The official Sneakerhead Thread*************

Because resellers and hypebeast realized that they released in limited numbers compared to the average Jordan retro.

So resell values shot up. I'm still kicking myself I didn't get two pair of royals.

And with each release of the black and reds and Chicago's, 1's became more and more popular and prices got higher. Now 1's that weren't hard to get like shadows and black toes are going for over $300.

Shits ridiculous the way you have to jump through hoops for 1's now. Anytime the resell value of those plastic jumpman Chicago's I got in 2013 for $120 is near $300, the game is fucked up.

:smh:

Very overhyped. Take away the "theme" and they wouldn't be as desirable to most people who want them

I honestly didn't even know what the "Shattered Backboard" name meant until I saw the video clip a couple of days ago.
I don't understand the hype for a shoe based on colors from an exhibition game overseas.
JB is just cranking out bullshit, feeding the beast, while hypebeasts keep asking for more. :smh:
That's why I'm pretty much done copping Js.
Shit, if them 2013 Chicago 1s are going for close to $300, I might as well sell mine.
I only wore them once and they hurt my feel like crazy when I did.

I actually started liking 1's as I started getting older, because of how simple they are. They're like a dunks or air force ones to me, but better, because they're more timeless, because they didn't have a bunch of gimmicks or themes.

I hate how Nike puts a fuckin theme or name on everything now. Instead of just creating the colorway, they ninvent some sort of history behind it to get people to buy in. If you have Lebron actually play in his fuckin colorways instead of PE's all the damn time, maybe he can have a fallaway or game winner. Can I go to the store and buy the Lebron's he hit the shot against Chicago in?

It was funny when Mayor was talking about how KD had a peanut butter and jelly KD like that is something special.

How many people actually even knew about him shattering a backboard overseas? I vaguely remember hearing rumors about it. Now it's all of a sudden I HAVE to have them. Get the fuck out of here with that.

I just hope all of this bullshit hasn't made the Carolina colorway hard to get in October.

Man, you already know.
The hype is already building.
I have the Jumpman-branded mids that came out a couple years ago, but I'm definitely trying to scoop those up.
Gonna have to jump through some hoops though :smh:

Here's some AM1s I copped on my trip to Vegas.
BTW if anyone is heading out to Vegas anytime soon they have the "gone fishing" foams in full stock at the Nike Store at Caesars Forum Shops.

I WAS able to cop these earlier in the week from Undefeated, after Nike Lab sold out...

Like Complex, I've always liked the clean and timeless design of the 1's and some SBs, but the game is totally fucked up and rigged now. They(Nike) dictate to these idiots what's hot, and they follow right along, causing these outrageous prices.

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Adidas hadn't lowballed Bron, and he signed with them instead of Nike. Not say that the game would be a WHOLE lot different, but shit man, Nike is just doing whatever they want right now.

They ugly as fuck Leroy dawg, I don't understand either.

they're not ugly imo...but they are a very simple/plain (design-wise) sneaker as complex said...there is no reason these sneakers should cost more than $150 other than the manufactured shortage/demand for them...it really is ridiculous

The 10 Ugliest Signature Basketball Sneakers
Signature sneakers used to be a rare breed. For example, Dr. J and Kareem Abdul Jabbar had their own Converse and adidas, respectively, but the name on your own shoe’s club (shout out to Walt Frazier’s Puma “Clyde,” too) was pretty exclusive. But then Michael Jordan and his Air Jordan line made Nike a ridiculous amount of money, and other sneaker brands wanted in.
The 90’s saw a plethora of signature basketball sneakers. Some of them were fresh, destined for retro rehashes that sell out hours, or less, after their release. However, there have been, and continue to be, signature kicks that look like the equivalent of 30 miles of bad road. Nostalgia tends to make sneakerheads gloss over or completely neglect the fact that some of these kicks were visual diarrhea.
That said, let’s take a look at the 10 Ugliest Signature Basketball Sneakers. The scary part, some of these shoes have even been retro’d. The horror.

FUBU Spikes Jordan Brand

Footwear brands being “inspired” by each other is old news nowadays, but is there a such thing as taking it too far? You be the judge. We recently spotted two FUBU sneakers that look very, very, very familiar. Do we really need to say the name?

Well, we can’t assume everyone is in the Jordan loop, so with that being said, these FUBU sneakers are a straight rip-off of the shoe Jordan Brand made to pay homage to Spike Lee – Jordan Spiz’ike. As you can see from the price tag, the shoes retail for $24.99, which is $150 cheaper than the Spizikes. Ironically, FUBU named this Spizike-bitten model the Wrath. Yes, the Wrath. Ha-ha-ha-HA!

We’ve all seen TONS of sneaker bites, but does this rip-off take the cake? Express yourself in the comments section, and peep the other colorway.

They want over a band for them sandals, $1200 to be exact

And I only want the foams from the Sharpie pack, the other kicks are ass. I wish they'd stop pairing dope kicks with bullshit in these packs

what the hell I got to do w/ a pair of laced up sandals??????

...these where the 1st pair of jordans I ever owned...always mistakenly called them the hare jordans...bought them pretty much brand new (only worn once) off this dude in our dorm who was desperate for some $$$ for $25 :yes: loved them joints...wouldn't buy em now tho...hate the flat laces and I don't like the soles

Hoping I can these in the morning. Was wondering if you sneakerheads think they'll be hard to get.

Just tried FNL to see what would happen, and got to my Papal with no issues. Not coppin', but just wanted to see if I could get thru had I wanted them.

I want them, but my lady told me I better not buy another pair of sneakers this month. :dunno:
