Draymond is not being disloyal to Steph and has acknowledged how much he owes to him many times including recently.
I think it's a bullshit take. But I don't feel like this is new, they were saying things like that at the time. I remember Steph saying "He's above and beyond a splash brother"-- which I thought was crazy and imagine what people would be saying if Draymond said that-- and the main thing they would praise is his ability to get his own shot whenever he wants.
When you start with the acknowledgement that "Steph is the constant," the core, the one they depend on, then it makes sense why Draymond put it in terms of Steph's ability or inability to carry the team over the finish line.
Steph probably would've sat there and nodded if he was in the room.
Steph is too nice.
He carried them niggas to the 2015 title
He and Klay averaged less points than a nigga that didn't start full time until halfway through the series
So he already proved he could carry them to the finish line let's start there.
Next there's a reason people want to join Steph because he's secure enough to let other ppl have shine cause his shine is permanent. Who have you heard him tear down? Nobody
Yes again they praised his ability to get his own shot because they needed a second person who could do it.
Teams figured out and cavs figured out throw the sink at Steph Draymond ain't gonna do shit and his points wont kill us
Klay can't consistently create his own shot
And Harrison Barnes went 5/32 over the final 3 games with zero defensive attention
So yes the position of someone to capitalize off of Steph being double teamed is exactly what was needed.
Not because Steph can't get his own shot
But because he is the only one who could
They still suffered from that this year why do you think Poole was so important? Cause he can get his own shot
By these metrics the 2nd player who can get their own shot is always better than the dude commanding the double team right?
Where that make sense at?
