The RIAA Is Going Too Fucking Far!!!

I'm rather disgusted by this whole issue. It can be traced back to two acts, the end of the single and no pricebreak on cds. Like a song, go buy it for a dollar. If you like two songs buy the album. That's how I used to handle it. Now 10 years ago record companies said the margins weren't strong enough on singles so we'll stop selling them. well low and behold folks start trading singles over the internet on Napster. Cds were initially $20 a pop easy in record stores, maybe less if it was brand new. But as the technology got cheaper you could walk into any Sam Goody and STILL find cds $20 a pop. Not special editions either just regular cds. The movie industry, which I think is fighting a sucessful war against piracy mostly, is still alive because it's easier for me to go buy a $10 dvd then download one of dubious quality. They could have nipped this in the bud with some pricing adjustments.

Shit, somebody point out who runs the RIAA...That way I can make a b-line (sp) for them and give em a stone cold stunner...

Fuck em...They can't control what we do with the music...If we buy it, then it is under our OWNERSHIP, meaning we can do whatever the fuck we want with it. Record it to tape, rip it to CD, it doesn't matter...It's ours.

And I agree with those who say that mainstream radio is garbage...Problem is, there are more of THEM (those who actually listen to or buy crappy music) then there is of US (who want to hear good music)...I will not listen to the "black" radio stations in my city until they change up what is being played on there

No, that's OK, let them continue to alienate the public, let's just go ahead and shut the music industry completely down. Then they'll see who's really in charge.:lol::yes::yes:

The problem is plain and simple. The PRICE of music is just way too high. It has little to do with how many decent tracks are on an album, because people are going to listen to the music regardless of whether it's good or bad if they pay their hard earned money for it. But to pay 10, 15, 20 dollars for one album is just palin ridiculous. Even in this age of spending money on frivilous shit like ringtones.

And the AVERAGE music listener does not know about all the ways you can find music online. That is only for people who spend countless hours online like hackers, crackers and surfers.

Plenty of people still buy music. Even more would buy music if it were more affordable

Another thing is who the hell wants all those CD's taking up space? I had over 600 CD's in 3 storage units. Put all that on HD. The songs are easier to access, I reclaimed space in my place, and I can playback however I want without having to burn mix CD's. That's what I, the consumer, wanted to do with what I purchased. Who the fuck are they to tell me I can't.

I agree with that but you know where there's a will there's a way! Some geek will create a program and upload it!!!:yes:

They tried that shit for a minute. They had some block on the cd where you couldn't rip it. It was a easy challenge. Shit was weak. They tested it on one of Anthony Hamilton's albums and one of Lyfe jennings albums. Shit didn't work. My partner bought it just to crack the codes.

Record companies are hungry..... no they are starving..... no they are severely dehydrated and malnutritioned.

Nightline did a segment on how record companies are now trying to collect royalties on artist's live performances. WTF?!

It's only a matter of time that they will have exhausted any and every means of battling online technology. Soon after will be the final days of record companies as we know it.

They could have nipped this in the bud with some pricing adjustments.

EXACTLY. When CDs first came out in the 90s it would cost upwards of 4 -6 dollars a unit to manufacture. Today you can get them made for less than a dollar yet the retail price has not changed? GTFOH

RIAA and the record companies just crying about that money their not getting anymore ,fuck them cry babies!!!

Lol@ the mob not being able to skim of the top of the new business model. These bitches been raping the consumer for years. So fuck em, due justice. Now the same thing needs to happen to the greedy cable bitches.

Thanks for the Tunebit and torrent link.

C/S. The industry chooses who to promote and who gets played instead of allowing us to decide who we like. Remember when DJs used to break new artists? It was too hard for them to judge what we might like at any given time so they removed our right to choose by taking over all media like TV and radio and doling out their choices. That way trends don't change unlrss they want them to. It's funny how the government regulates big business mergers like google's and microsoft's but viacom can have a monopoly on entertainment. They shoot themselves in the foot and want us to pay for it.

Excellent points! Monkeys can't sell bananas.

We don't die...we multiply.

The solution is simple, stop buying music. Then let the music industry put locks on the RIAA. If consumers were to protest by boycotting all new music releases I bet you the industry would shut down the RIAA. If CDs are sitting on the shelves collecting dust and the reason points to the RIAA and its interfernce in consumer rights, all this bullshit would stop. Some money is better than no money.

what he said we thhe consumer ultimately holds the cards< unite and dont buy the shit, and we'll see how long that shit lasts, all they're doin is hurtin the artist

these mothafuckas are stupid, if they would stop releasing bullshit music more consumers would buy their product. not too mention that cds get bootlegged by crackers at record labels before niggas in the street bootleg them.
The college students are stupid too because It seems like that's the people that the RIAA are targeting. If you know that the RIAA is targeting college students then stop downloading music illegally while your at school or on campus.Another dumb thing that they do is download tons of files and leave them on their computer.Download the stuff, put It on your Ipod or burn It to a cd/data disc and delete It off your computer.Don't keep hundreds of thousands of illegal files on your computer.Use an IP blocker or something. You gotta get creative with your stealing.

And the RIAA wonders why people continue to do what the fuck they want. They think that they can bully people and force people to spend their hard earned money on music when the majority of what's being put out is bullshit. If the music is good people will spend their money. They went after DJ Drama even though the mixtape is the primary reason why the few rappers that have blown up recently got the buzz that led to their platinum status. And now they decide to go after people who share music with their friends. Back in the mid 90's people used to share their cassettes with their friends and no one gave a fuck. But now its a problem because there pockets aren't being filled quickly enough. They need stop trying police the consumers and start policing themselves because it's people in the industry who leak music weeks and months before the actual release date.

Who needs to rip a CD when they post it online a week before it even hits the stores. I got so much music, I don't need to buy another cd till the next life. fuckem.
