A Question for Upgrade Dave or anyone else who can answer

Who was Randy Savage's protege in WcW supposed to be? He cut a few promos before leaving the company for good, about someone that he had found that would be the future of the company. Never heard who it was supposed to be.

Miz is a great talker and has turned into a very good wrestler. He came up in WWE just like Bret and Shawn did: start from the bottom, make his mark in a tag team, hold a mid card title, and then win the World title, all the while, having good matches.
I didn't like him for a long time but he really improved while working with Morrison and he's earned his spot. Plus WWE needs some new top guys. HHH and Taker are literally on their last legs.

I have no problem with Miz being propelled into a world champ. Miz worked is way up from being the Diva contestant host to being a good all around worker. Creating new stars is a must in the wrestling bussiness. Guys can go down with injuries at any time. Hell WWE lost two top stars right after each other with HBK & Batista retiring. The whole point of Sheamus jobing to Santino was to open up a story to propell Morrison into a respectable face ( plus he need a filler fued untill HHH gets back ). Cena, Orton, & HHH have a history of injuries, WWE needs some insurance if one of those guys go down again and Morrison has earned his chance like Miz.

I agree

though I think they went about the Sheamus-Morrison-Santino angle wrong and ended up bringing down Sheamus instead of elevating Morrison. But they are correcting course now.

NoDQ.com > WWE > Spoiler: SmackDown Stars Revealed for KOTR
Posted by Steve Carrier on 11/24/2010 at 02:17 AM

- Coming out of last night's WWE SmackDown tapings, here is the updated line-up for next Monday night's King of the Ring tournament on the three-hour RAW:

RAW Superstars
Sheamus, John Morrison, Ezekiel Jackson and United States Champion Daniel Bryan

SmackDown Superstars
Kofi Kingston, Alberto Del Rio, Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes

Drew McIntyre defeated M.V.P in a matchup of two superstars that has thus far failed to live up to expectations. At this point M.V.P is basically a jobber because he very rarely wins anymore.I liked M.V.P when he first came on the scene but now he seems watered down.He would be a good fit for ECW if they still had ECW.

So I guess McIntyre isn't entirely in the doghouse or they really don't see shit in MVP.
I'm leaning toward Del Rios for KotR.
About MVP
I defend them putting the WWE title on Miz because he is a good wrestler and great personality but Porter has those same characteristics and he's a struggling midcarder. He should have at least had a run at the top by now but it looks like it will never happen. Then they wonder why people think they're racist.

Yea I don't get the criticism dudes are giving Miz. I mean I do think its a bit early to call him a main eventer but the dude has put in work. And i'm a dude who use to watch those Real World Road Rules shows and I honestly forgot he was on there. He's done a good job of escaping that reality show perception that haunted him for awhile. He's a solid wrestler. He gets better each time he's out there. I think he's more worthy of being a champion than Randy Orton to be honest. Miz put in his work. Probably harder than most of these guys. That being said, WWE probably won't keep the title in his hand svery long. They probably are just trying to speed up the process in making him a legit main eventer like they did Swagger and Shaemus.

I don't get why the WWE thinks people like to watch McIntyre wrestle. They're just shitting on MVP. He's putting up with it like a champ. I'm sure the checks cash so he probably doesn't care but its fucked up. They did the same shit with Kofi as well and he was right on the cusps of being a main eventer. The night he beat the shit out of Randy Orton on Raw and WWE fucked that up.

Yea there was a point on Raw MVP was even getting some time on Main Events with that Team Raw shit. I don't get what MVP has done unless its some behind the scenes shit. MVP has put in just as much work if not more than Miz has and is not getting the push. Its just crazy how quick guys like Shaemus, Swagger and Mcintyre have gotten these pushes and hell I guess MVP sort of dude back when he was a heel because he was sort of in that same league earlier in his career and did it rather fast but I guess whoever that writer is must not be with the company any longer because he has gone downhill since.

Yep to all this. His matches and promos have been better than anything Randy's done in at least a year.
He won't be champ long but this will be the first of many runs at the top, if not champ for him. With him, Barrett, and Sheamus, WWE finally has a nice group of young top heels.

McIntyre isn't bad but he's not interesting and really pales compared to the other young guys I mentioned before plus Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler. Hell, I forgot CM Punk and Alberto Del Rios.
P's been getting more and more vocal lately and I'm sure that's not helping but at this point, it can't hurt either.

This comes straight from the horses mouth himself:
- MVP spoke with The Miami Herald this weekend about online reports of him being worried about his spot in WWE lately. He said:

"There were a lot of the wrestling Internet sites that have been promoting this false information, I never at any point felt threatened or was worried about my spot. I put it bluntly. A lot of the guys coming in today don't have the background in wrestling. A lot guys are being recruited as former college athletes, football players. They can't do what I do. So I've never been concerned.

