Nah man. He is just the equivalent of a prosperity gospel preacher during an end of civilization scenario. He is also a nutcase. He is pretends to be ethical but he is unwilling to make any sacrifices for the greater good. He continually puts those around him in harms way. He is probably surprised that they have let him live or even stay with the group. Yes. They did some fucked up shit but is it really fucked up to slaughter a bunch of cannibals who just tried to murder and eat you a few days before. Those are no win situations. They had to kill Noah that way in order for the audience to feel his death. If Noah, Eugene or the priest had gotten killed in a less dramatic way no one would have even felt any kind of way because they are all useless. That's why they have made Eugene grow balls and made the priest into a "bad guy" so when they get killed viewers will have a reaction to it

The priest is purely evil and uses his belief as a way to avoid the reality of who he is, and the group has saved his ass a bunch of times. The problem is that even though the group does what it has to do, they still have a moral center. He is still around because of their goodness.
