LEESBURG, Ga. (WRBL) — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect after a preliminary investigation into a Sunday evening shooting incident that left one person injured, officials say.
On June 7, 2026, deputies were dispatched to the 100 and 200 blocks of Autumn Leaf Drive in Leesburg, Georgia, after receiving reports of a shooting in progress.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered a large gathering in the area and located an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. They were later transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Basically dude saw the gathering of black people and is seen hanging out of the passenger window of a vehicle. Starts screaming the N word. They flee.
A short time later he comes back, wearing a kevlar vest and armed with an AR-15 type weapon. The family sees him coming and luckily a 20 yr Marine vet is among them. The vet shoots and wounds Kinzer.
Kinzer is taken to a hospital then arrested.
THEN RELEASEDON $5,000 Bond only charged with ASSAULT.......

Evidence on the scene suggested multiple firearms were discharged during the shooting.
Preliminary investigation, witness testimony and security camera footage pointed to Jeffrey Tyler Kinzer as the alleged person responsible for the shooting, deputies say.
Witnesses say Kinzer was involved in a verbal confrontation with individuals at the gathering. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Kinzer reportedly left and returned on foot carrying an AR-style rifle, wearing body armor and fired into the gathering.
During the investigation, Kinzer acknowledged to deputies that he had been involved in the shooting. Investigators later obtained and executed a search warrant at Kinzer’s residence and recovered an AR-style rifle and body armor believed to be associated with the shooting.
Following his release from the hospital, Kinzer was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and was transported to the Lee County Jail.
Investigators believe additional witnesses, victims, and potentially other individuals involved in this incident have not yet been identified or interviewed. Anyone involved in this incident in any capacity and has not already provided a statement to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is asked to contact investigators at 229-759-6012.
