When you claim your prize, your financial team will arrange your temporary living arrangements if needed. When you have that kind of money/liquid assets, that opens the doors to special perks that common folk would never receive. You would get easily fronted the money for any immediate living arrangement if security was an issues. Plus after Winning, states will give people 90 days before publishing their informations.

It raised up more since Sunday. To win 944 million, reduced to 326 million after taxes is nasty work. That's more than half that the government gets. I was always under the presumption that, i would lose 45 percent. After a breakdown, I would lose 66% to uncle Sam alone.

Yeah lotto always been a fraud for many reasons… they tell you a billion dollars cause more people are likely to spend a few dollars on the near impossible odds than if you said the 67 percent discount number( actual number).. I have friends who own liq stores, etc where they sell lotto and they will tell you how much more money is spent on lotto once them ridiculous high numbers are said.. like last yr I believe you heard all those billion or close to billion dollar lotteries and they said how much more money was being spent on tixs during that run compared to the lesser numbers.. that’s why I always say sometimes ”winning numbers” ain’t giving out until lotto see a certain spike of purchases
That's not entirely accurate. Just nitpicking but, the initial "penalty" is from the lottery commission which is about 38%. Then the feds take about 24% and then the state (and if applicable, your city) takes their respective cut(s).

I'm in North Carolina right now and I drove an hour to South Carolina to get some tickets. South Carolina allows you to win anonymously. I haven't checked my tickets yet, but somebody in California won the big one, I still had a chance to catch the little ones though
