The Good And Bad Of ROH new show ....
The Good
Slim J vs. Mark Briscoe (Good opening match. I'm not too familiar with Slim J's work but he showed some solid stuff here. Mark was good as always. Mark Briscoe wins via Jay drilla!)
The Infantry vs. The Kingdom (Pretty much a competitive squash match for Taven and Bennett. They'll definitely be major players in the tag team division when TK decides what he wants to do with the belts.)
Blake Christian vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (Didn't expect to see ZSJ defending the IWGP TV title on this show but I'll take it. I like Christian's work. He's fluid, explosive and technically sound but he's not on ZSJ's level. This was a excellent match. Great counters and solid psychology. ZSJ calls out Bryan Danielson and proclaims that he's the best technical wrestler in the world not Danielson. I would love to see it. They should save it for "Forbidden Door 2".)
Konosuke Takeshita vs. Josh Woods (Banger match. Takeshita over big time with the ROH audience. Dude is just awesome! I don't think he's had a bad match yet. Good work from Woods in this too.)
The Embassy vs Joe Keys, Rex Lawless & LSG (An effective squash match for Brian Cage, Kaun and Toa Liona. All three men work well together and if pushed correctly should be the top heel group in ROH.)
Madison Rayne & Skye Blue vs. The Renegades (Skye Blue has really developed into a solid worker. The fluidity in her movement is there. The transition smoothness is there. The stiffness in her strikes is there. You can tell she understands what she's doing in the ring. She gets it. Only thing really left for her to do is to work on her promos. If she can get that down she has a bright future ahead of her. Could possibly be world champion in the future. I absolutely loved her work in this match and that's the only reason to really watch this match.
The Renegades have potential but they're still too awkward in the ring. They're still thinking too much in the ring about where they need to be position wise on certain spots. it's become too noticeable. A good worker knows where they need to be in the ring on spots where it looks natural. Madison Rayne has always been consistent but nothing really special stands out about her work.)
AR Fox vs. Claudio (Excellent match. Good chemistry between these two. Need to keep Claudio as the champ for awhile.)
The Bad
Rohit Raju vs. Christopher Daniels (Not too familiar with Raji's work but I did like what I saw out of him in this match. He's fast and does everything with intensity. I'm definitely interested in seeing more of his work in the future. On the other hand why is Christopher Daniels still wrestling? I thought he was suppose to retire years ago when they broke up SCU. I definitely don't need to see another Christopher Daniels match in 2023.)
Metalik vs. Ari Daiivari (Metalik is fantastic! WWE completely wasted him. I hope he becomes a main player in ROH. Daiivari on the other hand sucks. His work is as generic as It gets and that's what brought down this match.)
Lady Frost vs. Willow Nightingale (Pretty much a squash match for Willow. Lady Frost has a superb Moonsalt. Wanted to see more out of her in this match. Willow will face Athena next week for the ROH Women's Championship.)
Overall this was a good show. Booking was solid. No silly nonsense on the show. Just straight in ring action. Loved it.
