from the post I made above this which explains it period..... and it isn't legal where I'm at.... is it?

Yeah, it's illegal in a lot of places.

I don't do it much here, but I don't ride a lot like I used to. But, I've always made assumptions that the person in the car doesn't see me. So I hit the pipes, then make sure their heads turn around, only then do I proceed.

I understand where your coming from, Brother. I have no issues with you. Hell most tests tell you to drive defensively.

Shit, when I'm in my car, I see cats on bikes doing dumb stuff all of the time. But for those who wish harm on a rider just for splitting lanes, that's a bit much.

I'm well aware that we're talking about motorcycle riders. Are you aware that an asshole driver not paying attention is an asshole driver that's not paying attention no Matt what they're driving?

He posted a vid of motorcycle drivers not paying attention and driving reckless and I posted cars. I guarantee there's more car accident videos than motorcycle vids but that's not the point.

If all you see is asshole motorcycle riders then I understand your anger.

Do you see, I "Understand" where you're coming from.

You don't understand how people where it's legal to lane split don't share your same feeling or feelings of anger.

In the end I agree with you, many motorcycle rider can and do drive like assholes. Not all but lots.

Just like car drivers

You ride so you're a defensive rider\driver.

Most dickhead drivers aren't defensive drivers and only look directly forward when driving.
