The Weeknd Crushes The Competition With 325K Copies

How does the album sound.Last one was a piece of shit compared to House Of Ballons.

Str8 pop. Next he'll be on some edm shit. He got a taste of that white folks money now he on some other shit. I'm hurt too because he was so cold on these hoes. :smh:

Yup. His new shit is wack as hell imo.... especially compared to how amazing that first project was. :smh:

I can't knock him for going pop but house of ballons is the only thing I can listen to straight through from him

Other than that 90% ain't for me

Too much pop and rave music and shit

^^^^^

yup, talked about this in another thread awhile back...dude helped seal the deal on much pussy back in 2011. not feeling this shit he's on now, but glad he's gettin' his shine

People say he's going pop but he's actually going back to the music he used to make before HOB, like the song below. He later hooked up with another producer who got him doing "dark R&B" and they called their group The Weeknd and created House of Balloons. They later parted ways but he kept The Weeknd name and sort of stayed with a darker sound. But this is why a lot of his music before and after HOB sounds inferior to HOB itself.

I feel what you're saying on the sound, but Doc Mckinney & Illangelo is given credit for most of the production work on all of the Trilogy albums. Everything up to Kissland.

Read an article a few months back in the NYTimes....this nigga thinks he is the next MJ. :smh::mike:

That Dirty Diana fail makes sense now.

Can't knock him for dreaming big though. :dunno: ....I guess.

I don't know about all this. I mean he is talented but that does not say much in this day and age. He does go hard on stuff but it seems more like schock value. After awhile it all sounds the same o, same o. Like Biggie just talked about smoking blunts, fucking hoes, this dude flow is the same. Just talking about getting high, fucking hoes, etc.. He putting in the work and got a buzz but he gonna have to move beyond the basic shit in order to go to that next level.

Put another way, Joe be talking bout the same shit but he say it in a slick way bu this cat just comes out and say it directly. Me personally I can do without all the explicit shit because it don't move me. I prefer you lay the foundation, and let me take it from there. You know like them old school cats used to do.

Weeknd is one the most talented artist of this generation. I think the older u get the more jaded u become and u don’t wanna hear that caping and women worship shit. One day someone put me on to this cats music. I was shocked appalled and couldn’t turn it off my first time hearing it. All the songs was about getting bitches high, not believing in love and spending the rest of your time fucking bad strippers. It was a breath of fresh air. I must’ve played that trilogy album for 8 months straight. Majority of people won’t like his shit cuz of his voice, his hair and cuz he doesn’t dance and his music isn’t radio friendly. But if u give it a chance u’ll see the beauty behind the madness. Just a crazy mix of rock, hip-hop and gangsta R&B (if theres such a thing). This is my favorite track from the new album. Crazy. “I'm that nigga with the hair singing about poppin pills, fuckin bitches, livin life sooo trill”. :wepraise::wepraise::wepraise:

This joint right here grew on me something serious!

Go listen to some Ralph Tresvant serenade and save a hoe type shit then, nigga. Niggas ain't really tryna hear that jacket across da mud puddle type shit no mo' fa' these dog azz hoes. :dunno:

I guess he's the new Miguel. Let's see how long it last :dunno:

They don't seem to have these dudes sustain careers and do R&B and not pop

damn, he pulled a Flava Flav (completely sold out but got the money)

"paying homage" to Michael Jackson and shit

Uhhh, me and the Mrs. just picked this album up a couple of weeks ago, along with Raheeem DeVaughn, Jilly from Philly, and Tyrese.

All albums are good listens.

Jill's is hot to me, from beginning to end, but this The Weekend Guy is putting hoes on "gangsta rap" notice, over some Teddy Pendegrass R&B production and he tellin' these hoe's how it's gon' go and I LOVE IT.

My girl come hope from work everyday BUMPIN' this ninja's sh!t.

Hell, I know it is a stripper somewhere in the A who is dancing to at least TRHEE of this ninjas songs in they set, because the bass go-so-hard.

However, if the Fam is saying this album sucks, and I like it, when I pull up Trilogy and House of Balloons, I should be blown away, right?:dunno:

This is str8t garbage. He's essentially Miguel 2.0. BTW, this ish ain't R&B, this is pop. This is only "R&B" because the powers that be decided to call this ish R&B. He sold 325K OK. How many of those did the label buy to fudge the numbers? Actually, the question I have is how many of your ninjas paid out of your pockets for this ish?

Man I slept on this kat because of the cursing in the songs. Thought it was deliberate to shock people. Reading his back story along with listening to more tracks I can say I'm blown away. Dude got me fucking chicks to music again
