Well, That's over... Started out strong, zombies became popular culture then died out. The show became bland AF, glad to see they handled black people better over time. Came a long way from T-Dog and his pussy antics.
Aside from that, I'm happy the show is over, but now AMC has doubled down on becoming the walking dead channel.
There was a time they used to play films and shit.
At least it didn't shit the bed like Sopranos or Game of Thrones

I love The walking dead, but have learned to fast forward the dialogue scenes the moment pianos and strings start playing in the background. They're boring as fuck and don't add anything to the show.
It means that I usually get through a 1 hour episode in about 40 minutes. The series finale took 30.

Brought majority of remaining characters back together for one final battle.
The new Walker Variants ain’t no joke. Mofos picking up rocks to bust thru glass doors. Working together to entrap the living, climbing walls will definitely make things interesting in the future series.
Rosita is the Girl. I was sitting on the edge of my couch when she fell and Ol’ Gurl busted out and went hardcore while carrying her kid.
Daryl had the best line putting it all together pointing out that all the BS has been with everybody trying to make things like what it was pre-apocalypse. And Daryl got the honor saying the title of the show in the show. That is a Hollywood tradition with all projects to put the title somewhere in the project.
They set it up for Neagan and Maggie. I personally think they set it up too quick for them to forgive each other and to be friends. That should have been saved for the series.
They set it up for Daryl’s series. He and Carol finally had a talk to confirm their relationship and that they weren’t “Fuck Buddies”. Just close friends who loved and cared for each other. Now we got to find out how Daryl gets his ass to Paris in the new series.
And we got information on Rick. He had on a Leather, Circle Republic jacket and looks to have managed to escape from them. He didn’t look like he was a prisoner, he seemed to be not cool with how they operate and managed to escape somehow. How he escaped is going to be interesting being we were told in “A World Beyond” nobody can get out. Rick must have had a high status in their organization. We will find out.
Couple of supporting characters went out in the final battle. No big loss.
Rosita died leaving Gabriel and their daughter alone.
Overall, the series was good. It had a low point for about 4/5 seasons, but picked it up in the last 2 seasons to close it out. It was well worth the wait.
I would love to rewatch the whole the whole series from start to finish. I might watch one episode a week in the near future to resoak it all in.

Fear of the Walking Dead will be the new Flagship show. Hopefully Morgan and Madison will give us some insight on the overall big picture behind the apocalypse with where they are headed.

I have wondered if all of the planned Walking Dead spin-offs would survive the recent upheaval over at AMC, where poor financial results have resulted in mass layoffs, surprise cancellations and even reversing previous renewals of shows.
But if AMC has its bread and butter, it’s The Walking Dead. So far, the only casualty is the announcement that Fear the Walking Dead is ending after its eighth season, no great tragedy, considering it should have ended about four seasons ago in the first place.
However, the planned Walking Dead spin-offs that are all supposed to air in this new post-main series era are all still going forward. Not only that, but AMC is now putting together a more coherent timeline for them, including an order in which they will air.
• Dead City,the spin-off which follows Negan and Maggie trying to rescue a kidnapped Herschel in Manhattan, will air in June of 2023, after some previous talk that it might air in April instead.
• Daryl Dixon, the self-titled Daryl spin-off where he’s abducted and taken to France, where he’ll have to deal with the “fast zombie” variants over there, is supposed to air some time in the later half of 2023, as it’s currently filming. Possibly in The Walking Dead’s old October premiere slot.
• The Rick and Michonne spin-off, which has evolved from the concept of Rick Grimes movies, and will cover Rick’s imprisonment by the CRM and Michonne’s quest to find him, will air some time in 2024, and production has not started yet.
One thing that remains cloudy is the fate of Tales of the Walking Dead, the anthology series full of standalone stories that AMC has not confirmed renewed for a season 2 or cancelled just yet. My guess is we don’t see it return.
So, will this spin-off-based direction work for AMC? What I’m still not clear about is if all these shows are meant to be miniseries or not. At certain points it’s sounded like the Daryl and Rick shows were, so what happens after one season of those? Does The Walking Dead finally die, or do they pick new characters to spin-off from the old main show? I’m a bit confused about the long term plan here.
Second, it’s about to be a not-great time for The Walking Dead given that a slate of reviews are coming in for HBO’s The Last of Us that include a lot of praise that’s along the lines of “what if The Walking Dead was actually good?” for the fungus-based zombie series. Andrew Lincoln was best known for UK shows like This Life or rom-com favorite Love, Actually before becoming The Walking Dead's Rick Grimes. While the AMC series toned down some of the darkness of the graphic novel, it shared the same mission statement as the source material in charting the evolution of Rick as he and his group struggled to adapt to a post-apocalyptic world. Rick's exit in season 9 prompted the announcement of a Walking Dead movie in 2018, but those plans have changed.
Lincoln was the backbone of The Walking Dead throughout the first eight seasons. That's why when Lincoln announced Rick was leaving TWD in season 9, it was met with shock from fans. The series didn't kill Rick off, however. Lincoln's exit instead saw Rick Grimes risk his life to blow up a bridge to stop a walker horde swarming Alexandria. He was later rescued by Jadis and was absent until the series finale at the end of The Walking Dead season 11. In the immediate aftermath of his departure, three Rick Grimes movies were announced, and in 2019, it was confirmed these would be released in theaters by Universal. Over time, progress on the Rick Grimes movie slowly ground to a halt.
The Long Wait Killed Interest In A Rick Grimes Movi
While the Covid-19 pandemic almost certainly impacted plans for the Rick Grimes movies, the lack of updates saw excitement for them wither. In July 2022, it was confirmed the long-awaited Rick Grimes movie had been scrapped entirely, and instead, Lincoln would return for an "epic" six-part miniseries reuniting him with Danai Gurira's Michonne. There's renewed excitement since seeing Rick at the tail end of The Walking Dead finale, but it feels like AMC also realized that the Rick Grimes movie release was delayed for far too long.
Following Rick's departure, there was concern about how The Walking Dead would sustain itself without him. But in the years since, not only has the show evolved nicely in his absence, the franchise itself continues to expand. Fear The Walking Dead (arguably) became the superior show, and various spin-offs are in the works too, including the upcoming The Walking Dead: Dead City, and a solo Daryl TWD spin-off series. Beloved a character as Rick is, the universe proved it could survive without him, and the seeming lack of momentum in the Rick Grimes movie trilogy also saw the interest in them dip.
With such a long wait, there was concern over how much of an event a Rick Grimes movie would still be. There's also the question of accessibility to newcomers and the overexposure of the property — which seems to announce a new spin-off every other week — also reduced the uniqueness of a film spin-off, so those factors likely led to the conclusion that Rick's best comeback would be a miniseries. The reunion of TWD's Rick and Michonne and the reveal of what he's been up to in the missing years makes the upcoming series very exciting, though it's a shame that plans for a Walking Dead movie didn't come together.

The Walking Dead had to change their original plans because the entertainment business has changed drastically. While a Walking Dead movie would've been great, there's much more room to explore Rick and Michonne in a miniseries that would've been limited by a two-hour time frame. A six-episode miniseries gives The Walking Dead characters a bit more breathing room to properly explore exactly what Rick Grimes has been up to for the past two seasons.
