In my experience it's been more about licensing and collaborations. The later is how Nate Dogg and Busta Rhymes stayed in the game for decades without being signed.

I don't disagree with this at all, but you've gotta have something that people want to license and collaborate with, and getting to that point may take some grunt work. And I do agree with something else you said, about artists going all out to get a deal, when they could've put all that hard work into themselves.

That's very true. Nate and Busta wouldn't have got to that point without being signed first.

That being said, I used too be signed and employed to a Canadian rap label turned publishing company that made all if its money off sync licenses. One group, Social Deviantz, made good money off of two 30 second snippets used on episodes of The L Word. Another group, CIA, made $10,000 performing a few seconds of their song "Crime Rhyme" on the show 7th Day. Both groups were well known in Vancouver, but that was about it. in fact by that point neither had recorded in almost ten years. Those deals paid for all the unsold CDs still boxed up in the owner's closet.

The provincial government requires all locally filmed productions to release their contact info online. Finding the music supervisors was as ready add flipping through a phone book.

I'm suggesting that they think outside the box and refocus this investment into music revenue streams that give higher and more reliable returns.

for that they need an education - ime - most aren't educated for various reasons and finding an experienced non predatory manger etc - is 1 in 500

It can work, but the blueprint needs to be updated. You can't really make money selling CDs out the trunk any more.

so not true... but as already mentioned the focus shouldn't be on music sales but performances... a local act that builds a loyal following can eat very well just off of shows

you think that since berry gordy laid the foundation for the modern music industry and fucked people over that thats just the model people adopted?

i definitely think the closet homo stuff and the way the labels fuck artists over are both due to the fact that those w/ the power set the culture...

How does one gain leverage and power without having money?? And then also answer how does one gain leverage and power starting from zero and not coming from money???

violence and deception...there is NOT one thing of significance in this society, country or life that wasn't gained thru violence and deception in one way or another.

the music industry was BANKROLLED on organized crime money...whether it was italian, irish or jewish MOBS...there much blood money used to fund labels, distribution etc.

thats why I don't really fault these cats for flipping drug money to fund their music careers...BUT they didn't go far enough or deep enough.. rather than death row, bad boy, rocafella, murder inc etc banding TOGETHER to carve out their spot and plant their flag they turned on each other and continue to do so..

Now the violence is self explanatory but deception can range from straight up lies and breaking words to creating and manipulating laws and loopholes in laws. Its not a coincidence that jews dominate lawyering and accounting. On top of that they ALWAYS stick together...ALWAYS.

If there is one thing thats consistent in the last few centuries is that whites and jews have an almost preternatural ability to ban together for a common cause seemingly to almost border on telepathy and I'm not fucking joking either..

Make no mistake cacs and jews WILL kill each other and slit each others throats at the drop of a hat. Bernie Madoff bilked BILLIONS primarily from his own people and he's not the only one just a couple weeks ago another hedge fund ponzi scheme run by cacs and jews was busted...most of the victims were jews.

So the difference is no matter how much infighting Morty and Shmuly may do... as soon as DARNELL walks into the room..they all STOP the bullshit between them and the mission becomes we've got to get THAT motherfucker.

Even when cacs and jews HELP you they make sure they either have leverage OVER you or can't be damaged just in case you turn on them. Has anyone seen a jew sign a contract where they work UNDER a black or brown person? If they did I guarantee you that relationship didn't last long.

Meanwhile black and brown have no problem signing their life away to jews and cacs. I'm still trying to figure out if its conditioning or a natural mindset.
