Unless she can turn all this backlash against her into some serious heat for an angle, I would have to say she's the worst AEW signing so far.
Paige/Saraya previously had that title but Sasha/Mercedes seems to be running away with it now, especially considering how much she's being paid.
The worst by far. She hasn't even wrestled a match yet and she's been on the payroll since December/January and people are already tired of her shtick.

She got a big featured debut in her hometown and numbers just have not improved after the small bump in ratings.

TK should have waited on her to be ready to wrestle before her debut. Having her debut on TV but still not being cleared was a dumb move. There is no really excitement and her showing up cutting cringey promos on television are all the more noticable when she isn't letting her in ring work speak.

Although the other two could be seen as bad signings due to poor return, Ospreay and Okada, while not helping the ratings all that much either aren't as bad since they actually wrestle. Additionally they were still relatively unknown to most American audiences.

Mercedes/Sasha was a WWE superstar for years and on one of the most popular TV shows in the last four years yet none of that translated well for her TV time on AEW.

She's been the drizzling shits.

To be fair to all the recent AEW signings, almost no AEW signing would be able to sustain higher TV ratings because of the poor booking.
It's not necessarily a knock on the talent.
At best they get a small bump for the debut and then the ratings return back to where they were or even get worse.
I see Ospreay as a good signing so far because he has good matches and can cut a decent promo.
Okada has just come off as so-so to me since he doesn't do promos and his matches so far in AEW have just been ok, nothing great.
Being a stooge for the Young Bucks doesn't exactly enhance his image.

Mercedes/Sasha will eventually go back to WWE and all this will be forgotten for the most part by the WWE audience.
It's clear she needs to be scripted and heavily produced to come off as the star she was in WWE.
In AEW, where talent are allowed to just do want they want, she's been exposed and probably reduced her value when she does sign with WWE.

But AEW hired a WWE writer specifically to work with Mercedes, remember?

She is being scripted, it just sucks because AEWs production is no where near as polished as WWEs, and it’s made her lack of acting/promo skills more apparent.

Speaking of pivots an unpopular opinion Willow should beat Mercedes at "Double Or Nothing" but I don't think TK has the balls to do that.

Brother Mastermind2002, I really hope that Willow win this match and keep the belt!!..It would be some bullshit if they put the belt on Mercedes Mone in her first match at AEW!!.. :smh:

But, I have a feeling that something is going to happen in this match...Maybe Kris Statlander is going to turn heel and interfere in the match? or Someone is going to show up and interfere in the match!!..

We will have to wait and see!!.

But if Mercedes Mone wins then the fans in attendance and people on the internet will react negatively and nothing says heel heat like that according to some people. If nothing else Tony Khan can't be so stupid as to not have Mercedes be a full fledged heel by the end of that match

I doubt people will care. Willow hasn't been given enough time with the belt to make a loss transform to real heat on Mercedes

Mercedes is not good enough to be a full fledged heel, especially if her recent promo work is any indication.

The audience has to care enough for her to get heat. The PPV audience may be different, but weekly TV show audience is so muted, it's going to be very difficult for her to get heel heat.

EPDC, Bruh I have to agree with you on this one!!..

He's as good as gone. Put him on NXT for 6 to 8 months so he doesn't get lost in the shuffle on main.

If he made the jump, he should stay in NXT for a long run. Especially if Rock is going to be in and out in WWE over the next year. He's too similar to Dwayne and would immediately be lost in the shuffle and labeled a Rock wannabe.

Have him run it in NXT and help build up that brand.

Yeah, keep him in NXT for at least a year so he can develop his own character instead of being a 'mini-Rock'.
He could also stand to put a little more weight on.
Eventually he could be the NXT champion and then go up to the main roster and be a player.

It's clear Starks is just waiting on his AEW deal to run out so he can bounce.
His boy Cody is there and I'm sure he's already put in a good word for him.
Starks was at WM to see Cody win the championship so not putting him on TV is probably AEW's passive aggressive way of punishing him.

I saw a tweet that there was no mention of AEW during WBD's upfront presentation today. I also saw other tweets that there is a new AEW show that is going to be announced soon and that WBD may want AEW PPVs on Max. Don't know what to believe but I imagine if WBD loses out on the NBA, it isn't going to be good news for AEW's TV deal.

I'm in a wait and see mode on all of this. I hope it works out for the best but if worse comes to worse TK will have to shop the shows elsewhere. Maybe take the shows to streaming.

@EPDC Was this the new AEW show you we're talking about? I wouldn't make much sense to add a new show if WBD doesn't plan on keeping AEW.

I just saw tweet that a new "non-reality" show would be announced. Perhaps this is it. When I read "non-reality" show, I figured it would be another wrestling show.....

I think AEW and WBD are on good terms!!..WBD sees how AEW is growing and they are one of their best shows on their Network!!...Also, I'm hearing that they might go streaming on MAX for their PPV's...So I think they are going to keep this partnership going!!..

With WBD possibly losing the NBA, it's not going to bode well for an AEW deal. I think they will sign AEW to a new deal but I expect the deal to be well below what it would have been had WBD retained the NBA rights.

The NBA and other programs on Turner networks are like sharks that AEW attached itself to like a remora. AEW ate well off the scraps those programs left, but with the great white shark (NBA) no longer swimming in Turner waters, no the remora will be left to fend for its self and I don't see it pulling in the numbers (ratings wise) for WBD to strike a deal beneficial to AEW.

In short, AEW doesn't have bargaining power and WBD will be in cost saving mode. I expect massive cuts coming AEW's way in the near future.

If WBD is not willing to spend the money to keep the NBA that tells me they are in cost-cutting mode and may be divesting themselves of big-time sports altogether. If they do keep AEW they may not be willing to pay as much as folks are thinking.

Yep! Even if producing AEW is low, it may be cheaper to run additional episodes of Big Bang Theory on Wednesdays or have additional showings of Star Wars films on Saturday nights.

I know I'm asking for too much but I need another surprise Mina Shirakawa appearance tonight on Dynamite! Keep those frequent flyer miles going Mina!

:dance::inlove::dance:

The new belts look nice but Rossy could've done something different than copy the red and white belt color scheme of Stardom. Utami will most likely be the first Red belt champ with MIRAI being the first white belt champ!

I wish these wrestling companies would run shows on Saturday and Sunday mornings like when we were kids. WOW is the only one I can think of that runs shows on Sunday mornings.

AEW should do an early Saturday show. Fuck it, they minus whale do a WCW Saturday Night type of show that airs at 6:05pm on Turner stations.

With so much primetime competition, it can’t hurt to run shows earlier, if not for nostalgia sake. I love it when WWE runs PPVs overseas, these Saturday morning/afternoon shows are great and definitely beats the later night shows.
