Cody going back to WWE.
He's a generational wrestler and I think he milked AEW/TNT all he could and got tired or the indy style shit AEW was doing.
He will surprise folks showing up at WrestleMania.
He's going to be followed by Jericho and in a few years, MJF and others.
Nah, he's gone. It's been clear for a while that he never fit in with the rest of the EVPs and the fans shit on him and his wife constantly.I smell a work! Cody and Brandi aren't going anywhere.
Cody going back to WWE would be the dumbest thing ever.
The difference here is his deal already expired months ago while those guys got new deals while still under their deals. The only thing that makes sense to me is that this is a legit negotiation thing.
WWE wrestlers do it all the time, like they get on Twitter and tease going to AEW and then use that as leverage to get a better deal. Orton did it with his last deal, and KO just did it a few months ago with the Mount Everest thing.
I think Cody's doing the same thing and MJF will do the same when his contract is up.
The only difference is they just haven't reached an agreement yet. It's still possible they could all reach an agreement within the next few days or the next few weeks and then it's water under the bridge.
Until Cody actually signs with WWE, he's not there yet. It's been reported that he's been in contact with WWE, but he could very well turn down whatever offer WWE gives him, too, and go do some other shit.
But going to WWE should be his last resort, because they don't have shit to offer him but a check and a spot on the mid-card.
You really believe that don't you....Cody going back to WWE would be the dumbest thing ever.
You really believe that don't you....
Given the money (and visibility) he would earn, the leverage he has (now), the buzz his signing would create and how this would change the landscape of a stale wrestling promotion.....
Going back to WWE would be a VERY smart thing to do.
The difference here is his deal already expired months ago while those guys got new deals while still under their deals.
The time to use WWE as leverage for a better AEW deal has come and gone.
As an EVP you would think if TK really wanted him and Brandi around he would have extended their deals long before they ran out.
If you really want someone around, you don't let their deal expire. That tells me he's gone and not coming back anytime soon.
His dad ate humble pie after working for the competition (NWA) and went to the WWF back in the day.
I wouldn't be shocked if he did the same.
Sean Ross Sapp said it was a negotiation issue. Cody has been working without a contract for about a month. Sapp did a live stream when he broke the news and subs asked questions. Some takeaways from the few minutes I watched. The only thing that makes sense to me is that this is a legit negotiation thing.

They care about AEW as much as AEW cares about WWE. If one of the founders of AEW (and an EVP) left to WWE, it would be too big for WWE fans to not care.i disagree wholeheartedly
WWE casual fan base don’t care about AEW or Cody
This isn't about the fans, it's about the visual of talent leaving the Indy promised land back to the big leagues. If Cody is the first, he definitely won't be the last.AEW fans didn’t fuck with Cody so they won’t follow him to WWE (especially since most of their fans are already anti WWE)
Returning to WWE after exiling himself and making a name in the entertainment world will change things.Cody wasn’t treated like a main eventer in WWE and wouldn’t be if he returned.
Vince will definitely clown AEW, if the offer is extended he will take it and run with it. Remember, his father wore polka dots, and made it work.he and his wife are ppl without a country
If he came back to WWE Vince would clown the shit out of him on screen and take shots at AEW by shitting on him.

1. Sapp said its not a work.
2. He don't see Cody returning to WWE.
3. He and Brandy will likely continue to negotiate with AEW.
Sean Ross Sapp sounds like he's walking back his claims Cody to WWE isn't happening..
That wasnt the talking point from earlier though.....If he goes to WWE, I wouldn’t be surprised that once the novelty rubs off he could be chasing the 24/7 title, getting squashed by Omos or gets punked by Rhonda, Charlotte or Becky
That wasnt the talking point from earlier though.....
All of y'all were claiming he wasn't going back to WWE.
I said he was.
Let's wait and see but it looks like it's close to a done deal.
I can’t see Cody going back to the WWE
Dumbass got a motherfucking AEW tattoo on his neck. He took a lot of shots at the WWE. Of course Vince willing to forgive if it’s main event talent but Vince never viewed him as such. In Vince eyes Cody is American Christian with a lisp.
I’ve been a fan of Cody when he was in the E and criminally underused but he shouldn’t go back to the E.
he stuck in no man’s land
He product of the WWE system and not accepted by Indy fans
he better off trying to do his own version of what Matt Cardona is doing
i disagree wholeheartedly

