No doubt. Dude is an all-time great... but for all his great skill, he is not what people are making him to be..he is not the GOAT... I think Montana is going to be safe in that regards... Manning is going to hold all the regular season records... but Montana was 4-0 in the superbowl and fucking clutch....

Every time we start talking about Payton Manning, somebody gotta pull Joe Montana out dey ass!

Re: ***The OFFICIAL Super Bowl XLIV Discussion Thread (Saints vs. Colts in Miami, FL)

He definitely has his ring and he is still definitely a great quarterback. However, this dude is clutch in the regular season... but when the shit really counts, he comes up short most of the time... cats have been calling him the goat this season... but cats like Montana has some of his biggest games during the playoffs and especially in the superbowl.. dude was money.. but you kind of EXPECT Manning to fuck up in the big game... cats on here even called it right before he threw the INT.

Which in essence puts Peyton a step ahead of Marino..who's a HOF'r. Billy the kid or Billy the goat when you are in that position but he'll make the hall easy. Plus let's be real, in Indy only Peyton can make that mistake and be forgiven, anyone else would have been run out of town on a rail.

Real talk, I don't think we will ever see another Montana. The closest thing we can come to is Brady, but they choked against the Giants. 4-0 in Super Bowls. The Catch. The Drive. Montana really was Joe Cool.

Re: ***The OFFICIAL Super Bowl XLIV Discussion Thread (Saints vs. Colts in Miami, FL)

The Cowboys must feel like shit. They passed on Payton and kept Jason Garrett. LOL

Imagine how Dolphins fans feel. They passed on Brees for Dante Culpepper....:lol:

 Cowboys didn't pass on Peyton. Parcells like Payton walk so he could become a head coach. Not to mention Cowboys probably wouldn't even be a playoff team with Sean Payton here. We'd have no defense.

But he has a championship. Why do ya'll keep ignoring that. Are ya'll trying to say the Colts got that championship and Peyton didn't have anything to do with it?

it was the sorry ass bears :lol::lol:

Re: ***The OFFICIAL Super Bowl XLIV Discussion Thread (Saints vs. Colts in Miami, FL)

So we not gonna give the Saints D no credit? They came up with the INT. Manning fucked up. I agree. He choked today. But how can you call Peyton a choker when he got a ring two years ago?

Because Peyton Manning is probably the most skilled quarterback the game has ever seen. He is also clutch in the regular season and displays this skill with ease...even easily bringing his team back from behind to win games on the last drive during the REGULAR season. However, in big games (even since his days at Tenn) he seems to regularly not perform to the level you would expect him to perform and he definitely doesnt have his BEST performances in big games.... some of most memorable performances of Montana was in the Superbowl when just played perfectly in all 4 games... or like how Jordan was dominant in the FINALS.... but Peyton did the fucking thing that you couldnt have happen...throw a INT for a TD late in the 4th with your team trailing.....that is an absolute choke job....the one play ended the game...

Re: ***The OFFICIAL Super Bowl XLIV Discussion Thread (Saints vs. Colts in Miami, FL)

congrats saints...they were the best team for most of the season...

Re: ***The OFFICIAL Super Bowl XLIV Discussion Thread (Saints vs. Colts in Miami, FL)

Montana also had a great defense and the greatest receiver of all time. Nothing away from Montana though. Actually i'm not even making a argument for Manning against Montana. But how raw would Peyton be with Jerry Rice? Jerry Rice would've tore that Saints secondary ass up today for 200 yards.

I was going to bump a thread I made about the Cowboys letting Payton go.

Jerry Jones is such a great evaluator of talent:rolleyes:

I know. I can't stand him. He's the G.O.A.T of the stat sheet, but when it comes to crunch time, I wouldn't want him under center. I'll still take Brady right now or Montana back in the day.

Re: ***The OFFICIAL Super Bowl XLIV Discussion Thread (Saints vs. Colts in Miami, FL)

Well done you Saints.

When Brees was in his second year at Purdue I knew he was going to be a really good NFL quarterback

Once again I agree. He choked. But choker? Just can't say it. He got a ring two years ago. So was that fluke? Or we just discredit it since he's choked more than he's won a championship?

And let's look at Peyton's career for a second. Can we say that year in and out that the Colts have the best team in the league? MJ had that. Bulls were the best team bar none. The 9ers? For the most part they had the best team in the league when Montana was qb'ing for them. Can you sit here and say Manning has had the best overall team in the league? That's why I don't consider it choking. This team here? They shouldn't have even been in the playoffs. Maybe that's a bit extreme. But I didn't think they were good enough to win 13 games this year. Manning had them overachieving. And I don't even know what Caldwell does.

Re: ***The OFFICIAL Super Bowl XLIV Discussion Thread (Saints vs. Colts in Miami, FL)

I agree. But not being clutch does not equal choker when you got a championship. See that's the problem i'm having here. How are we gonna call him a choker when he has a ring? I called him a choker earlier in his career. I felt he was. He was a young qb. Now? Its not choking he just didn't come to play today. Maybe that's choking I don't know but the man since hitting 30 has a championship and he has some choking under his belt.

Agreed, and I'm drunk but I think he's choker in big games. He's clock management in the final two was terrible as well.

Jerry didn't have a choice. What was he gonna do? Parcells was under contract. Payton was too. But when a team offers an assistant coach currently under contract a head coaching position? You can't keep him.
