This is true and it's not a "hood" or "suburban" thing because that gap between those two things isn't wide ,deep or long enough to seperate em like that.

The single mom thing is something that's becoming normalized within our culture and in american culture because when Maury's white guest say's "Baby daddy" and the rest of the titles we've given each other over the years,it's popularized.
Some choose to get their act together at the middle point of their lives why other's get stuck in a rut and that state of mind and thinking get's passed down to the next generation....I see it,like you see it and to say it's not true is to lie to yourself because you might be talking about your mother,sister or daughter.Talk about it,get it out in the open and try to correct it.....

In my experiences, most of the women I knew that got caught up with the bad boy/thug, got their minds right after the first kid and then got their shit together and either didn't have anymore kids or if they did have more it was within marriage or long term relationship, where the father was present.

The rest tended to repeat the process till they hit their early 30s and then stopped because the body count was high, reputation was trash and nobody wanted to deal with their kids, which most times were horrible and in other cases special needs and their looks started to fade.
