Most old heads consider Russell the GOAT. Its not just the rings, its the dominance defensively. He's a 5x MVP, the 2nd leading rebounder of all time, 2x NCAA champ at a no name school. Russell is the reason blocks and steals are counted, they werent in his day. Russell is the reason theres a DPOY and all defensive teams today, they were none in his day. Russell had so many clutch moments in Finals they created an award in his honor called the Finals MVP. Dude was a winner who controlled basketball games defensively and bullied an entire league for 11 of his 13 seasons. Pretending he isnt in the discussion for GOAT because Jordan never came close to his team success is asinine.

I never said Russell was the best. Although 11 rings does beat the fuck out of 6 every time. But as I said earlier its about the era the player played in. As for Bill Russell not being the greatest maybe. But you can't deny he consistently dominated the biggest man in the game Wilt Chamberlain.
Knowing the overall records of Russell (11 rings) and Chamberlain (2 rings) no way would I take Chamberlain. Don't forget it was Chamberlain who forced the league to change the dimensions of the key. Yet he struggled to win. Maybe Russell wasn't top 5 in any category but he sure had Chamberlain's number.
The simple fact is some people are just winners while some are not. Its about being a winner not scoring. Who does what's needed at that time to get that win. As dominate as LeBron was in last years playoffs it was Kyrie Irving that sank the winning basket. Its not about stats its about winning.

Hes taken 118 less shots than Jordan tho... More efficient. And while your argument supports the total numbers contention, it does not discredit lebron and terms of across-the-board averages as it compares to Jordan. He averages more rebounds, assist, and the only thing Jordan has over him is points scored. The fact that in 30 Games less hes taken a 118 less shots Indicates he is more efficient score in Jordan and Jordan was more Trigger happy.
