Do yall think it's better to have the talent come up with the stories or writers?
It depends on how good the talent is at coming up with storylines.
Most wrestlers aren't good at coming up with storylines because that's not what they're paid to do.
There should at least be a collaborative process where the writers work with the talent to come up with storylines.
The best storylines and characters are the ones where the wrestlers are doing less acting and being more of themselves, just with the volume turned up.

Makes sense he would stay with WWE since he spent so many years in obscurity in TNA making a fraction of what he's making now

Yeah at this point AJ has nothing left to do. Major titles in every promotion besides AEW, but he has basically fought everyone in AEW. I don't think any other promotion can pay him what he would be looking for with the talent they currently have.

I could see AJ doing a year in NJPW or AEW before he retires. I think there is still a resentment towards Vince for not getting on board back when AJ was younger.

I find AJ, Owens, Zayn and others choosing to stay in WWE interesting, especially with how "well" they would be received if they went over to AEW.

I think AEW signing up a lot of earlier WWE castoffs ended up hurting them in their chances to land more prominent stars when they would have been available.

Especially when one sees how many of those ex WWE signings were treated and booked.

U can't worry about the longterm when you're trying to establish yourself right now, I get that with aew... Plus you don't want to get into a bidding war with the E.

I think the difference between the two is families. AJ, Zayn and Owens have "full" families. Outside of Bryan Danielson I think most of them are just married or in serious relationships. And Bryan is an outlier as he would go back to indies just for the match ups that he could get.

Sitting around in catering isn't so bad when you're paying for your daughters braces. That sense of pride you feel when you read Twitter and fans telling you that you should be doing this or that gets squashed REAL QUICK when kids are involved and the money WWE is willing to pay, plus your merch money.

WWE/NXT spent a lot of time and resources developing and helping a lot AEW signees

I am a mainstream casual fan and didn’t know Keith Lee, Swerve, Andreda, Allister Black,Adam Cole, Ruby Riot, Riley, Fish, Mercedes Martinez etc till they showed up at NXT and that doesn’t include Miro who always made chicken salad outta chicken shit

I hope that with the changes made in NXT call ups really have a chance to succeed

Bryan already made his money with WWE, plus his wife has money too. He has that freedom to be able to just go around and wrestle for the fun of it and not worry about a large payday. Like you said AJ, Zayn and Owen all have young families and this really is the first time most of them are making big money, so I can see why they stayed.

Sorry I liked him better as Killshot versus Swerve. The matches him and AR Fox put on were a masterclass!

Him vs Sammy/Private Party/Bryan Danielson/Kenny Omega/Darby Allin will be really good matches!

That's the beauty of it, he could always tap back into that gimmick if he wants to. Pentagon's bringing back his Lucha Underground gimmick tonight.
