I know I'm probably the only one here who likes Joshi wrestling. But KAIRI went back to Stardom once her WWE contract was up and was promptly jumped.

I've been a fan of Joshi wrestling since the early 90's. It's nowhere close to the level it was back then. Nowdays it comes off like cosplay. I do however like Mayu Iwatani and Utami Hayashishita. Those two are probably the best of the bunch right now.

I mean......she basically no sold both finishers then hit hers. It kinda doesn't look right. You know she's not gonna lose but sheesh. Do finishers mean anything anymore??
Welcome to modern day wrestling where you have a million false finishes and nobody sells anything, not even finishers.

If Cody ever goes back to AEW he's won't be accepted. He'll have to win the fan base back over.

He was getting go away heat before he left.
All he needed to do was turn heel and ride it out for awhile then organically come back as a Babyface. Omega, Danielson, Mox, Jericho, Punk have all been heels or babyfaces at some point in their career. I don't understand why Cody believes he's above turning heel. Dude really bought into his own hype.

This was the spot that Kenny was talking about in his wrestling observer interview that gave him vertigo. I remember watching this match. It was at the G1 tournament in 2017. Okada caught him flush with a dropkick then landed on the side of Kenny's head. At the time I didn't realize Kenny got vertigo from that spot. So from 2017 up until he lost the belt to Hangman at "Full Gear" this past November 2021 he's been wrestling with vertigo. Wow.

PS: Okada has the best dropkick in the business.

Ok...

I'm gonna ask it and you all correct if I'm waaaaaaay off base here but:

Is Japanese wrestling better than American wrestling :dunno:

There's no definitive answer to that question because both American and Japanese wrestling have their pros and cons. It really comes down to what you prefer. If you're a guy like me who loves workrate/match quality and more of a sports presentation then Japanese wrestling is King in that department. If you're a guy who likes character work, promos and storylines then American wrestling is the way to go. I personally love both American and Japanese wrestling. I also love Mexican wrestling (Lucha Libre).

Yeah Mexican Lucia libre wrestling is number 1 for me.

For me the answer is "No" and it's not even close.
The Japanese wrestling I've seen, even the "7-star classics" Meltzer only gives to Japanese matches, is a bunch of high spots with little selling, almost no storytelling, and bland characters.
It's a preference thing in the end, but definitely not for me

The previous answers are all correct, it does all boil down to what you like.

Personally I just like watching good wrestling matches that make sense . I don't care about storylines or moments or cool spots. I just want to see competitors put on a good match without a stupid finish.

:lol:Hell no! Even if the Rock came back I'm not watching WWE Raw.

Honestly, I don't think there's anybody, past or present, they could realistically bring in that would make me watch WWE consistently again.

Even if they got Stone Cold committed to a match at WM and had him on Raw for like the last 4 weeks before Mania, I feel like he's just gonna be a watered down version of his past self. Same with Rock.

And then Cody under his own creative direction (to whatever capacity) was just ok. I can't imagine he'll be any better under WWE creative. And then the better parts of his gimmick will be stripped away like the shooty-type promos and the brutal looking matches and spots. Then his unwillingness to go heel paired with WWE's inability to book strong faces to go against Brock and Roman, I just don't see it going well.

Only a Vince McMahon retirement could get me to tune in consistenly again just to see if the direction of creative will ever change.

Question here for everyone.

Who were y'all favorite wrestlers as a kid? Did anyone have an odd unusual wrestler they were fans of?

My faves were Hogan, Macho Man, Sting, Warrior.

My one odd fave was Barry Windham. That superplex and vaulting over for the pin was cool looking.

My faves were:
Jimmy superfly snuka
Ultimate Warrior
The Road warriors/Legion of doom
HBK
Rey Mysterio
The Steiners
Rob Van damme
The Blue Blazer - but funny enough I wasnt a fan of Owen Hart when he was himself
Razor Ramon

odd ones of that time would be: Arn Anderson, and Dean malecko..loved the technical prowess and how they would relentlessly focus on one single body part of their opponents

I don't get why people keep comparing WWE to AEW. One is a publicly traded corporation and the other is pretty much just a television production company with 2 shows. And I'm not shitting on AEW, I like their shows. It's like comparing the Walt Disney company to Gracie Films. Of course Disney is going to be bigger and more successful.

It's the mark fans on both sides of the argument that want to see the other company fail and go out of business.
What they fail to understand is that wrestling as a whole is better when there are more promotions around and more options for the fans.
I like AEW as a whole, just not as much as some people. I find flaws in the product just like there are flaws in WWE programming.
