Thelma Evans was born on June 18, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois as the middle child and only daughter,of Florida Evans and James Evans Sr. She grew up on the South-side of Chicago in a poverty section in a cold water flat with her parents and older brother. When her mother was pregnant with her younger brother Michael, the family moved to the North-side of Chicago in The Housing Projects. As Thelma became a teenage she became interested in acting, dancing and in dating men. Thelma had various boyfriends and fiancees, Thelma is not afraid to stand up to her older brother JJ and any other person who tries to take advantage of her. She's a "daddy's girl," and her father can be over-protective from time to time. But that doesn't stop Thelma from being obsessed with boys (and accepting a few marriage proposals!). Like the rest of her family, she also dreams of moving out of her housing project. But until the day that dream is realized, Thelma does her best to be as much help as she can to her mother and around the house. Her constant fighting with J.J. is too much for her parents to deal with at times, but their love for each other is deep. With her family behind her, Thelma is reassured that she will survive her teenage suffering.

Thelma married Keith Anderson in 1978, a college athlete who had a bright future. But at their wedding, Keith tripped over J.J. who was taking pictures, and hurt his knee. This event led to Keith developing a drinking problem and eventually getting a job as a taxicab driver. By 1979 Thelma and Keith were moving into a new apartment near Lake Michigan after Keith completely recovered from his knee injury had finally got his contract to play football for the Chicago Bears. She then allowed her mother to live along with her because of her pregnancy since she would need help taking care of the baby. At the end of the series Thelma & Keith were expecting.

Denise Reneé Kendall (née Huxtable; born June 22, 1968) is the second eldest daughter of Cliff and Clair The part of Denise is played by actress/singer Lisa Bonet. Denise is a free-spirited daughter of Cliff and Clair Huxtable. At the beginning of the series, she is sixteen years old, putting her year of birth in 1968. She loves fashion and music, but did not want to attend school to pursue either interest. A two-year stint at Hillman College leads her to Africa, where she meets and marries Navy Lt. Martin Kendall, who has a daughter, Olivia, from a previous relationship. Denise eventually decides to become a special education teacher and makes arrangements to attend Medgar Evers College to this effect, but that idea does not work out as Denise eventually leaves New York again when Martin is posted to Singapore on a long-term assignment. It is revealed in the finale that she is pregnant.

During the first two seasons, Denise was portrayed as a very popular high-schooler, with many friends, who seemingly had a different boyfriend every episode. Along with her constantly fluctuating love life, were her various hairstyles and choices of clothing, which were occasionally made fun of by Cliff. In later seasons, however, she exhibited a more flighty nature, often expressing ideas that left Cliff and Clair greatly puzzled.

In Season 3, Denise left home to attend Hillman College, a fictional, historically African-American college, of which her mother, father and grandfather were all alumni. The Cosby Show's producers created a spin-off series, entitled A Different World, which initially dealt with the life of Denise at college. Denise was written out of the series following its inaugural season (which aired concurrently with Season 4 of The Cosby Show), after actress Lisa Bonet became pregnant. Shortly after the start of Season 5, Denise traveled to Africa for a year, where she fell in love with and married Martin Kendall. In the Season 6 premiere, she returned home, shocking her parents with the news of her surprise marriage to a divorced single father. However, Cliff and Clair accepted the couple when they met Olivia, who immediately won their hearts and was welcomed into the family. Denise was featured regularly on The Cosby Show during Seasons 1-3 and 6-7, and on a recurring basis during Seasons 4 and 5.

Easy, Thelma, Thelma, Thelma, Thelma!

Real talk tho who could actually give Thelma some serious competition and a run for the money as far as celeb or tv chicks anyway? I can't really think of anybody off hand that comes to mind.

I was gonna do a Denise Huxtable vs Hillary Banks contest awhile back. I just never found the time to dig up photos and kinda forgot about it. That would probably be a little bit more fare of a fight for Bonet and more in her league or weight class or whatever.

Bonet is still a sex kitten but Thelma is just way out of her league.

i had a crush on lisa bonet but
but there are no female tv stars past or present
that can fuck with "Thelma Evans" Bernadette Stanis,
when it comes towards beauty and body combination.

