That type of shit could go either way. I will say this: Both Kobe and LeBron are better than Scottie Pippen ever was, and that's coming from a Scottie Pippen fan

I think the advantage would be that MJ and Scottie knew each other's games so well, that their chemistry would be the deciding factor.

Re: There is no way in hell that kobe and Lebron would beat MJ and Pippen in a 2 on

MJ & SP all day
Defensively kobe & lebron don't measure up & which one of them would have the suicide mission of tryin to stop jordan?
I'm sure pippen could shut down whoever he was gaurding.

Kobe and LeBron

I would pay to see that matchup though...

Re: There is no way in hell that kobe and Lebron would beat MJ and Pippen in a 2 on

2 on 2 basketball is corny anyway. Only slightly better than 1 on 1

Lebrons and Kobe teams would win 2 games at most. But i say they win 1 Game each.

Wow! Talk about a hypothetical question!

A little older (I guess) and those teams sort of merge into each other, if I understand correctly, you want Jordan, Pippen and Horace Grant's teams against Lebron and the Cavs and Jordan, Pippen, Ron Harper and Dennis Rodman's squads against Kobe and the Lakers

I'll take the latter matchup first. Taking into account that it would be Phil Jackson coaching against Phil Jackson (neither Kobe nor Jordan won ANY titles without PJ as their coach), I would have to take those Bulls. They may not have the physical advantage, but they CERTAINLY have the edge in basketball acrutraments. Doubt very seriously if the collective basketball IQs of Kobe, Odom and Bynum would even be equal to one of the Bulls. And they were no slouches in the physical talent department anyway.

I would take Jackson's Bulls over Jackson's Lakers in 4. Yes, a sweep. Not even one game for these Lakers, those Chicago teams went for the jugular. They would not take one game off.

On the first matchup....I take Jackson's Bulls over Mike Brown's Cavs. Once again, basketball intellect wins oncer physical prowess. Even though there was less intellect on that Chicago team then there was on the previous one mentioned. Cliff Levingston against Pao Gasol would be an interesting matchup

Lebron

i hate the idea of 2 on 2 (hypothetical or real world).

but just to give the fantasy 5 on 5 some help:

1993 chicago bulls:

scottie pippen
michael jordan
horace grant
b.j. armstrong
bill cartwright
scott williams
john paxson
stacey king
trent tucker
will perdue
rodney mccray
darrell walker

vs.

2009 cleveland cavaliers

lebron james
mo williams
anderson varejao
delonte west
daniel gibson
zydrunas ilgauskas
wally szczerbiak
ben wallace
sasha pavlovic
j.j. hickson
joe smith
darnell jackson

i'd go with the bulls for 2 reasons. 1st, the cleveland backcourt is sorely outmatched. 2nd, foul trouble would instantly sink cleveland's ship.

but this is all just fantasy anyway. maybe one of the NBA LIVE kids can plug these 2 teams into a fantasy series and tell us how it turns out.

Re: Lebron

1998 chicago bulls

michael jordan
scottie pippen
dennis rodman
toni kukoc
ron harper
luc longley
steve kerr
scott burrell
bill wennington
dickey simpkins
randy brown
jud buechler

vs.

2009 fakers

pau gasol
tobe
derek fisher
lamar odom
trevor ariza
andrew bynum
sasha vujacic
jordan farmar
luke walton
josh powell
didier mbenga
shannon brown

the 2009 fakers have exactly ONE ace-in-the-hole that separates them from the rest of the field: length. pau gasol, andrew bynum and to a lesser degree lamar odom.

the 1998 chicago bulls had both the size, length, and strength to neutralize that sole positive. add in the factors of superior skill sets at 4 of the 5 positions (the only advantage being pau gasol over either luc longley or toni kukoc), and more experienced players (the core of those bulls teams didn't change during the 3peat) and that's a wrap in favor of the bulls.

Re: There is no way in hell that kobe and Lebron would beat MJ and Pippen in a 2 on

CATS SERIOUSLY UNDERESTIMATE PIPPEN DEFENSE IN HIS PRIME HE WAS BETTER DEFENDER THAN JORDAN

NO ONE IN THE LEAGUE WANTED TO BE GUARDED BY PIPPEN.he shut them all down drexler, grant hill, penny, the list goes on. it was well known all around the league PIPPEN was a beast on D in his prime.

Jordan and Pippen would kill Lebron and Kobe. ALL DAY!!

Re: Lebron

if by D you mean debbie allen, you're right.

randy brown was back dooring norm nixon while he was still in college.

Fuck Jerry, that fat bastard...he's part of the reason they started rebuilding when they did...lightning doesn't strike twice, at least not the way the championship squad came together...broke them up while they were still winning...:smh:

With the 2009 Lakers team's season yet to be determined, I'd say this would be a far more interesting match up then you sell it to be.

I'd give the 2009 Lakers (at full stength) the edge over the 1998 Bulls (full strength, minus the flew game) based off of this formula:

The 2008 Lakers (basically the same team this year minus Rad, add Bynum) beat The San Antonio Spurs 4-1 in the WCF without Andrew Bynum.

And that same Spurs team core (2008) is a spitting image of that Utah Jazz team core (1998), only with far more superiority on the defensive end, considering a healthy Ginobili.

2008 Spurs > 1998 Jazz.

So now, we have a good shot blocker that can also score in Andrew Bynum, at full strength. The Dream (not to compare yet) was also a force in the paint which was more of a dreamlike, anticipated matchup (npi), based off the previous year(s) success. But the Rockets lost to Utah in the 1998 WCF. And Stockton was showing out in that series. Fair-and-square.

You also noted experience, and those big three from San Antonio had it in 2008, but got handled by an inferior Lakers squad compared to this years team.

Craig Hodges >>>>[/QUOTE]

 nigga, Craig Hodges would bust yo ass. The year he retired he came to my high school and schooled our varsity boys basketball team.( we were ranked 19 in the state of Illinois, which wasn't shabby considering farraget with ronnie fields and kevin garrnett was ranked 1 & kenwood with Nazar Mohammed was #15) The nigga was crossing people like Isaiah Thomas and shootng from half court.