not sure who ya'll you are referencing but
since you quoted me, I've been very constistent that he shouldnt go back to the WWE and would be fool to to so
1. Yes, I do believe he made himself into a desirable commodity. He has (a bigger) name recognition now compared to when he did when he was Stardust.Do you feel he is a desirable commodity and should go WWE? Is this good for Cody or the business? Do you think Vince will do right by him if goes back to WWE? I believe you made reference to Vince screwing his dad with the polka dots.
My mistake then, I was referencing others who were adamant that Cody to WWE would never happen.
1. Yes, I do believe he made himself into a desirable commodity. He has (a bigger) name recognition now compared to when he did when he was Stardust.
2. Cody wants to model him and Brandi like Miz/Maryse. He tested those waters at AEW with TNT. WWE having their own Network and deals with Peacock Streaming makes this a better business venture for the Rhodes family. ESPECIALLY now that he has leverage.
3. Jury is still out on Vince....you never know. He did eventually do right by many who left and came back though (Angle, Warrior, etc...). Hell, Lashely left for a while and came back and he's now a two-time champion. Why wouldn't Vince do right by him, especially since AEW never put their "top" belt on him....I could see WWE pushing Cody just to make him look better than he did in AEW, especially if he comes back as an arrogant (true) heel.
Vince has never seen a few guys as main event talent....until they were.Vince has never seen Cody as a main event talent. He helped create AEW and still wasnt a top guy their. IMO Vince sees Cody as a American version of Christain with a lisp. I cant see Vince doing right by him. I like Cody but think he'd make mistake going to the WWE
The fans want Cody as a main eventer?....now?....with Brandi in tow? The best move for Cody as a main eventer is in AEW as a heel. Plenty of shit on AEW doesn't make sense but setting up that thing with Brandi and Paige Van Zant a couple of weeks ago with negotiations at a standstill would be up there.Vince has never seen a few guys as main event talent....until they were.
Bret Hart, Daniel Bryan, Bray Wyatt, and others....
Vince has been known to give into what fans want...
And with Nick Khan having a greater influence (along with other rumors) this makes sense business wise.
It will come down to the money and with WWE having deep pockets, Cody very well may be convinced to just do it.
Also, take into account the many upcoming releases AEW is going to have.
It's only a matter of time before we see the pendulum swing the other way towards WWE signing up AEW talent.
Cody signing there will be the first domino to fall and others will follow.
I was just about to post. Being he has issues with The Elite I'm not surprised. I also don't see him going to WWE knowing Damn well how their system works. Between acting, hosting shows and once said he has political aspirations he was bound to leave. Didn't expect his to leave so soon.
Damn, I didn't see this coming!!...But I noticed that the fans wasn't feeling both of them no more and always get booed when they both come out...Also, I heard they had problems with management and with Tony Khan!!1...I wonder if they going back to WWE??...I believe that won't be good for both of them!!
I agree, and he doesn't bring anything to either promotion... And what's the heat with the elite? Are those evp titles just that titles?Nah, he's gone. It's been clear for a while that he never fit in with the rest of the EVPs and the fans shit on him and his wife constantly.
That would be fine if he was a heel, but he's too hardheaded to read the room and just go with it.
They even made up a fake position for Brandi just so she could have a job there, lol.
I think this is a good move for AEW and shows that TK has the balls to make tough decisions when necessary.
It seemed like for a while he wasn't going to let anyone go from the company and this Cody situation has been the elephant in the room for long enough. Truth be told, they won't be missed.
Not sure if Cody and Brandi will end up in WWE though. If anything, I see them pursuing Hollywood full-time now.
The minute Cody shows up on WWE television, WWE fans will go wild. Not saying he’ll get a CM Punk returns to wrestling pop, but WWE fans will go wild, because they know what it means (WWE product improving.)The fans want Cody as a main eventer?....now?....with Brandi in tow? The best move for Cody as a main eventer is in AEW as a heel. Plenty of shit on AEW doesn't make sense but setting up that thing with Brandi and Paige Van Zant a couple of weeks ago with negotiations at a standstill would be up there.
WWE has deep pockets and weren't willing to use them for Braun Stroman or Bray Wyatt or countless other people who have been fired.
I'll believe it when I see it. For me this is ultimately a work but if it involves Cody I guess it's fitting that it'd be overly complicated.
If he goes to WWE, I wouldn’t be surprised that once the novelty rubs off he could be chasing the 24/7 title, getting squashed by Omos or gets punked by Rhonda, Charlotte or Becky
Ya'll know good and well those two will be the first ones Cody and Bramdi will be thrown into a program with...Cody wants to model him and Brandi like Miz/Maryse.
That would be coolThe ultimate work would be if TK purchased ROH behind the scenes that will relaunch in April. Have it as if Cody and Brandi took the TBS money and had their own ownership group. You can have a legends ownership group of disgruntled Wrestlers like Bray Wyatt Adam Scherer move Sting and bring back Jeff Jarrett create a breeding ground for new talent and the lesser talent on AEW can "jump ship". He would get the video catalog a second TV deal

If it weren't for Sinclair trying to get their own streaming service up and running, I could see WWE swooping in to purchase the video catalog for their content. Especially with all the ROH alums that have bounced to the WWE and elsewhere like AEW and Impact.![]()
