***THE OFFFICIAL BGOL 2015 NBA PLAYOFFS THREAD*** Who you Got?

Yes he did get doubled, but from I can remember, he allowed himself to get double teamed. He should have continued pushing the ball and bulldoze his way through traffic like he usually do. He we slowed down his pace, Klay and Curry jumped on him. Plus he passed the ball up with like 2.5 seconds left on the clock. He was trying to make the right play at the wrong time.

Nah fam

he got the ball came down he was doubled to his strong side.. we all know Harden goes left, he's not going right. klay and steph both played him for the left drive and packed the paint so there was no getting to the rim with that kind of staggered defense.

he gave the ball up and it happened to be howard. if it was anyone else that's probably a score in that situation. everyone else was covered BUT howard and howard was the last guy down the floor everyone else was manned up.

this is just a rare time where the offense really didn't screw it all the way up aside from maybe using a timeout but this was just stellar recognition by the defense.

literally

everyone else was covered on the play but howard at the 3 point line. and harden was double teamed. it was the perfect defense.

the officiating has been inconsistent on BOTH SIDES

nobody is saying the refs are good

they're bad for BOTH SQUADS

Bills....

I'm not saying that officiating has impacted one team vs another

NO EXCUSES for our losses.

I'm saying that as a whole officiating has been bad.

If scared of wolf don't go in woods...

The double wasn't that tight until after Harden gave up the ball. They didn't take his strong side away. It was given to him if he would have kept driving to the lane. Regardless is was good defense on GS part. I just don't think Harden should have gave the ball up, not because he didn't know it was Howard or he was doubled, but because that was his moment. Hell he could have even pulled up for a tre ball. My point is the ball should have never left his hand. To late in the clock to think about passing the ball.

looks like Irving might be out for game 2...that combo of the knee tendinitis and the hip injury is catching up to him

Ninjas was laughing when I said Love and Irving are injury prone.. Welp Bron got to carry ninjas once again, sole reason he left Miami only to do the same thing.. Oh well

thats not true fam

they played him left all the way from the start

there was the 1st line and then the double was behind moving left

all he couldve done is possibly pull up for a jumper

now giving the ball up i agree

but if its not there initially call the timeout

You're wrong bro.

The beige brothers played great defense that entire possession.

They had him trapped at the 3point line and were forcing him left. He actually made a great decision to pass to the trailer because not only was he gonna be forced into the corner. But he would have been led into a triple team as Barnes lagging behind him because Ariza brought him right to James. Once Harden passed it to the trailer, the beige brothers pushed up tight, and were in his pocket when he got the ball back. It was just great defense man.

I fault no one on that last possession. Ideally, McHale should have called a TO at rebound OR James should have called one when he saw he didnt have numbers on the break but i cant blame him for playing through and thinking he could make a play.

just a clean play that didn't work out for the rockets and did for the warriors

ATLANTA (AP) -- While the Atlanta Hawks try to figure out who will guard LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers are just grateful the four-time MVP is still standing.

It's understandable. This series could turn into a war of attrition -- and they've only played one game.

James was limping around, Kyrie Irving went to the bench and may miss Game 2 and DeMarre Carroll is a game-time decision after being helped off the court in the opener.

There was "raging fear" swelling in Cleveland coach David Blatt when he saw James in obvious pain after rolling his right ankle for the second time in the playoffs.

But James, who said his first thought was "not again," simply tied his shoe tighter and was back on the court within minutes. He'll be ready to go on Friday night in Game 2.

"He's the closest thing to Superman there is out there," Blatt said. "That's the only way I can explain it."

Irving's situation is more of a concern.

It's unclear how effective he will be the rest of the playoffs -- and if he'll even play Friday. Irving hobbled into the series and played only about 3 minutes in the fourth quarter of Game 1 after tweaking his sore left knee. Then he skipped Friday morning's shootaround to get further evaluation on his ailing left knee.

"He wants to be out there at his best and he's dealing with a situation that's not easy for him," Blatt said. "On the other hand he's still out there contributing and giving us things we really need and battling through this thing with heart and with courage."

If Irving can't go, Matthew Dellavedova will start at point guard for the Cavaliers. James would also take on an expanded role handling the ball.

"We hope that (Irving) can play," Blatt said. "The nature of his problem is one that allows him to do so. It's just a matter of discomfort and sort of having to deal with the elements and play through it."

The Hawks can relate.

Atlanta received good news when a MRI showed a sprain but no structural damage in Carroll's left knee. Carroll took part in shootaround Friday morning. His knee was heavily wrapped and he walked with a slight limp on his way back to the locker room, but the Hawks are calling him a game-time decision.

