WWE casual fan base don’t care about AEW or Cody

They care about AEW as much as AEW cares about WWE. If one of the founders of AEW (and an EVP) left to WWE, it would be too big for WWE fans to not care.

AEW fans didn’t fuck with Cody so they won’t follow him to WWE (especially since most of their fans are already anti WWE)

This isn't about the fans, it's about the visual of talent leaving the Indy promised land back to the big leagues. If Cody is the first, he definitely won't be the last.

Cody wasn’t treated like a main eventer in WWE and wouldn’t be if he returned.

Returning to WWE after exiling himself and making a name in the entertainment world will change things.

Exactly, especially with how petty Vince is. I'd be surprised if he even gave him a decent offer.

AEW doesn't lose anything if they lose Cody.

WWE doesn't gain anything if they acquire Cody.

It'll be a cool moment the first day, but then after a few weeks, the lure is gone. Because WWE does not acknowledge AEW on their programming, so it's not like he's gonna be cutting hella shoot promos and shit. Like he might get a line like: "at my last job!", or somebody will say "you should've stayed at that little pissant company in Jacksonville!"

And then once the people see that it ain't gone be a bunch of shoot promos and shit, they're gonna tune back out.

Real talk TK might got some Vince in him
He used Cody and Brandi to get AEW off the ground and now seems like he is ready to move on

He used ROH to help set up their 1st PPV and used some of their talent. Now AEW is the 2nd biggest wrestling company in America and ROH is on life support

Just like Vince Kahn seems to put a ceiling on his black performers (hopefully that changes over time and due to small sample size)

Sean Ross Sapp said it was a negotiation issue. Cody has been working without a contract for about a month. Sapp did a live stream when he broke the news and subs asked questions. Some takeaways from the few minutes I watched.
1. Sapp said its not a work.
2. He don't see Cody returning to WWE.
3. He and Brandy will likely continue to negotiate with AEW.

I caught part of it when he said that it couldn't be a work because Cody's people contacted WWE, and WWE wouldn't just willingly help them do a worked angle by confirming that they've had talks with Cody's people.

Plus, it being a worked angle doesn't really achieve anything in canon. And it also explains the weird booking of the Sammy TNT feud where Sammy lost it for like three weeks and then got it right back. And I imagine they gotta put in a filler for Brandi in the Paige Van Zant feud because they only have 3 weeks until Revolution.

But yeah, I agree with Sean, because all these other theories just don't make sense.

2. Cody wants to model him and Brandi like Miz/Maryse. He tested those waters at AEW with TNT. WWE having their own Network and deals with Peacock Streaming makes this a better business venture for the Rhodes family. ESPECIALLY now that he has leverage.
3. Jury is still out on Vince....you never know. He did eventually do right by many who left and came back though (Angle, Warrior, etc...). Hell, Lashley left for a while and came back and he's now a two-time champion. Why wouldn't Vince do right by him, especially since AEW never put their "top" belt on him....I could see WWE pushing Cody just to make him look better than he did in AEW, especially if he comes back as an arrogant (true) heel.

there is a big difference to the way Vince viewed ppl like Bret, Hogan, Angle, Warrior etc...they were top guys in Vince's eyes and he welcomed them back. Shit even Bobby had main event runs and was featured in Wrestlemania Main Event programs before he left.

Instead of getting the Miz/Maryse treatment, i think he'll get the Mike/Maria Kanellis treatment. As you mentioned he did his daddy wrong with the poka dots and ppl forget Virgil was named after Dusty. Vince is and always has been an asshole. I think eventually it makes sense for some guys to make the jump from AEW to WWE (like Wardlow) or to come back (DB or Jericho)

I was just about to post. Being he has issues with The Elite I'm not surprised. I also don't see him going to WWE knowing Damn well how their system works. Between acting, hosting shows and once said he has political aspirations he was bound to leave. Didn't expect his to leave so soon.

Nah, he's gone. It's been clear for a while that he never fit in with the rest of the EVPs and the fans shit on him and his wife constantly.

I think this is a good move for AEW and shows that TK has the balls to make tough decisions when necessary.

I understand how cats believe that Vince is gonna be petty, but remember, Cody left on good terms. He bet on himself and did what we wanted to do.

Vince has been known to respect wrestlers who have shown a backbone. There are numerous stories of him not respecting people who he sees as weak.

He's also been known to work with and actually put people who have competed with him in good positions, hell look at Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff.

I see Vince treating Cody totally different. Cody will be treated as a big deal, because Cody is a "prize" from the company Vince doesn't see as competition.