Thelma Evans is the prototype for fine women

:smh: man why you did that to denise?

I think all of us middle aged cats had a crush on Denise back in the day, but time has not treated her well. Unlike Denise, Thelma has aged like fine wine.

Even if they were to square up against each other in their prime's, Thelma would still crush Denise. Never was, never would have been, still ain't no contest.

Not sure if I've ever seen such a blow out in a poll on here before...

Neverrrrr liked Denise or, in real life, Lisa....she looked like a dirty hippie chick :puke:

I'll go one further...NONE of those chicks in Cosby Show or Different World were sexy, IMO...not Whitley, Freddie, Denise's older sister, not Raven, Vanessa..only one ever moved me was grown up Rudy.

Unless you color struck ain't no one gonna choose the small titty, no figure, flat ass Hustable chic

Note: This is not about who looks the best or who you fucking first. Its about which character you liked best, who was the better actress, etc.

This is somewhat off the topic, but my kids have shown a love for watching Cosby Show. One weekend we were watching epidodes and it dawned on me that Denise and Saundra were horribly mismatched to have Clair and Heathckiff as their parents. Two browndark skinned parents with white as hell looking daughters. It makes me wonder why they were chosen. It wasnt as if they were thesr super great actresses! It makes me think that Mr. Cosby is a bit color struck.

YES YOU ARE CORRECT.... Met Mr Cosby in Atlanta, prior to his son's passing. Mr Cosby is indeed the dad you want to have growing up but he still has a few cobb webbs of the old past around him. I got the same sense of a color issue as well. I think it was bc of the era he grew up in and everybody got their own eccentricities. I just wrote it off bc He and His son was cool as shit when talking to the young students around the AUC. His son didnt seem to have his ass on hs shoulders even though he came from privilege and could easily shine alot more if he wanted. It takes a good dad to raise a son like that, and on that I say Mr Cosby did a good damn job. I was both pissed and very angry when he lost his son. I think everybody in the AUC felt it.
But yeah, he got some old "brown paper bag" ways hanging around.....and Im sure folks from that era do to.

My uncle is the same way. I wanted to put my foot in his ass for telling my lady at the time...she was cute for a dark skinned girl.
He a good dude at heart but aint changing at all.

Thelma had me when I saw that camel toe!:D:D:D

post camel toe pix or you ain't seen shit. :hmm:

now, to answer the OP's question:

thelma was a more diverse actress... had more emotional range on TV when TV was still very basic.

denise was always very monotone like she was smoking weed or something... always had the same expression/look on her face.

as for who's better looking and finer? :hmm: nicca please.

but i do give denise a lil bit of 'shock' value when the cosby show first came on. i was like... damn, she kinda cute. and lots of broads were jealous of her bc high yella broads were all over tv at the time. i was wondering if she's from the boot.

Bingo!

Those who weren't around in the 70s and earlier may not be able to relate. Light skin men and women were all the rage. People today call the 70s and early 80s the El Debarge years.

It gets deep and complex w/o diving headfirst into that subject of light vs dark. Before the late 80s when Spike Lee and Wesley Snipes and also Big Daddy Kane in hip hop came out the light/dark stuff was pretty rampant.

There were of course some darker and brown skinned exceptions but lighter skin was usually the premium choice. My older brother was always attracted to light skinned long haired chicks but from that era that was kinda the norm.

Just a quick example:

Thelma is probably the baddest black chic to ever star on a TV show, to this day.

What ^ said. I don't know how this is even a question unless you are trolling or you have a serious thing for light skin tones. Even then, Thelma is the fucking prototype.

I think that was more because he wanted to grab every kid he could and have someone that looked like them rep'ed on the screen..every shade in the rainbow sort of thing. The same way he wanted to show a different type of black family and parent on screen. Lawyer/Doctor..not in the ghetto etc. He always had brown woman in his real life and picked one of the most beautiful woman(that just so happened to be brown toned) ever as his onscreen wife..so I doubt he was color struck.