The forward is Atlanta's top perimeter defender and drew primary responsibility for guarding James. If Carroll can't play, guard Kent Bazemore and power forward Paul Millsap could share that difficult assignment.

"The biggest thing is trying to limit everyone else," Bazemore said. "He's going to get what he's going to get. If you can kind of keep everyone else in the bottle, you have a better chance."

---

Some other things to watch in Game 2:

KORVER QUIET: Kyle Korver, one of the league's top 3-point shooters in the regular season, has not scored in double figures in his last five postseason games. He attempted only five shots overall while making two of four 3s to finish with nine points in Game 1. Korver had two 3-pointers disallowed due to offensive fouls. His only other shot in the half led to a three-point play.

ONE-MAN BENCH: The Cavaliers had only one bench player score in Game 1 -- but he scored a lot. Smith set a career playoff high with his 28 points, most coming while closely defended. He made 10 of 16 shots, including eight of 12 3s. He wanted more. "Honestly, I couldn't really sleep last night," Smith said Thursday. "I just kept playing the game over and over again. More the shots I missed, believe it or not, than the ones I made."

SCHRODER SLUMPING: Dennis Schroder has been an explosive complement to starting point guard Jeff Teague, but he made only 2 of 10 shots with four assists. He missed each of his three 3-pointers. Coach Mike Budenholzer said he wouldn't single out Schroder's misses. "Our entire group, we could have gotten better shots," Budenholzer said.

SCOTT SITS: Mike Scott didn't play off Atlanta's bench in Game 1 after averaging 7.8 points in the regular season. Budenholzer said Scott, a power forward, probably won't be an option against James. Mike Muscala had two points in 10 minutes as the top backup at power forward.

ALL-NBA AGAIN: James was a first-team pick to the All-NBA team for the ninth time in 12 years. "To be rewarded again with that, it means a lot," he said. "I've done something pretty cool in my career so far. Hopefully I can continue."

against the 1 seed in the east? not plausible

Well this my thinking...

Rest Uncle Drew until game because
- he really needs the rest
- I think the Cavs can win another game before game 5,
- Irving well rested for the last three games, should change advantage to Cavs
- REBOUNDING REBOUNDING REBOUNDING...

I se what you're saying. But they did force him to his strongest hand. Harden is a good offensive player. He could have got a clean look off either pulling the initial pull up three or using his strong side to shoot a fading jumper. Curry's initial stance negated his chance to go to the hoop. There was never a reason for him to give up the ball even though making the right pass to the trailing player was the right decision. Lebron would have and has been roasted for making such decisions. I'm not putting fault to harden by no means. There are a lot of things that should have happen in that possession, but with 8 seconds left there is not much you can do once the decision was made not to call a timeout.

Must be a helpless feeling sometimes trying to guard that Dude for real... :smh:

for christ sakes the wiggins shit is overplayed

they could have kept wiggins and he might have gotten a season ending injury in the second week of the regular season

shit happens

you would think wiggins was a 5 time scoring champ coming off his third straight mvp the way some of you guys talk about him

Especially when they are step back fading away 23 footers.

You can really force Curry off the 3 point line either. A bigger body is about the best defensive option. Then Kerr will just run him as a 2 and have him run off of screens.

That to me is what makes him currently the most unguardable player in the league... plus, he can pass his ass off too. With the way that offense is set up, it really is impossible to guard that Dude for long stretches... One of the few examples in the league of someone who can literally get any shot they want ant any time...

simple...make him work as hard on the defensive end as he does on the offensive end

I keep saying players look much different when they have to work on both sides of the ball

edit...though Kerr has done a good job of hiding him when needed on that end

they have enough defensive talent to protect him so he can go supernova

 you said simple. Curry will never have to guard a superstar though.

i was going for hyperbole fam.....let a nig live

let him have had to face russel westbrook these playoffs

telling you shit would have gone WAY fucking different

wasnt gonna be no styling and shit

yea i wanted the thunder in so russel could really test them.

steph knows he has no business guarding westbrook

and thompson just doesn't have the athleticism to stay on westbrook either. he would've been doing anything he wanted to do.

problem for the thunder is towards the end of the season the only position they could guard is the 1 and whatever steve adams guarded. outside of that it was free lunch out there

 that tripped me out though.

Westbrook in these playoffs would have been sick :itsawrap:

Kerr would have never let Curry guard Westbrook. But Westbrook would guard curry in a heartbeat. Oh well, it's Curry's time now.
