Imagine this tag team!

I need to be their manager...

It was very good. Although Hangman's feuds in his title reign haven't been great all his matches have been bangers. From a match quality perspective he's had the best reign of any AEW Champion thus far.

Does anyone want Punk or thinks he'll win the AEW title? Hangman has had some solid matches but he looks like a transitional champion. I would personally put the title on MJF next and then Punk.

I actually think Punk beats Hangman then MJF takes it off of Punk. If Hangman beats Punk then you're right the reverse will happen where MJF beats Hangman then Punk takes it off of MJF. One thing is for certain either Punk or MJF will be the next champion. After MJF and Punk have had their reigns then you can start looking to people like Miro, Danielson, and Keith Lee.

Will be interesting if they tap MJF for their title, especially with the rumored (contract) issues MJF is having with AEW....

I know wwe doesn't believe tag team wrestling has any money in it and as a result they haven't valued it in over 20 years. However they need to change that approach having strong teams and titles in the division makes for a better show.

I’m calling it a work. Just cannot see WWE calling this much attention to two wrestlers who walked out. It’s too embarrassing (if real). WWE would want to sweep it under the rug.

Them making so much of a point by continuing to mention it on their show just sounds like they are working the audience.

lol
how you have a tag team tournament when there are no women's tag team across the 3 brands
if we playing spades I am calling 3 books & pump

Doudrop & Nicki
Natalya & Shana
Carmela & Vega (even though they broke...i guess we can ignore that since the WWE did)
and KCs in NXT

tag team division can barely make board (of course board is 5 books) how you gonna have a tournament unless you go straitght to the Final (only) Four

I assumed they would take this opportunity to just get rid of the titles, since they obviously didn't care anyway. Gave them an out but NOOOO, you gotta put it on two other people that it will be obvious you don't give a shit about

i guarnatee that who ever wins the belts will have no feuds
will barely defend the titles on tv or ppv
and eventually drop them at Summerslam in multi-team tag match

book it

I don't think it's a work because how they're handling the Sasha/Naomi walkout almost mirrors how they handled it when Stone Cold legit walked out in 2002.

The issue is Sasha didn't want her and Naomi, who are champions, to be used as fodder for the singles champions. They wanted a program with Nikki and Doudrop.

Austin's issue was, with him being the biggest draw in the company, he didn't want to be the first one used to put over rookie Brock Lesnar, and also lose to Scott Hall who had just returned with the NWO.

When Austin didn't show up, Vince had JR (Austin's friend) bury him on commentary, Vince cut a promo to control the narrative, then had the Rock return early to bury him to be petty.

Now they're having Corey Graves and Michael Cole (who I heard is real cool with Sasha and Naomi) burying them on commentary, they're releasing statements to the media to control the narrative, and now in the name of pettiness, instead of using the out to get rid of the tag championships they don't have the teams nor the plans for, they're gonna throw together a tag tourney because they suddenly have an interest putting them on somebody else.

Two situations almost exactly 20 years apart and the MF is handling the shit the exact same way.
