Why would I stop thinking in the old school when that's the thinking EVERYONE wants to come back? This "new school" booking is the thing everyone find boring to the point where fans aren't even watching the shows, just reading spoilers and recaps to see if they missed anything.
There's nothing honorable about burying your top heels. Just because it's Rock doesn't make it okay. It's not like Sandow getting killed by DX, he's new and this won't hurt him long term and HHH is a big fan so he might even end up putting him over in the future.
Punk was in the best position of his career and coming off two great feuds (Jericho and Bryan) where the only problems were booking because the matches were excellent. The idea that he was becoming irrelevent is just insane.

I think Punk should go over but I have a hard time seeing that and they will book Rock and Cena for the title at Mania. Maybe Punk can get the Undertaker match (though I've had a feeling since he came back that was Brock's spot). Punk will be worse off in the long run with this heel turn than if he had stayed face a while longer.

Who was buried last night? If you're talking about Bryan i really don't see how he was buried, especially now that he's got a potential mainstream feud with that lunatic Sheen. Sandow taking a pedigree could be more damaging since as you pointed out he's new to the company. As for Punk he's been basically a glorified mid-carder since becoming champ so this turn pushes him back into the ME, he can always switch back and the fans will love him just the same. Punk loves being a heel and you can tell by his "Devil Exist" promo and S.E.S days. Honestly the only problem i had last night was HHH once again needing to stand tall because if Lesnar doesn't get the upper hand in this feud, then this was another missed opportunity re-establishing Lesnar as a monster.

BTW: How great is it that this thread is back active again:lol:

If anyone was really buried it might of been Jack Swagger in my opinion, they just dont have no plans for him now so he's been put in that jobber spot, I mean hell the match between him and Clay was over in about 11 seconds then to top it off he got the manniable claw from Dude Love

This thread is actually the longest thread on the main board now, the 2nd longest thread is the GIF request thread and this thread has 3000+ move replies than that one.

I have 522 posts in this thread

Trust me, the days of Lesnar being a monster are over. Since his meeting with UFC, Vince has been pissed with him and word is that the only reason he is still around is because HHH wants to put himself over in the feud. Not sure how 100% true it is, but we shall see leading up to Summerslam.

Dave you're sounding like a lot of the smarks on the boards i've been visiting. Punk had become a bore and needed to switch it up which is a good thing, he was the #2 face but was sacrificing his edge in the process. Bryan taking the Rock Bottom was a fun moment and there's no need to get his heat back, getting Rock Bottomed is an honor just like getting a Stunner or Tombstone. You have to stop thinking in old school terms because those rules have been killed off a long time ago. I think Punk should go over Rock at the RR because i could see them letting Cena win and setting up the rematch at Mania(which we don't need to see again).

Agreed

So nobody is upset at the racist shit in the skit with Slick??!!! Ya'll gonna act like ya'll ain't hear him say the WWE promised his a "whole lot of yard bird" (chicken) for his services??!!!! Fuck that!!!!

Dude that was Slick back in the day and aside from the yard bird comment he was actually really good on Raw.

Lesnar might just be happy getting the 5mil and knowing he could legitimately beat the hell out of everyone there, all the while knowing HHH needs to live the fantasy of being this bad ass brawler who always comes out on top.

was I the only one thinking that the wedding props were going to fall down every time Slick was moving ?

Man, Slick is big as hell up close. Now that he's put on some weight, he's too big to be a manager unless he managed Andre the Giant.

It's great having the thread back strong.:D

Daniel Bryan was embarassed at his wedding and then RBed by the Rock. Yeah, he'll get a lot of attention and publicity with Sheen but if it ends up as a match and he loses or even gives Sheen too much offense, he's Bam Bam Bigelow 2.0.
You are really underestimating where Punk was. There were only two angles that got real play on Raw: Punk's and Cena's. It was Punk and Cena who were put on SD (pushing down Sheamus), not just Cena.
Okay, he's in the real main event: against Cena. Then what? The word is they're going to drag out this turn but can they drag it out until the Rumble? He'll either lose the title to Cena (not good) or he'l feud with somebody else and the Cena match will still be the final match on the show.
I prefer Punk as a heel but they did this wrong and at the wrong time.

