This is what Dikembe Mutombo has been up to...shitting on Jordan (?)

I have been to Zaire before and seen buildings still bearing bullet holes from the civil war fought there in 60s. What Dike did was an act of ultra altruism. Even though it will be difficulty to keep all that foreign equipment running, keep the staff paid, and medical supplies stocked, this is still better than what is there now.

I should also commend the choice of the accompanying music. Shiko Mawatu, the respected composer/ arranger/ guitarist plays the style of the grandmaster Luambo Franco very well indeed...

it pisses me off when it is said not many others would do this or do that. Just because the others are not having what they do blasted all over the news doesnt mean they are not doing it.

I agree even go to say "REALEST" (pun intended) Player in the NBA

Hakeem Olajuwon does a lot too

Do you really believe that people are doing as much or more and it is going unnoticed?

:smh:You act like he is on Sportcenter more than T.O. and Artest for this:smh:

Very inspiring.

While at the same time, very enraging.

You mean honkeys have been exploiting the Congo for all these years and couldn't build a damn hospital??!!?!?!?

Bro you cant build a $25million 500 bed hospital without people knowing

Come on man thats $25 million and he had a choice of doing nothing

I mean this dude is getting big ups from crème dela crème of the philanthropist world for what he did

I am involved with something similar but ours is in the range of about $15 million and we've not yet even finished the first stage...its a school and hospital

Dikembe inspires all of us

big ups to the brother, hes a good dude but when he talks im like:roflmao3:

we need more brothers like him.

fuck jordan

He is a role model for all athletes

^^^^

And in this rapid age of commercialism athletes are posterized and marketed to the youth and everyone in between and very rarely do aspects such as those Mutombo has exhibited is considered note worthy.:smh:

"Dunk on dem" I can't be the only that remembers those commercials.

But on the real though, Mutombo has always been that been one of the dude that was never let the money get to him. He's the living definition of "never forgetting where you came from."

mutumbo has always been a rare individual. his heart is bigger than most. he has always served humanity, and is a great example of someone who does from the heart rather than someone who does something to gain praise by the media. i've always been a big fan of his.... he's a good example of a good man.

word!!!!

Mutumbo could run for president in that country and win in a landslide

Not that easily; that is a country that is a the throes of an externally imposed war in which the eastern and western halves of the country deeply mistrust each other. He would do well in the West where was born, but there would be resistance in the eest. Having said that, the country could hardly do better with his leadership. The quality of rulers that country has had leaves a lot to be desired...

He's one of the classiest players ever. If anyone deserved a championship, it was him. I wish he could just sign with a contender next year (Lakers) and get a ring.

 I remember that as well. Dikembe is definitely one of the greatest humanitarians we'll ever see.

I have heard him talk on Jim Rome and other shows about what he is doing. And even though you sometimes have a hard time understanding him, you can see his heart and how much he cares. He is truly one of the greatest selfless humanitarians in the world. Many do it for tax write-offs, image, he does it because he knows it should be done.