"Besides that, I wish them the best of luck. The more stars we have the better the product is. So if they are developing new stars, that is great, but at no point have I felt threatened or concerned or anything along those lines. I go out there every night win, lose or draw, and I still get one of the biggest receptions from the crowd every night, no matter where we go in the world. When the WWE universe stops accepting me, then I will know something is wrong.''

after reading it seems M.V.P isn't worried about his spot on the roster. As long as he continues to put in work and stay out of trouble he should be ok.

I'm with you. Whoever was P's backer in creative must be gone from the company. MVP could be right up there with Miz and Barrett. I think Kofi could be and should be by now, one of their top faces but he doesn't even get much mic time since they dropped that bad Jamaican gimmick.

I agree but at some point they need some young top faces as well.
That's probably why they put Morrison over Sheamus at Survivor Series plus they have Daniel Bryan as well shooting up because like u said Triple H has one good quad left and he'll be gone soon so will Taker if not this year then next year at the earliest.

Definitely. I have a hard time seeing Bryan ever being the WWE/World champion but he'll be a player in WWE for a while. When Morrison puts on a little more weight and learns how to work a little more without so many highspots, I can see them putting one of the top titles on him, similar to Shawn Michaels.

after that program he did with Orton I just knew Kofi was on his way up but I think it was a pay per view where Edge basically beat the shit out of Kofi as he was on his way to the Elimnation Chamber match I kind of felt that was the beginning of the end for him but since he has won the I-C title and was on Bragging Rights so he's a decent mid-carder.

Yea Kofi agree with the above. I thought Kofi's future was bright. And it still is I guess but I think the WWE is blowing it with him. He should be a main eventer by now. He and MVP. Some guys they just want to keep down like they did Matt Hardy.

Yea I was just wondering while watching Raw how far Danielson will go in the company. I wonder will we ever see him with a WWE World Title. He's already further than I thought he would be. I didn't expect for him to have a title so early in the company.

Yep to all this. His matches and promos have been better than anything Randy's done in at least a year.

Drew McIntyre....I don't know what it is about him. I just don't like watching his matches or his mic skills. Same goes for Cody. Don't like either of them. Rios and Ziggler to me are probably the best heels Smackdown has to offer right now since last I saw they had Edge on some face type shit. McInTyre sort of has that bland element that Randy does but somehow Randy has made it work for him. McIntyre hasn't been able to do that.

The problem is that they made Orton this "stone cold" lite character and it's not working. If he went back to his "cocky douchebag" character like that RNN shit he used to do he won't be bland.

I think the Miz winning was cool. I think if they find a good angle for Morrison and work on his moveset and give him a good finisher, he could be a main eventer as well. The same with MVP. I could see Miz being the next Jericho, Morrison the next HBK, MVP and Kofi being the next Booker T.

Vince is gonna pull a swerve..........

Zeke is gonna win KoTR.

Cena's profile has been taking off the WWE page and placed on the WWE alumni page, but he'll re-emerge as a monster heel in 2011. Zeke will be the "black superhero" who will get his ass kicked by the heel Cena.

Miz will be a tweener like Jericho (who WWE desperately needs)
Morrison will go back into a heel.
Shad will join TNA and become just another jobber.

The problem is that they made Orton this "stone cold" lite character and it's not working. If he went back to his "cocky douchebag" character like that RNN shit he used to do he won't be bland.

The thing is is that with his heel character the only way to make him a face was to do it how they have. Problem is, there aren't that many great heels that even remotely compare to who Stone Cold got to face off with. The writing involved his feuds have been horrible. I mean Edge and Orton didn't provide for even 1 great moment or memorable moment when they feuded. And things being PG don't help either.

Miz as champion is good. Not great. WWE has to do this to make stars. Now maybe John Morrison might get the push at the title he deserves.

Look, Jeff Hardy is a nerd with that space age title he has. Matt is still simping over Amy Dumas after Edge clowned him on National TV.

Dave Meltzer has confirmed that current plans have John Cena appearing on television and house shows under a mask as his "cousin" Juan Cena. The idea is that Cena will continue to get under Barrett's skin until Cena is reinstated.

The reason why WWE isn't keeping Cena off television to sell the stipulation is because they are afraid of TV ratings and merchandise sales dropping without him around.
There is said to be concern behind the scenes regarding PPV vs. TV and how WWE could be hurting PPV buyrates even more by doing the big storylines on RAW instead of Survivor Series.

With the holidays coming I'm not suprised by WWE doing this. They need their main cash cow around to sell merchandise.

I hope this "Juan Cena" shit is fake.:smh:

Why am I just finding out that Patrice O'Neal, the comedian, use to write for WWE? How did that happen?

While TNA's booking is it's usual hot and cold self, the empty arena match with the Motor City Machine Guns and Generation Me was very good (worth checking out) and they should steal the show a Full Metal Mayhem match at Final Resolution '10.

TNA is another WCW. Good lightweights, plus wrestlers who have main event potential, old wrestlers who are keeping the young wrestlers down awful booking etc. They should of tried to get Paul Heyman but I don't believe anybody can turn that company around except Dana White.