If anyone was really buried it might of been Jack Swagger in my opinion, they just dont have no plans for him now so he's been put in that jobber spot, I mean hell the match between him and Clay was over in about 11 seconds then to top it off he got the manniable claw from Dude Love

Swagger needs to quit.

Doubt it. I see Brock beating HHH.

Kharma confirmed on Twitter this week that she was indeed released from WWE. A fan asked if it was true that Kharma was "granted" her release from WWE. Kharma replied:

"yes, I was. It doesn't mean I'll never be back."

- Regarding Alex Riley's status with WWE, it's said that he lost his push that was in the works because of a backstage incident with John Cena.

PWInsider.com reports word going around is that a while back, Riley was backstage with John Cena and Cena was ribbing him in front of some of the other wrestlers. Riley reportedly came back angrily at Cena, which was seen as him "breaking the code of the locker-room."

Well they fucked up a potentially great Kharma/phoenix feud:smh: As for Riley he did break the code but i've heard reports that Cena can go overboard with the ribbing, so maybe Riley is just the 1st to actually call him on it idk.

You really believed we could've had a great Kharma/Phoenix feud in the WWE? We would've gotten a 5 minute throwaway PPV match with little build up at MOST. Kharma is better off in terms of matches that fans we think anything of without the WWE. Now, in terms of her wallet, that's an entirely different story.

He must have went at him about his wife or something real personal because this burial has gone on for over a year now, including time away when he was injured.
Even so, I don't throw money away over a "boys will be boys" moment. Someone should have sat them down like a pair of 8 yr olds and made them hash it out and moved on. Riley was getting over and it's foolish to kill him off like this. When I saw him on SD a few months ago in a match with Broadus, he still got a lot of cheers so fans haven't forgotten.

I think they would have given those two more time but it's just as possible that it would have been disappointing.
Considering she left TNA on good terms, maybe that door is still open. They love to bring in former WWE talents and she can be billed as "too destructive for WWE" or some shit.
If not TNA, somebody needs to book Awesome Kong vs Mickie James.

Did you see people cheering him? I ask because SD is pre-taped so the crowd reactions are piped in a lot.

Kharma vs Beth could've been really good and the wwe can have good diva matches when they get behind them, i remember still remember the match Beth had with Melina before Melina became a walking disaster.

The camera was on him and not the crowd but it wasn't the typical piped in "applause" and Riley responded to it. Plus, they wouldn't give him fake applause because Broadus was supposed to be the pushed babyface in the match. He just would have gotten the chirping crickets guys like Curt Hawkins get when they're on Smackdown.

VELVET SKY UPDATE
by Mike Johnson @ 2:38 PM on 7/25/2012

TNA has removed Velvet Sky's profile from their roster page on the TNA website.
As PWInsider.com broke late Monday, Sky was expected by sources to exit the company. Sky was signed by the company in 2007.

:(

One of the first girls they brought in when they were beefing up the KO division. Now all of the Beautiful People are gone from TNA, where at one time they had the highest rated segments on Impact!

But, unlike Sara Del Ray, Velvet would be perfect for WWE and the short Divas matches they have now. She's pretty, she's not overally tatted up (like Angelina Love), and she's no better than decent in the ring but a good promo. Good luck to her.

Rock's WWE Future, Undertaker's Return and CM Punk
Posted by Steve Carrier on 07/25/2012 at 08:17 PM

- The Undertaker was said to be very relaxed backstage at RAW 1000. His official return to the storylines is scheduled for Survivor Series in November.

- F4Wonline.com reports that The Rock is scheduled to win the WWE Title at the 2013 Royal Rumble pay-per-view and then defend it against John Cena at WrestleMania 29.

- We had been talking about WWE planning a big summer angle, similar to the Nexus and CM Punk "pipebomb" angles of the past few years. The CM Punk heel turn on RAW 1000 was that long-planned angle.

It's an outside possibility but he just had another major surgery and if he can't go like Steve Austin, he wont get in the ring and be embarassed.

Punk's in real trouble unless HHH has them book Punk like he used to be booked when he was a heel champ.

He's in trouble.

5:14 PM: Sky's profile is back up on the site.

Now I think TNA is playing games. Once the news got out, they put her back. I still think she's out unless there's been a change very, very recently.

Now it's official

by Dave Scherer @ 4:43 PM on 7/26/2012

Velvet Sky posted the following on her Twitter account.
"I have been granted my release by TNA at this time. It's what's best for me right now and I wanted to thank TNA and all the fans for their constant support in me. Stay tuned though..And I also want to thank Vince Russo for creating and believing in the team of The Beautiful People. We had a great run!"

Glad to see someone show some love to Russo. He was an idiot and was kept on too long but he had some good ideas too.

Best two matches on cable this week were both on Impact!: AJ Styles vs James Storm and Bully Ray vs Kurt Angle.
Raw was fun but Impact! was the better wrestling show again this week.
If there was any doubt that the Joey Ryan story is an angle, no one in their right mind would steal on Al Snow. Not only will he fuck you up, he's still fit enough to run you down.

Inside The Ropes Radio with George "The Animal" Steele
Show airs Thursday nights at 10:00 p.m.
Available at InsideTheRopes.podbean.com.

On his character becoming nonsensical in his promos: "I did my own interviews and I was very articulate in the WWF when I got there but once they called me The Animal, and I was doing an interview with Vince and he said I was making too much sense for an animal so i turned into the ooh ooh aah guy and became the comedy character and it was a great run."

On working WrestleMania 2 with Randy Savage: "I had a great time. It was not as stressful as when I wrestled Bruno because Bruno and I were hardcore. I was a cartoon character with Randy so it was easier. Randy was in all honesty, a very jealous guy about Elizabeth and what you saw was sort of real. So then the further I went on TV to make him jealous and the further I got, the angrier he was."

Memories of WM3: "It was about 12 miles from home. The Savage/Steamboat thing was Not my kinda match. i heard them talk that match for three weeks, i was sick of hearing about it. They called the spots, it was a great match but there was no psychology. Andre was a very good friend, Vince and Hogan did not know what Andre would do when he got to the ring if he’d lay down. He sort of kayfabed them. I’m sitting watching, laughing my tail off because I knew what Andre would do. When Hogan slammed Andre, that made him."

Why he left WWF in 1989: "I was deathly ill with Crohn's Disease. I was in hospital for a month, and I knew it was all over, I couldn’t keep wrestling. I didn’t know I’d have to retire, but once I got to hospital, I knew it was over."

On being put into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1995 and founding the PWHOF: "It was fine. they brought my family in. After my induction they didn’t do any inductions for years. I got to talking to this guy Tony Mollano who’s responsible for the boxing hall of fame and I told him there wasn’t a physical building, and so we set up the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in Amsterdam, New York. It’s a good thing. We’re not in competition with Vince. But we have a building people can come along and take a look at history."

Thoughts on Montreal Screwjob: "To me that’s one of the biggest jokes in wrestling of all time. Lets be honest, who did Bret Hart beat to win the belt? They give him the belt and then he can’t drop the belt in his own country? Give me a frickin break. By Vince doing the double cross Vince became the hottest thing in the business when all he did was take his belt back. He outdid everyone who walked away like Hulk and Bret."

Quick Fire Thoughts:

Hulk Hogan: Right place, right time.

Bret hart: Lucky

John Cena: Johnny come lately

Ric Flair: needed the belt

Undertaker: One of a kind

The Rock: Great.

Ultimate Warrior: *laughs* Thats all I have to say.

Steele also talks about coming up with his ring name, facing Sammartino at MSG, The experience of WrestleMania 2 being in three cities, starring in Tim Burton’s "Ed Wood" and his faith and lack of involvement with wrestling in recent years.

I kind of agree with him on the Savage/Steamboat match, i mean the build up was some of the greatest work of all time but the match was a bit overrated imo.
